How do I install a .smp preset in CS6?

My client has provided a preset for importing Word styles into InDesign. They are using InDesign v10 and I am using CS6. The instructions I was given to install in Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version X/en_US/Word Import Presets don't exist on my system. Is there a CS6 workaround for this?

CS 6 is version 8, so look for that path as Version 8.0 instead of Version X. Also, I imagine they really said ~Library, which is your user library, and it's hidden. See Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later

    Are you sure it is not stand alone?  Google Sketchbook Express & Photoshop CS6, and you get no meaningful hits.  Google just Sketchbook Express and it brings up links than say stuff like:

  • How do I install FCP6 LiveType presets in FCP7

    OK, I upgraded OS X to 10.5.8. I installed FCP 7 and dumped FCP 6. Now a nice little project I am working on for a client doesn't see the clever LiveType preset on one of the title pages. The letters jumped around beautifully for me. I don't think I have enough time to get up to speed on Motion to recreate the look. Can I reinstall just the presets and if so... how?

    After you start the installer, click through the first few screens. You will se a list of applications to be installed. De-select everything except LiveType.

    How can I install presets into lightroom 4.4 64 bits?

    Hard to know where the ball got dropped without details.
    I suggest creating a new "test" preset in Lightroom, then make sure you can find it in OS (Finder/Explorer).
    Wherever you found it - that's the folder your other presets should be in. If they are already in that folder, then the preset files are not copacetic somehow (e.g. not compatible type).
    they should end with .lrtemplate
    ~R.

  • NEED HELP! - Installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick

    NEED HELP! -installing Camera raw presets from USB Stick.
    I am attempting to install the Camera Raw Presets.
    It says to put them into User Name/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Settings...
    When I get to CameraRaw the ONLY folders in there are CameraProfiles & Lens Profiles.
    I have searched everywhere looking for a CameraRaw-Settings folder and cannot find one.
    I have latest version of CameraRaw installed and still no settings folder.
    I even attempted to find it by looking in camera raw where it has saved the custom settings I made as presets and it shows that they are saved but will not show me where.
    I am using CS5 specifically Photoshop v12.0.4 and Bridge. I have Lightroom 4. I have iMac OS  10.7.3
    Do I need to reinstall Camera Raw and how do you do that?
    Will I then lose my presets that I made in CameraRaw?
    Thanks for your help

    Why is it no longer required to place the plug-in file in the specified directory on my hard drive?
    The Camera Raw update process has grown to include lens profile and camera profile files which are easiest to install via a single installer process instead of updating several different directories manually.

    g'day!
    Upfront: Neither have i tried using the lts-kernel nor do I own such a gadget so can't fully reproduce your case.
    I used this generic driver package with the stock linux-3.0-ARCH-kernel (3.0.7-1 as of writing).
    Untaring (and spraying the files all over the place 'cause there was no subdirectory), 'cd'ing into it and running 'make' yields:
    [alex@opteron]$ make
    make -C /lib/modules/3.0-ARCH/build SUBDIRS=/home/alex/build/vga2usb modules
    make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-3.0-ARCH'
    CC [M] /home/alex/build/vga2usb/drvwrapper.o
    CC [M] /home/alex/build/vga2usb/drvwrapper_lib.o
    LD [M] /home/alex/build/vga2usb/vga2usb.o
    Building modules, stage 2.
    MODPOST 1 modules
    WARNING: "pv_lock_ops" [/home/alex/build/vga2usb/vga2usb.ko] undefined!
    CC /home/alex/build/vga2usb/vga2usb.mod.o
    LD [M] /home/alex/build/vga2usb/vga2usb.ko
    The module compiles but...
    [alex@opteron]$ sudo modprobe vga2usb
    FATAL: Error inserting vga2usb (/lib/modules/3.0-ARCH/kernel/drivers/usb/image/vga2usb.ko):

    ... it doesn't load.
    A quick glance at google and...
    [alex@opteron] $ zcat /proc/config.gz | grep PARAVIRT_SPINLOCK
    # CONFIG_PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS is not set
    ... reveals that the stock arch kernel comes without pv-spinlocks compiled in, surprise!
    Recompiling the kernel with CONFIG_PARAVIRT_SPINLOCKS=y let's the module compile cleanly and modprobeing works without flaw, too.
    This is no proof that the device will work but if you can reproduce it you're halfway there.
    Make sure to look at 'modinfo vga2usb' because you might have to adjust the parameters for your specific model.
    No bloody idea why the driver needs this at all and I don't know if this option has any side effects setting your cat on fire, so you're on your own.
    Of course your're free to file a bug-report/feature-request on the bugtracker if you feel the need for it but next time before buying new bling you should take a look at what the linux support of the respective manufacturer looks like for your favourite distro.
    regards

    How to I add Camera Raw presets I've downloaded from the internet? I have a mac and I use Creative Cloud.

    Presets are stored under Library>Application Support>Adobe>Camera Raw>Settings. Install them there. Once done, load the settings:

  • Installing Transparency Flattener Preset for Indesign Server CS4

    I'm trying to figure out how to install a transparency flattener preset for InDesign Server CS4.
    I can see how they are installed for the InDesign app.  Edit -> Transparency Flattener Presets...
    But I'm not sure which directory to install these on for the server.
    I've seen a post that mentions:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\en_US\Transparency Flattener Presets
    /Users/<UserName>/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/Version 6.0/en_US/Transparency Flattener Presets
    for the Desktop version.  But when I place files here even for the CS4 Desktop, they don't seem to show up in the UI.
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Dennis

    Thanks, to get this working in a server script, I ended up just programmatically creating the flattener preset, rather than worrying about the .flst files.  (Java code below)
      //Setup Transparency Flattener (if not in application)
      FlattenerPreset flattenerPreset = app.getNamedChildFlattenerPreset("Test");
      if (flattenerPreset == null) {
          flattenerPreset = app.addFlattenerPreset();
          flattenerPreset.setName("Test");
          flattenerPreset.setRasterVectorBalance(VariableTypeUtils.createLong(100));
          flattenerPreset.setLineArtAndTextResolution(2400.0);
          flattenerPreset.setGradientAndMeshResolution(400.0);
          flattenerPreset.setConvertAllTextToOutlines(false);
          flattenerPreset.setConvertAllStrokesToOutlines(false);
          flattenerPreset.setClipComplexRegions(false);
      pdfPreset.setAppliedFlattenerPreset(flattenerPreset);

  • How to add/edit render video presets?

    I can't find how to add or edit render video presets used in (File->Export->Render Video) dialog.
    Am I missing something?

    I'm afraid that your are right there are preset in CS6 for its media server dll and they are stored where you found them. You can use the preset and modify setting in the preset for a custom rendering. However there is no save new preset button so your custom setting can be saved as a new preset.
    Yes, You can modify some rendering parameters (Dimensions, Frame Rate, Field order, Aspect Ratio).
    But You can't modify preset settings. What I mean is target bitrate, maximum bitrate, key frame distance etc.)
    You can't even determine what the settings are... (unless I missed something?)
    To get the full Media Sever you need an Adobe video product like Premiere Pro. Perhaps use a trial verson to create additional preset that can be added to Photoshop CS6 presets. Presets for better Quicktime support for example.
    This is not the issue. I have CS6 Master Collection installed...
    Photoshop don't see Media Encoder presets and vice versa...
