How do I install apps?

I know it sounds silly, but I can't get my C3-00 (with Opera Mini) to install apps. Whether I download them using the phone (like from Ovi.com) or my computer and put them on the phone later, the apps show up under "games" just fine, but when I open them, it says "opening application" and immediately "closing application". Then I get an error such as "class not found, java/lang/ClassNotFoundExeception appname".
I'm sure I missed something...

Here's an even better one. When I use Ovi.com to send an application to my phone, I can't install it. When I download an app on my computer and transfer it to my phone, I can't install it. When I use "Nokia.mobi" (which appears in my menus on a few places), the apps download, but do not install, but... when I use Apps.->Extras->Collection->Store I go to the same store (but it looks a bit different) with the same apps and games and from there everything installs just fine. Games that I can't install using ovi.com or nokia.mobi install correctly through the shop.
The files are all but 0,4k or so, so that can't be the problem. How do I set to install all? But isn't the previous weird as well? Problem solved, though, in a way, the apps that I wanted are now installed, but it's still weird.

The last app is needed for when I do work. It doesn't need to run on the background. When I'm doing work, I need to input some information in that app, and sync it to my company's server.
I would like to install some apps (free) of my choosing. But I'm coming across a hurdle...
I choose "App Store" in Home.
I search for a free App (for example the Google Search app by Google Inc)
I'm taken to the app's info screen. I tap the blue "Free" button.
The button becomes a green "Install App" button.
I get a pop-up box saying
Apple ID password

[password]
How can I install apps of my choosing without having a "work app" get deleted? This work app was installed on the "[email protected]" Apple ID.

You made his computer the syncing computer.
When you did this:
Connected to my Mac and iTunes and tried to sync one of the apps I bought with my account. The app shows up on one of the pages before you start the sync, but once you apply the sync, it does not transfer.
And, of cause, no restrictions set at all.
You changed syncing computers but you can only sync apps (and some other things like photos) from only your one syncing computer.

Googling shows that you have the 1G iPod. For apps you need at least iOS 2. The iG can go as far os 3.1.3 that you get here:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
Just be aware that there are presently not that many apps that work with a 1G with iOS 3.1.3

If the apps are downloaded from the App Store, connect to WIFI network and click on the app, make sure your iPhone is charging and keep moving the screen so it wont go on stand by.
When it says loading and you see the bar loading you can just leave your iPhone alone and wait until it's downloaded.

Sounds like you have auto app down load enabled. Which is by default if I recall.
Settings---> iTunes & App Store---> Auto App Download.

Some how you must of gotten confused b downloading a iPod Touch app. You can not put apps to an iPod classic. In iTunes when you check under the Compatibility area and you will see it is not Compatible with your iPod classic
