How do i install cs5 upgrade version from cs2?

hi
unsure whether this new win8 machine is 32 bit or 64 bit
not sure if my upgrade from cs2 to cs5 purchase is 32 bit or 64 bit

Thank you John,
Very helpful.  Unfortunately, when it came to the point that the install asked for the earlier version, it said it was not a valid upgrade version.  In seeking an answer to this problem i went onto Adobe chat and was informed that
Laishram: I have checked and see that the serial number for the CS2 is not a valid upgrade path to the CS5 product.
Chris: hmmmm. everything i read is that the upgrade version was for cs2. i just purchased it because the computer i had died and i bought a new one. i knew that my upgrade to CS5 version wouldn't work without an earlier version so I bought CS2 on ebay just two weeks ago. what can i do?
Laishram: I am sorry CS2 is not a valid upgrade path to the CS5.
I couldn't get more info from Laishram as to WHY is wasn't a "valid upgrade path" and I don't know what "not a valid upgrade path" means but, i'm guessing that i did something wrong when purchasing CS2.  I was told that i could use the upgrade version(of CS5) that i purchased (to upgrade FROM CS2 to CS5)  to upgrade to CS 6.  So I'll have to do that I reckon.
Chris

  • Installing CS5 Upgrade version  in a "clean"machine"

    * Maybe Adobe guys could chip in on this one please (as well as the early adopters in the same situation). *
REASON: I just ordered the base hardware of a new system  I7 - 64 bit OS etc.....
I do not intend to load CS4 into it at all because I want a really clean machine from the get go with CS5 and I do not want to uninstall CS4 from my current system at all.  It needs to keep working while I break in CS5 and the new system.
QUESTION: I wonder what process will be involved when installing an Upgrade Version of CS5 in a brand new machine that wont have CS4 installed at all. Usually the S/W goes looking for an installed qualifying version.  Because of the move to brand new systems and hardware in this release...I expect many users apart from me, will need to know this.
This question is a little premature but I am getting prepared and it will be worth knowing at some point..
We wont see CS5 down here in New Zealand for a little time after the U.S guys get it I suspect on past history. This is not a bad thing actually.

Often (sadly, not always) an upgrade will allow you to install by (1) putting a previous disc in the drive or (2) entering the previous install key
If nobody answers before you receive your install discs, those are the 2 things you could try

  • How do I get CS5 upgrade to recognize CS2 serial number

Copy of CS5 upgrade whether downloaded or off CD will not recognize the CS2 serial number as a good number -- how do I load this on a new computer

    Contact Adobe Support for unlocking
If you can't resolve the issue, an Adobe Support agent can help. Adobe Support uses a process called unlocking to bypass the Serial Number Upgrade screen.
Important: Adobe Support cannot unlock your serial number until they verify that you qualify for the upgrade. When you contact Adobe Support, be at your computer to complete the following upgrade verification workflow.
    Chat with an agent
Click Chat Now, above, to contact an Adobe Support agent.
Do one of the following in the Serial Number Upgrade screen:
Windows: Press Ctrl+Shift and then double-click.
Mac OS: Press Command+Shift and then double-click.
      The Upgrade Code window appears.
Read the Challenge Code to the Adobe Support agent.
I was able to get the unlock code by chatting with an agent  -- almost 2 hours  but have the product CS5.5 Design Premium installed and it now shows as registered in my account.  Thank you for your help

  • How do I delete CS5 trial version from Mac Air?

Because I don't have an external drive in which to install PS CS5 and am away from home, I had to download the trial version of CS6. Now I want to remove it and do not know how to do that. I'd appreciate how to proceed. Can you help?
    Thank you,
    JRD

Inside the Photoshop CS6 folder under Applications, there is "Uninstall Photoshop CS6" at the bottom of the list.
Run that and check "Remove Preferences". That should completely remove Photoshop CS6 from your Mac.

  • How to re-install CS5 student version?

My hard drive crashed so I need to reinstall my student version of CS5.  I still have discs and serial numbers.  Do I need to uninstall - programs are showing up but obviously won't open- before I re-install.  Will I run into problems like having to re-verify student eligibility, etc.?  Thanks for the help.

If the files are installed but are not working you should probably uninstall and reinstall them.  I don't think you will need to reverify eligibility since that should have been part of your getting the serial numbers in the first place.
I do not know if you will need to reactivate things, but if aso and you run into any problems, you can contact Adobe Support either by chat or via phone when you have serial number and activation issues.

Since I upgraded to Elements 13, I have lost all my filters from 3rd party.  How can I install them in version 13 that still are installed in version 11 and 12?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

After upgrading to firefox 8, I can't use many of the functions on my schools website like opening the textbook and sending emails. I spoke the school's tech. support & they informed me that my version of firefox was not compatible with their system. So, how do I install a previous version of firefox (firefox 6 to be exact)?

You can download Firefox 6.0.2 for Mac OS X 10.5 from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/6.0.2/
Backup your '''Profiles''' folder before new installation.

Sounds like you downloaded the OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 Update or Combo Update. Neither will work on a version of OS X prior to OS X Mavericks. Those are only used to update an existing install of OS X Mavericks. The Combo will update any version from 10.9.0 thru 10.9.4. The Update will only update version 10.9.4.
You need the full installer of OS X Mavericks from the App Store. However, the App Store no longer offers OS X Mavericks. Yosemite is the new FREE OS X.

  • How can i upgrade version from 10.6.8 to 10.9.4

How can i upgrade version from 10.6.8 to 10.9.4?

Before embarking on a major OS upgrade, it would be very prudent if you to backup your current system to an external connected and Mac formatted Flash drive OR externally connected Mac formatted hard drive. Then use either OS X Time Machine app to backup your entire system to the external drive OR use a data cloning app to make an exact and bootable copy (clone) of your entire Mac's internal hard drive. This step is really needed in case something goes wrong with the install of the new OS or you simply do not like the new OS, you have a very easy
Then, determine if your Mac meets ALL minimum system install requirements.
To install Mavericks, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space
    Next,
If you run any older Mac software from the earlier PowerPC Macs, then none of this software will work with the newer OS X versions (10.7 and onward). OS X Snow Leopard had a magical and invisible PowerPC emulation application, called Rosetta, that worked seamlessly in the background that still allowed older PowerPC coded software to still operate in a Intel CPU Mac.
The use of Rosetta ended with OS X Snow Leopard as the Rosetta application was licensed to Apple from a company which got bought out, I believe by Micrsoft and Appe  could no longer secure their rights to continue to use Rosetta in later versions of OS X.
So, you would need to check to see if you have software on your Mac that maybe older than, say, 2006 or older.
Also, check for app compatibilty  here.
    http://roaringapps.com/
If you have any commercial antivirus installed and/or hard drive cleaning apps installed on your Mac, like MacKeeper, CleanMyMac, TuneUoMyMac, MacCleanse, etc. now would be a good time to completely uninstall this apps by doing a Google search to learn how to properly uninstall these types of apps.
These types of apps will only cause your Mac issues later after the install of the new OS X version and you will have to completely uninstall these types of apps later.
Once you have determined all of this, you should be able to find the latest version of OS X Mavericks by clicking on the Mac App Store icon in the OS X Dock and then login to the Mac App Store using your Apple ID and password.
You can then begin the download and installation process of installing OS X 10.9 Mavericks from the Mac App Store.

  • Do I need to install CS4 full version before installing CS5 upgrade?

New hard drive in iMac. I have a full version of CS4 design premium and an upgrade version of CS5. Do I have to install both? Or can I just install CS5 upgrade and somehow use my CS4 full serial number to validate the CS5?

You have the right idea.  You do not have to install CS4.  At some point during installation of CS5 you will be required to enter the serial number for CS4 in order to confirm it as a valid upgrade installation
