How do I install Elements

I have downloaded the installation file for Elements 13 and the installer. I have clicked on install. The installer opens the package and starts a new folder. It then starts installing. Then it hangs up and I get an error message which says Installer failed to initialize. I asked for support and entered a chat session. The person at the other end was no help at all. Part of the installation process asks me to Download Adobe Support Adviser but when I try to do so it says that this has been discontinued. The support person then tells me to download Creative Cloud and "then it will work". I did this and it doesn't. I went back to the support forum and had the same agent who said they would look into it. Nothing has happened except I keep getting the following message: "

Well, I have replied and there is no answer. There are plenty of messages on the net from others who have the same problem. None appears to have been fixed. Why does Adobe make things so difficult?

you need to download both the exe (smaller file) and the 7z (larger file). put both in the same directory and then click the exe.

Tip for future reference: when buying software, always keep your serial numbers safe and handy. Don't rely on websites, the Cloud or anyone else to retrieve them for you when you need them most. They are the single most important thing you get when you buy software and they are unique to you personally.
You can download software installers from the web any time but, without your unique serial number, you'll be stuck with using the software in trial mode.

I bought a hardcopy of Elements 13. I want to install it on a Windows 7-desktop pc.

Your best bet is to download it and install it that way. You can download the trial and use your serial number to activate it to full use (there is no difference between the trial and the full version other than the missing activation).

An alternative would be to copy the installation to a USB stick and plug that into your desktop

I originally bought Elements 10 on a disk, which I loaded onto my macbook. I have now bought an iMac, and the file transfer of the elements 10 from the MAcbook to the iMac didn't work. Adobe support tell me to re-install Elements 10 into the iMac. But the iMac doesn't have a hard drive and the adobe products page has my serial number of Elements 10, but it doesn't give me a download option because it was originally bought as a disk, not as software - so how do I reinsall elements 10 into my iMac?

You can't. adobe software can't be installed on external drives and it's not "portable" in the first place due to the activation system, so short of running out of disk space there is no rational reason to even try it...

How do I install Elements for Windows 7 PC with 64 bit? Get error message - file archive part missing

We purchased Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12 on September 7, 2014 and have tried a variety of things including searching through FAQs on the Adobe site, etc. etc. and cannot get our downloads to work. We are avid computer users and have never had problems downloading software before.
From our account under "orders" - I have tried clicking on the Akamai download manager and the Alternate Download Method on for each application with the same results.
We have a Windows 7 PC with a 64 bit operating system and Internet Explorer 11.
On all attempts we get an Adobe screen with 2 links – 1 for a file ending in .7z and a 2nd file ending in .exe.
I click on the first file and confirm the download completes at 100% (not paused, etc.) and is in the downloads folder for my user name on the PC.
I click on the 2nd link for .exe and I receive the error message below – 2nd screen shot – “file archive is missing” all folders/files must be in same folder.
So I see it’s a winzip file (as a winzip pop up folder had come up also) so I download the free version and unzip the files in the same downloads folder under my user name to try that.
I click on .exe file link again and same message. I tried copying the files directly to the downloads folder (as they all unzipped into a subfolder called PSE 12 and tried clicking on .exe again but get the same message.
For Premiere I tried the same and got same results on the 64 bit version download.
I do not know how to access the software we purchased.
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Also - if anyone knows how I can contact Adobe for a full refund so I can just buy the boxed software instead - that would be helpful as well as that is not easy to find online either.

The QuickTime player works on 64-bit systems. (It's a 32-bit application, but it should run fine using the standard 32-bit-on-64-bit Windows-on-Windows emulation.)
What's the precise text of your installation error message, dc? (There one or two different ones I can think of that might mention 32-bit)
