a little clarification.  The original install dvd is 10.5.5.  I installed mavericks over the net.

  • How can I get iPhoto back after clean install mac os x 10.8

    Hi All,
I have some problem after I upgrade mac from 10.7 to 10.8 with clean install I can't find it in app purchased from iTune.
Could you please advise me how to fix this problem.
    Thanks,

Most likely the original source is the App store (choice 2 in my answer) for this system. Look under the purchased tab in the app store while you are logged in under the Apple ID you regisitered the computer with

  • Installing iPhoto on a clean install of Snow Leopard

I bought a new Mac and gave my dad my old Macbook Pro (15 inch Core 2 Duo, 2006). I was running Snow Leopard on the laptop but I wanted to clean it off before giving it to him. So, I inserted the Snow Leopard disc, restarted the computer, held down C, and ran disk utility and erased it. Then I did a clean install of Snow Leopard. I didn't realize that SL did not contain iLife (I know, silly me). I would rather not reinstall Tiger, Leopard, and then Snow Leopard all over again, so is there any way to get iLife on the laptop?
So far, I have inserted the 2nd disc of Leopard and clicked on Install Bundled Software, but kept getting Alert: This software cannot be installed on this computer. And Insterting either of the Tiger discs does not work either.

Yes, older software will most of the time not load. Especially from a previous OSX. If I remember correctly I had to by iLife when I upgraded, I do have the disks, and I beleive I bought them after I installed SL. (SL did not come iLife)
They do offer iPhoto on the APP store, but that is V 9.51 which won't run on SL, the most 10.6.8 iPhoto is 9.2.3
The new iLife'11 has too new versions, that's why I said to buy the OLD version of '11
I have all those discs as well, I would not have bought "11 if I could have loaded off one of those discs.
Maybe someone knows a trick to make those old applcations load, and I would be most interested in finding how they did it.
    All the best

If you're running Mac OS X 10.8.x ou can purchase iPhoto version 9.x from the App Store. If you purchase iPhoto at the App Store you will automatically get the most up-to-date version and you won't need to install the 9.4 update.

  • How to uninstall Bridge to do a clean install?

How best should I uninstall Bridge (CS2) and all the other Adobe applications that might have anything to do with Bridge so that I can make a completely new clean install?
I have Photoshop CS2 (with ImageReady CS2) and InDesign CS2.
Separately I have Adobe Lightroom 2.3 but that does not use Bridge at all as far as I know. It even uses a different Camera Raw version.
Thanks for the assistance. I am trying to fix a problem where Bridge will not show me any thumbnails except a bunch of white boxes that are not even the correct number of thumbnails for the folder I am trying to display.
I asked a separate question about white thumbnails with no solutions be found.

    Hi John,
Tried all that - no luck in getting it fixed as the other discussion mentions.
Need to get rid of everything Bridge related so that I get a good fresh clean install. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop trying to get this fixed but to no avail, so thinking I need to really wipe out everything to do with CS2.  Photoshop and Bridge worked for several years, then something happened - probably having to do with the reinstalll of Win XP.
    Thanks for your reply.
    VB
I thought that might be the case.
So your best bet as you say is to uninstall normally from the Control Panel and then manually remove all files and folders related to CS2.
Remember this is not just in C:\Program files
    but also in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop\9.0
    and possibly C:\Program Files\Common Files.
I would then run a registry cleaner like CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/

  • How to restore 10.3 files after clean install of 10.4

I had Mac OS 10.3 and did a clean install to Tiger (10.4) earlier this year. I thought I backed up my Apple Mail, iPhoto and iTunes libraries but I did not do it properly. I lost my attachments, all my photos and tunes.
Is there anything that can be done to restore my Apple Mail, iPhoto and iTunes back to what it was when I had 10.3?
    Thanks,
    Cindy

Yes, there is a way, but are you sure you want to do that?
You can export your mail in mbox format by selecting the messages in Mail 2.x, doing File > Save As, and choosing Raw Message Source from the Format popup menu. You'll have to import those files into Mail 1.x doing File > Import Mailboxes and choosing Other / Standard mbox as the data format.
Alternatively, you can use an utility such as Emailchemy or emlx to mbox Converter to do the conversion.
Be sure to make a backup copy of the current ~/Library/Mail folder first and keep it until you've successfully completed the conversion, just in case.

  • How to get OS X LION to clean install on late 2007 Black MacBOOK 1.3?

    I recently bought a late 2007 Black MacBOOK 1.3.
Wanting to clean install LION, I formated the HDD and cleaned up the recovery partition by fusioning the two partitions!
I had to install LION with the use of a friends account.
This doesn't suit me because if I need something i'm depending of that friend.
Since LION is gone from the APP STORE (at least i'm not able to find it) i'd like to know how can I get it in a legal way to be able, if needed, to do a fresh install of Lion?
    Thanks in advance

  • How to read re-installed documents following a Clean Install( Mac Xv10.4.3)

Per Apple Store advice, I performed a Clean Install on my IMAC 600, OS Xv104.3.
I backed-up (first time user) using LaCie d2 Hard Drive 160GB, then re-installed the saved documents on the IMAC hard drive.
Attempting to open the re-installed documents, i get a warning window: "System Profiler can not open files in System Profiler format".
I am missing something simple here. Appreciate advice.
    Walter

When I go to File and Get Info which indicates that the Application opening the document is System Profiler, then change to TextEdit the document is opened in what appears to be code. How to I proceed? Thanks.

  • IPhoto missing after clean install of 10.6.3

I have an iMac 27" that came with intallation discs.
I had major problems with DVDSP (mostly related to either ProKit 6 or any of the 10.6.x updates)
After a clean install of 10.6.3 (and staying out of ProKit 6) my system now works fine.
I do have the 10.6.3 retail disc, as well as 10.6 retail disc (that does not work as install disc for my iMac).
But - iPhoto is missing. And for the moment I can't get hold of my original install discs for my iMac.
Is there any way of installing iPhoto anyway? I'd like to backup photos and movies on my iPhone.
My iMac identifies itself as an iMac 11,1 with SMC version 1.54f36
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

If you don't have the install disk then you're only option is to purchase it. The iLife apps are not pat of the OS so they are not on the 10.6 disks, only on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac.
Purchasing options are an iLife disk or upgrade 10.6 to a point where you can use the App Store.
Is there any way of installing iPhoto anyway? I'd like to backup photos and movies on my iPhone.
You don't need iPhoto for that. Check out Image Capture (in your Applications Folder)

  • Flash Player won't install even after a clean install (Attn: Chris Campbell)

    Hi there,
I'm using IE on a 64 bit Windows 7 system and am having the worst time trying to get Flash Player to work.  It was working fine before and then one day, just stopped working, so not sure if that was due to an update or not.  I've followed Chris Campbell's 'How do do a clean install' video a few times and still have not had any luck.  I did notice my system did not have some of the files he said to delete.
When deleting from '%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player', the file I had was NativeCache, not the same as he had.
Also, when deleting from '%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player', the file was not found at all, so I am wondering if it isn't installing this file in the first place.
When I've tried doing the install after following his directions, I still get the occasional warning to close Internet Exporer.  I've made sure I've closed all programs I can think of that could be causing this error and have even tried closing the browser with the download link in the first place.  Sometimes I still get that error, sometimes I don't, but still, no luck with the actual successful install.
    Please help!
    Thanks!!

Thank you so much for your support,GLPCPA.
It is a good idea but some Japanese can not do system restore(have no point of system restore).
So I want another new infos on adobe F player will not install after Antivirus 8 infection.

  • Installing Applications DVD after clean install of Snow Leopard

I've just finished a clean installation of Snow Leopard on My MacBook Pro. I've got a cd, called "Applications Install Disc", from which i was supposed to install Iphoto etc. But when i start installing, it says "Installation Failed". It says that an unknown failure has occured. Now i can't install these programs, and it's pretty sad.
    Anyone who can help?

Clean and polish the bottom of the disk with a bit of rubbing alcohol on a very soft clean cloth and try again.
If that doesn't work, use Pacifist to extract the iLife programs

  • Can't install Flash on Vista clean install

OK...I am thoroughly frustrated. I am working on a clean
install of Vista Ultimate, administrator account with all requisite
permissions, IE7 is conifgured to prompt for Active X, etc. Yet,
when I try to install Flash Player, I get to the screen that has
the green bars running across as if it is installing. Then, it
either runs forever, or I get a pop-up saying "Network Error" or
"Download Interrupted". I am able to download anything from every
other site on the web, so I am not worried about my network
settings. When I check system32/.Macromed directory, there is no
Flash sub-directory, only a Download directory. In that directory
are the following files: Install.exe and Download.dll.
Can anyone please help??? I am pulling my hair out (and I
    don't have a lot left!)
P.S. I have another Vista computer that has FLash on it. Can
I just copy the files from that computer?

That's interesting, and unusual. The two files that you DO
see are put there by the install process. They basically -are- the
    Flash Player installer.
If you were installing the Flash Player PLUGIN (for FireFox,
any non-IE windows browser) then you could copy it over. But for
the OCX activeX control install you cannot. It has to actually
    install.
Can you grab and post a screen shot of those errors? I don't
find any other similar cases in the database.. it's not clear to me
if they're coming from Vista or from the installer..

  • How to save Smart Folders for Leopard clean-install?

I'm doing a full wipe + install of Leopard when it comes out and was wondering where the smart folder settings were saved? Is it in a .plist?
    any help would be great

The file kind is called a 'Saved Search Query', although the format looks to be the same as a .plist - they can also be opened in a text editor or Property List Editor. You can save them pretty much anywhere you want, but there is a 'Saved Searches' folder in the user's Library folder.

  • How do I prep for re-install PSE 7 after clean install of vista/win7?

    Hi all,
I'm guessing that someone has been through this before and has some hints.
I'm running XP-32 and going to move to Win7-64, but plan to install Vista-64 Business 1st, to ease the migration pain(maybe?). Besides backing up my catalog to another drive, what other files do I need to backup? And I have heard that I need to do an uninstall of PSE7 first, so I don't have registration problems when I re-install.
    DJ

    Hi DocDJ,
You can go to adobe.com->Store->YourAccount->View Registrations->View Adobe Branded Registrations to see whether the PSE 7 copy on your machine is registered with Adobe or not.Naturally, if you are formatting the machine and then again installing PSE on new fresh machine, then PSE application will not be able to find the file which might be containing information that your registration information is being sent to Adobe and it will again display you with the registration information. But, you can either click on the Dont ask me again and live with it(since your information is already their on Adobe.com) or you can send in a fresh information to Adobe and they can update their records accordingly.
Apart from you files in Documents & Settings->Users area like catalog, filters, etc, I dont think you need to take back up of anything else (Of course, you will take back up of your pics.)
The only risk if any is that you will face the experience of first time user on the new OS. Regarding licensing data, you can just go ahead and use PSE on new machine, shouldnt be a issue unless you are using the downloaded TnB version of PSE 7 converted into full product because it gets activated and deactivated. So before uninstalling PSE 7 from the old OS you need to deactivate by going into the help menu.
In case you are using the box/retail/full version, then you will not see Help->Deactivate link in the help menu.
    Best Luck
