How do I install iTunes 10.5.3 on Windows Vista?

I've been trying for some time to install iTunes on my computer for some time now.  As I'm sure you're aware, the iPod Touch currently requires 10.5.3 in order to operate.  Here are the issues I've been having:
After the I run the Setup and the iTunes Installer starts to run, this message pops up maybe two minutes into the process:
An error occured during the installation of assembly
'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32".version="8.0.50727.
6195",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9alel8e3b",processo
rArchitecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support
for more information.  HRESULT: 0x80070002
I click Okay, and the installation process continues, up until the Status bar reads "Starting Services," at which point:
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device)
failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges
to start the system services.
Clicking "Retry" yields the same result, clicking "Ignore" skips to the end of the installation process, and clicking "Abort" rolls back the process and restarts at a certain point, until the end of the installation.  I get the "Congratulations!" screen, click "Finish" to exit the installer, but when iTunes tries to start up:
Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application support is required to run iTunes. Please
uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again.
Error 2 (Windows error 2)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times.  I have restarted the computer after uninstalling and waited to reinstall.  Nothing seems to work.  All of this is exactly what occurs and quite frankly, it's more trouble than it's worth.  If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know ASAP.

The forums for members of Apple's developer programs are here:
http://developer.apple.com/devforums/
If you're not doing development yourself, I would advise against installing either iTunes 10.5 or especially iOS 5. Both are beta software and almost certainly have faults and incomplete features. You definitely should not install iOS 5 on any device you depend on for general use.
Regards.

How can I install Itunes 10.6 on my windows Vista 64?

No, but you do at least have to buy Snow Leopard. Whether you can run it depends on what iMac you have:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from download, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $30.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number.
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:

I have eventually managed to resolve my issue by:
    1) Installing "Segoe UI" fonts in the C:\Windows\Fonts folder.
    2) Changing my default colour profile to "sRGB Color Space Profile".
Navigate to My Computer > Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Color Management.
Click Add button and select sRGB Color Space Profile.icm from the Add Profile Association pop-up window.
    Select sRGB Color Space Profile.
Click on the Set as Default button.
    Click on Apply, OK, OK.

  • Installing iTunes 7.0.2 on Windows Vista X64

    Hey guys,
Sorry if this has been covered in the past, I looked over the forum and couldn't find anything on this. However I have a solution for installing iTunes 7.0.2 on Windows Vista x64.
What was happening was that anytime I installed iTunesSetup.exe from Windows Vista x64 it said it couldn't find QuickTime and aborted the install. Well what was happening is that all 32 bit installers now go to the "Program Files (x86)" directory. And the install team at Apple hard coded iTunes Install to look for the QuickTime folder in "c:\Program Files" instead of getting the location provided by the OS ("c:\Program Files (x86)\"). So it blows up when it cannot find the QuickTime directory in the wrong location.
First download QuickTimeInstaller.exe and install QuickTime. (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/)
Move the QuickTime folder from c:\Program Files (x86) to c:\Program Files
Then download iTunesSetup.exe and install iTunes. (http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/)
Worked perfectly for me. Let me know if anybody has any problems. I would also like to forward what I found to apple so that they can fix this in the future. Does anybody know a good source to send this too?

    Maybe you can hel me
Im unable to install itunes 7.0.2 because each time I try to i get an error message saying I have insufficient access to that key...the key being HKEYlocalmachine\software\microsoft windows\...etc, etc. etc...
    Can you helP???

  • Can't Install iTunes on my laptop with Windows Vista...PLEASE HELP

I've received error messages every time I try to download iTunes. I've tried the troubleshooting steps on Apple's website but no luck.

Good lord ... a bit of an alphanumeric soup there ...
It's not clear initially which is the fundamental error here. But based on the fact that the 8007371b can be fixed by the System Update Readiness Tool, we might try a manual install of that first. There's information on how to do that in the *Information for Advanced Users* section of the following document.
[Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821]
Installing the tool will run the tool.
After the installation of the tool, restart the PC. Then go back to Windows Update, and attempt to stock up again on Windows Updates. Do they download and install correctly? If so, because you might be a reasonable way behind on updates, keep going back to Windows update until it stops offering you new updates.
Once you're stocked up again, restart the PC again, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Help with installing itunes 7.1.1 on windows vista please!

I am trying to install itunes 7.1.1 on my parents new computer. It has windows vista factory installed. I downloaded the installer, clicked on it to install and it stuck to the "preparing installation" message. No errors, no computer freezing. when i open the itunesetup.exe file, nothing happens, not even an error message..... i deleted the file and tried to re download it, but i just got the same download super fast and the same problem... the new file doesn't open at all.... it shows up on the processes segement of the task manager for a second, disappers, and it still won't even get to the first screen of the instalation process.... **** updates.....

  • HT1925 I can't install iTunes 11.1.4 on Windows Vista...

The message I keep getting is "MSVCR80.dll is not found. Re-installing will fix this problem."
    ....ater 4 attempts, it DIDN'T...HELP!!!!!!!

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • Hi. I can't seem to install iTunes 10.5 on my Windows Vista Starter laptop.

Each time I try (about six times in the past 5 hours), this pops up: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I've tried a bunch of methods I found online (regedit, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc.) but I was hoping you could recommend a better solution.
    Help, please?

Hi again! Fixed it myself, but here's what I did (in case anyone else encounters the same problem):
Control Panel > Programs and Features > Add or Remove Programs
    1. Uninstall iTunes (if you're upgrading, but if it's a fresh install, disregard this step)
    2. Uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support
    3. Uninstall Apple Application Support
    4. Uninstall Bonjour
    5. Repair Apple Software Update. If you can't, try uninstalling. I couldn't uninstall or repair mine (the same error message appeared) so I used Microsoft Fixit Engine (http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall) to uninstall it.
    6. Download the iTunes installer and run it. Voila!

  • Unable to install iTunes 8.1.1 for windows vista home premium 32 bit

When program is installing from version 7.3, a message comes up stating I have a newer version of QuickTime which is impossible. Having purchased a new iPod Nano I cannot use it because iTunes 8.1.1 has not worked out bugs, or so it seems, to download it successfully. If anyone has had this happen and figured out what the problem is, I would love to read your answer.

    Hi,
Yes, I have followed the troubleshooting tips in the following article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926.
I still had the issue after removing the application and cleaning up the installer files on my computer.
Two weeks ago I spoke with Apple technical support. We were unable to come to any conclusion as to any reason why the computer states there is a newer version of QuickTime.
Quite frustrating having purchased an iPod Nano.

    Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
    START/CONTROL PANEL/Programs n Features/highlight ASU and click REPAIR,

  • TS3212 Cannot install iTunes to my PC running Windows Vista. Message "The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory....Log on as administrator." I am logged on as administrator. I am attempting to install from download by right-clicki

I've had iTunes on my PC forever. Because recent updates have aborted with the message:"The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory... Log on as administrator," I am now attempting to download a fresh copy from the Apple website. Same message! I am logged on as administrator. I can download, then attempt to run by right-clicking on the installer and selecting, "Run as administrator" but that gets me only to the same point (and message) as attempting to install directly from the internet. I've never seen this message with any other download. What gives?

What's the precise name of the directory being mentioned? (Give the full file path, please.)
