If you're not doing development yourself, I would advise against installing either iTunes 10.5 or especially iOS 5. Both are beta software and almost certainly have faults and incomplete features. You definitely should not install iOS 5 on any device you depend on for general use.

  • How can I find itunes 10.1 for windows.  I don't want the cloud in newer version.

How can I find iTunes 10.1 for windows.  I don't want the cloud, and my iPod touch won't go back to prior versions.

Had the same problem. Also worked fine on my MacBook, but not on my new iMac. Here's what I did to fix it:
Archive and Reinstall Mac OS (takes about 40 minutes). This reverted my system back to 10.6.2. Just pop in your Mac OS disc that came with your computer. Mine had 10.6.2 on it, and "Archive and Install" is the default option. When it's done, run software update and update everything. Now it all works fine.
Somewhere along the way, some file got corrupted somehow. But doing an "archive and install" of your OS undoes whatever file damage was incurred, and allows everything to update normally via Software Update as it should.

  • Whilst I'm installing ITunes v.11 in Windows 7...

Whilst I'm installing ITunes v.11 in Windows 7, the process almost completes fully, but for 1 error message which pops up right at the end...it doesn't seem to affect use of the program to much, but I've found out that it needs a program called bojour, which enables communication between my pc and the ITunes Store...It does also suggest  that I check "my privaleges" which I find confusing...
This is the actual wording that's displayed when it pops up.
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privilages to start system services.
Does anyone know where and how I can find in windows 7, how I can view and change my privileges to have a successful installation.
I installed the v.9 first, took that off, done a complete system "spring clean-up", got rid of ell the gunk or unwanted files that clog up my registry, then I de-fgragged my entire registry, scanned my hard drives for viruses with Norton Internet Security 2012, and basically, made sure that what shouldn't have been there, WASN'T there and was gone...
But then, I re-installed ITunes v.11 again, but to no avail, this error message still kept popping up.

Further on from this first question I've just asked...I am now getting a 2nd error message pop up at me, but this time, I have an error number to give out...
The number is: 42404, which tells me of a missing oart that's not been installed in my copy of ITunes...It doesn't state exactly what this part is or what function it's part plays with this program, and what it's connection to it is...and yet again, it doesn't seem to de-stabalise or corrupt the program in any way...
So if anyone knows what this error message refers to.....and what it means, then please reply back ASAP...
    Thank You...

You should be able to uninstall iTunes by going into Control Panel on your computer, finding iTunes in the list of your installed programs, highlighting it, and clicking Uninstall at the top of that list.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you still have trouble you might consider installing the alternate version iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards) where you can download a 64-bit installer for the 32-bit version of iTunes that works with older video cards. This version may also be useful for anyone who is unable to get the 64-bit version of Apple Application Support to install when using the itunes6464setup file, or has trouble with playback of certain video files despite having QuickTime installed.

    I have a windows 7 64x SP1.
Every time I install iTunes 12 I get this message when I try to open it:"This copy of iTunes is damaged and it has not been correctly installed. Please, install iTunes again.(-42404)".
The instalation process runs smoothly without any error message and iTunes has been installed in my computer before. The problem started with the update no. 12. Any idea what's going on? Thank you

if itunes will not run, you probably have mangled windows badly
one feature of windows 8 is the refresh that saves libraries,
because you are using windows 7, you will need to backup all files to another storage device

  • Why did the iTunes update screw up the already installed iTunes on my computer?  I can't sync my iPod to my computer because it now says iTunes was installed incorrectly.  Re-install iTunes.  I've tried to install it 3 different times.  It's NOT working.

I had attempted to update my iTunes so I could go ahead and clear out some of my songs on my iPod that I no longer care to listen to at the moment.  When I finished updating and attempted to open iTunes, I was given an error
These are the two error messages.  I've tried uninstalling and re-installing several times.  Still receiving the same errors....  Help.

    Hi carmekino,
Try using the following article to help you uninstall iTunes and its related components, keeping in mind that these components need to be uninstalled in this specific order:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
If this does not resolve your issue, this article provides some further troubleshooting steps:

Each time I try to install itunes I get a windows installer message telling me that the installation package could not be opened.  Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package.....

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

    Hello
I Installed Itunes 11.0 on Windows 7 64-bit and I can download podcasts and it will sync,
but after downloading app updates and clicking done,
Itunes crashes immediately when it tries to access the itunes store.
If I try to access the Itunes store though Itunes at any time it crashes.  CrashTunes?
Ninetynine percent of the time I don't want to go to the Itunes store ...
I want to sync my updated pocasts and updated apps to the phone and leave.
not half-sync my phone, crash and repeat until I get the timing right,
then have to break more traffic laws that usual to get to work on time.
    Sorry for the vent,

After numerous calls with Apple support, I finally got it working
For me, the problem was the following:
    1. Make sure that Internet Explorer is your standard browser for windows (if not...make it)!
    2. In Internet Explorer go to "Internet Options" then "Advanced"
    3. In the list scroll down to "Security" and UNCHECK "Check for server certificate revocation"
    4. Make sure that (a bit further down) "Use SSL 3.0" and "Use TLS 1.0" are CHECKED.
    5. Delete the "SC Info" folder once again...
    6. Run iTunes in Admin-Mode
After that, I was able to activate my computer and I changed my browser back to Firefox afterwards...
Hope that will help you too !!
    Cheers
