How do I install Mac OS X version 10.6

I have a silver MacBook from 2009 with Mac OS 10.5.8 installed. I need an upgrade into the 10.6 version, but I don't know how to get it. Any idea?

    Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
    You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
    You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
    After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
    If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
    You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
    To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
           Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
    To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
             See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

  • How to Clearly Install Mac OS X Version 10.4.9

    Note this worked for all my Friends, and they all Have MacBook Pro's.
    but this doesnt mean it could work for you, depending on youre Macs Condition
    First Thing. Do not install it from software Update.
    Instead Go to: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1049updateintel.html (if you have and Intel Based Mac)
    Or Here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1049updateppc.html ( If you Have PPC)
    While downloading, go to Finder>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility.
    When in Disk Utility, Highlight or click on the Macintosh HD, and click on the Repair Disk Permissions button.
    When Disk Permission is Finished, go Back to the istalling update from the websites. After the Update Is Finished, install the Update into your HD and wait for the it to Finish.
    Note: Do Not race time and hit Restart!
    When you are at the Finish section, go back to Disk Utility, and Repair Disk Permissions again.
    When Finished, Go Back to the Mac OSX 10.4.9 update and Hit Restart.
    The Disk Permissions should fix the Sleep/freeze Problem, and safley install the update.
    There are yet to be any flaws or bugs to be discovered after this process, but you could ask the forums if there will be any :P.
    Good Luck, and hope this 10.4.9 epedemy ( :P ) will be over!

    This information and workflow is in the Tiger forums and has been for years. It is not MacBook Pro specific and is an OSX best practice.

  • How can I install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Mac OS X Tiger?

    Hello. Can someone tell me how I can install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Mac OS X Tiger? I have the disk, but when I open the installer, I get a message saying that Snow Leopard could not be installed on my computer and it could only be installed on a Intel-Based Mac. This is a PowerPC Mac, so that makes sense.
    So, I'm trying to ask how to make my Mac an Intel-Based Mac so I could install Snow Leopard. Or if I can't do that, I need to know how to install Snow Leopard some other way. Please help.

    Just an FYI, the Mac App Store was introduced with Mac OS X 10.6.6.    However the rest of what you say is accurate.
    10.6.8 is required if you want to upgrade certain Macs beyond 10.7.5 without having to reformat the drive you are installing the operating system on and without having to install some version of 10.7 first.
    One can actually install 10.7 or later if you maintain an original copy of the full installer of the operating system in question for your personal use without having to have the prerequisite operating system installed, if the hardware supported it.  But that's a discussion for another forum.
    For HFTaylor,
    Consider buying a used or refurbished Mac with an Intel CPU depending on your needs.  Read this tip about the migration of data from PowerPC to Intel before proceeding:

  • How do i install mac os x on a previously owned macbook without their password?

    how do i install mac os x on a previously owned macbook without their password?

    Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
    When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart.

  • How do i install Mac OSX Leopard on other drive

    how do i install Mac OSX Leopard on a drive other than my Snow Leopard computer? I need to access old files that will not open with new OS.

    Simple. When you get the prompt to install Snow Leopard on your existing computer you will see a button that says "change destination disk..." or words to that effect.
    You can select any mounted volume. If that volume already has a later version of OS X installed, you will need to erase it first using Disk Utility.

  • I want to de-install mac-excel test version and get the error message: you have not the privileges to de-install. Please login with the Mac-OS account you have installed mac-excel originally'. I don't know this account anymore. I am sysadm

    I want to de-install mac-excel test version and get the error message: 'You have not the privileges to de-install. Please login with the Mac-OS account you have installed mac-excel originally'. I don't know this account anymore. Possibly it does not exist anymore. anybody out there who can help ?

    Hi, I may suggest to activate the root account and try the uninstall process from that account. To do so, you have to:
    Go to System Preferences a open up the Users pane;
    On the left side of the pane, you shuold see Login Options;
    Enabled editing option clicking on the lock (it will ask your password);
    Once the pane is enabled, you should see something like Server Account Network (sorry my OS is in italian, so I don't exactly know the right translation), and right next to it a button;
    Click on that button, and a new pane shows up. Click on Open Directory Utility, and on the upper bar of OS X click on Edit;
    Select Enable Root Account (you can set a password, or not);
    Done that, you should log out and when the login window show up, type on the user field "root" and the password you choose;
    Theorically, from this account you will be able to unistall the application.
    After completing your task, I reccomend you to disable the root account, just by loggin in your personal account and repeating the steps I described before. Hope it helps

  • In windows how do we install and activite multiple versions of tuxedo at the same time ?

    Hi All,
    In windows how do we install and activate multiple versions of tuxedo at the same time ?
    Advance wishes

    You can run different versions of Tuxedo on the same server, as long as they are installed in different directories.
    See PeopleTools 8.53 installation manual Task 3-1: Installing Oracle Tuxedo
    You can install Oracle Tuxedo once for each release on a machine, regardless of the number of PeopleSoft
    applications or databases the server supports. For example, if you are a PeopleSoft 9.1 customer and have
    Oracle Tuxedo 6.5 installed, you may install Oracle Tuxedo 6.5 and Oracle Tuxedo 11gR1 on the same
    machine in separate directories. For example:
    On Windows, you may install into C:\oracle\tuxedo11gR1_VS2010 and C:\tux65.
    On UNIX, you may install into /home/oracle/tuxedo11gR1 and /prod/tuxedo/6.5.
