How do i install patches?

I found patches for adobe indesign, dreamweaver, along w/ brushes and a plug in for ps, but im not sure i installed them correctly.  With programs, you drag the icon to your applications folder, but I downloaded to desktop, inzipped or clicked on HD symbol which gave a folder. Inside folder was ADOBE INSTALL, i clicked & it said complete, but do i keep the folders and put them somewhere, or can it all be trashed now?

If you have applied the updates then you are welcome to delete them.

    I am new to solaris
how do i install patches from cd.
I am running solaris 8 and cannot go to sun web site on the sunblade 150 due to old version of netscape, cannot upgrade to mozilla without patches. Please help

Depending on what your CD is, the easiest way is to copy the patches off into /tmp, unzip them and cd to /tmp/<patchdir> (where they were unzipped to) and look for a file called install_cluster and run that. That will be the case if it is a 'Sunsolve CD'. You may need, depending on what patches are included, to bring the server down to single user to install.
If they are just a 'random' bunch of patches then you may have more problems in getting the order in which to install them correct - redoing the patchadd command until all that will install are installed is one, really, REALLY, inelegant way of doing that. Failing that, looking through all the readmes to find out any pre-reqs will be required.

Do I install them after installing Oracle 8.1.6? and before installing IFS?

  • How can I check the installed patches ?

    Hi,
I am using WLS 10.3.2.0 and I need to check the installed patches. What will be the easiest/reliable way to do it ? I can access the console and file system.
    Thanks

I was referring to the server log files, named <ServerName>.log, which is located in the directory as you pointed out.
    D:\Oracle\11gFusion\user_projects\domains\MyDomain\servers\AdminServer\logs\AdminServer.log
    D:\Oracle\11gFusion\user_projects\domains\MyDomain\servers\MyServer\logs\MyServer.log
Please look for log message with messageID, BEA-141107. Search/grep BEA-141107 in your log files.
This log message is generated within the first 10 log messages when the server is started/restarted. If no patches are applied, it will look as below:
    <Apr 12, 2012 10:56:38 AM IST> <Info> <Management> <BEA-141107> <Version: WebLogic Server 10.3.2.0 Tue Oct 20 12:16:15 PDT 2009 1267925 >
If your log file is rotated, then you might find this in one of the rotated log files (AdminServer.log00001).
The idea is to check this message during startup to understand if a patch is picked up by the server or not.
As far as I understand, OPatch can not be used to patch Oracle WebLogic Server.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15586_01/doc.1111/e16793/opatch.htm#CBHCHIDH
You might be applying a patch to one of the overlaying products (FMW) like SOA, WebCenter that run on top of WebLogic Server.
OPatch and BSU are two different tools to apply patches, so BSU can not list the patches applied through OPatch and similarly OPatch will not be able to list the patches applied through BSU.
Regarding using BSU to apply patches: (check the second point about the zip file. We can not directly use the zip file)
If you have access to My Oracle Support (MOS), you can find detailed instructions with examples in KM note ID: 876004.1
Here are the same steps for your reference:
    1. Download the patch from My Oracle Support (MOS). For more details, please refer to Master Note: How to Locate and Download Patches for WebLogic Server Using My Oracle Support Note 1302053.1.
    2. Extract the contents from the zip file: you will have a jar file and patch-catalog_xxx.xml. A readme file may also be included.
NOTE: If you do not see a <patchID>.jar in the downloaded zip file, it is very likely that it is not a WebLogic Server patch.
    3. Copy the files (for example, W6PT.jar) and the patch-catalog_xxx.xml from the zip file to the target machine. You do not need the readme file. Copy the files to the appropriate cache_dir directory for the target system: for example, $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/utils/bsu/cache_dir.
    4. Run the $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/utils/bsu/bsu.sh script as shown in the below example to apply the patch
    SYNTAX:
    ./bsu.sh -prod_dir=$WEBLOGIC_HOME -patchlist=<patchID> -verbose -install
    FOR EXAMPLE:
    ./bsu.sh -prod_dir=/opt/oracle/wlserver_10.3 -patchlist=W6PT -verbose -install
If you want an example to test for WLS10.3.2, please use patchNumber 9456759 to test.

  • How to install patches with .bin extension

I have downloaded Solaris_JDK_1.2.2_07_sparc.bin patches, but how can
i install this ?? It is not like .tar.gz.....Help

    Hi,
Did you download the patches or the JDK kit?
Based on the file you said you downloaded it looks like you downloaded the whole JDK 1.2.2_07 kit. If you wish to install this all you have to do is download or move the file to where you want it to install and change the permissions on the file so you can execute it (chmod 755 Solaris_JDK_1.2.2_07_sparc.bin) then in a terminal just type:
    #Solaris_JDK_1.2.2_07_sparc.bin.
This will install it for you. Make sure you update your path and any links that might be pointing to older versions of the JDK to the new JDK you just installed.
If you it was the patches you ment to download the file you download should look something like "1.2.2_07_patches_sparc_OSVERISON.tar"
to see what patches you have installed in a terminal type:
    #showrev -p
To install the patches you need to extract the patch archives you wish to install. And then issue the following command:
    #patchadd -M <your_patch_directory> <patch-id>
Please also consult the README files that come along with the patches as they might be of use to you also.
    Hope This Helps

  • How to install patchs in linux

    Hi Friends,
I am new person. How do I install oracle patchs in linux redhat 5.0 system?
Plz show me some steps in detail.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hi Jim
    Sorry for the late answer.
What patches are we taking about?
Oracle patches? Yes then you have to use
    0. First read the installation note given on metalink it gives your a detailled description what shall be done.
In metalink go to Patches & updates
make a simple search on your patch and read the read me file
Please control also that the file downloaded is consitent by controlling the value of the "patch digest"
    for example :
    File      Digests
    p7369190_10203_Linux-x86-64.zip
    SHA-1      295AF3B7585BB00093CF7DB25A314E750B3A76AE
    MD5      7D1C9C9B36D646E557DE250458067B1B
    i.e.
to list all the installed patches :
    $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory
    unzip p7369190_10203_<platform>.zip
    cd 7369190
    opatch napply -skip_subset -skip_duplicate
And if the patch is changing something in the datadictionary :
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/cpu/CPUOct2008
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
    SQL> STARTUP
    SQL> @catcpu.sql
    SQL> QUIT
    cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
    sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT / AS SYSDBA
    SQL> @utlrp.sql
You can check for any invalid objects by executing following statement:
    SQL> SELECT OBJECT_NAME FROM DBA_OBJECTS WHERE STATUS= 'INVALID';
    Voilà !
    more question please ask!

  • How to install patches in DWM?

I've been trying but I can't figure out how to install patches in DWM. For instance I'm trying to install the Fancybar pathc from the DWM. I tried to do this by going to my dwm directory, run patch -p1 < ~/fancybar-r1496.diff, then rebuild DWM with makepkg -efi --skipinteg and finally restart DWM.. But it doesn't work
    What am I doing wrong?

patroclo7 wrote:If you compile dwm, by hand, you obviously need to run plain "make clean install" and not resort to makepkg. If you want to resort to makepkg (which is in this specific case, IMOO, overkill) you can: apply the patch in the PKGBUILD itself; apply the patch by hand in $startdir/src/dwm-<version>, but then you need to use the specific option "-e", so to instruct makepkg to use the existing $startdir/src without untarring again the source tarball.
Well, the reason I'm using PKGBUILD is because that's what the Arch Wiki says. But if make's better then I'll use that instead. How exactly do I do that?

  • How to run R12 Oracle E-Business Suite Pre-install Patches Report

    Hi.
I have downloaded, unzipped this report as per R12 Oracle E-Business Suite Pre-install Patches Report [Video] (Doc ID 1448102.1)
    What then? The instructions say
Unzip the file, extracting the entire contents, which creates the "EBS_12.1_Preinstall" folder. (The unzipped folder will use <1 MB of storage space.)
    Navigate to the EBS_12.1_Preinstall folder
Open the file 'index.html' in a browser
Do not rename any of the the files in the EBS_12.1_Preinstall folder. Such an action will break the report.
But the "Index" is supposed to show what? At the moment all I see is a number of sections that have nothing in them (the other html pages, like AP etec, do provide information)
    11.5.10.2
    RHEL 5.5
    11.2.0.3

    Hi,
But the "Index" is supposed to show what? At the moment all I see is a number of sections that have nothing in them (the other html pages, like AP etec, do provide information)
Please see the FAQ section of the note. Specifically please refer quesions:
    - Does the report list all types of pre-install patches available on My Oracle Support?
    - Is this list of pre-install patches specific to a particular Oracle E-Business Suite release?
    Thanks &

  • How do I install a single patch?

I want to install patch BEA04_61 on WLS 8.1 SP2. I only want to install this patch and nothing else. The patch is comprised of a jar file that contains the class SSLSocketImpl.class. I've found this class in weblogic.jar and webserviceclient+SSL.jar. Where are the instructions specific to this patch that tell what to do with it? I assume I replace the class in weblogic.jar but I want specific documentation telling me to do that.

  • How to install patch 4923768

I recently downloaded the patch 4923768 for Oracle client 10g. In the installation instructions, it mentions to apply the patch using OPatch. I already see the OPath folder in the C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\client_1 directory, but I am not sure how to enter the command. Do I have to do it using DOS window or any other tool. I don't have an Oracle admin in our company, so I am trying to figure out how to apply this patch on client workstations.
Is there any other way (than OPath) to apply patches to Oracle client?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
Do I have to do it using DOS window or any other toolYes, you should use DOS window.
Is there any other way (than OPath) to apply patches to Oracle client?
OPatch is the tool to use so as to apply intermediates Patches.
You should read carrefully the Readme and, check the OPacth release before running it.
    Hope this help.

  • How to list Ciscoworks patches that installed on server

We have LMS3.2,CS3.3 and RME 4.3.1 on solaris 9 and I want to know what were cisco patches installed on the server in order to install other patches without any problem.

If you are looking to just make your LMS current, the update feature tht's built into CiscoWorks will do that for you. If you're looking for offline verification to download and install patches / updates manually, there's an install.log created whenever an update is performed. It's parsed nicely for you if you just go to the GUI (Reference) by selecting Common Services > Software Center > Software Update.
There is also a compilation of the various CiscoWorks applications and version in this document. It is more recent than the FAQ link posted above.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to know which patch is installed?

    Hi,
I would like to know patch version installed on running server. I would like to apply patches for 9.3.1 for Shared services, Planning, Essbase and BI+. What is best way? so that i can check support path before applying new patches.
Does "HSS>Help>About shared services> Version" provide correct details; similarly for other hyperion component.
    Existing Version: 9.3.1+patches
target version: 9.3.1 +latest patches (but lower than 9.3.3)
    Regards
    Kumar

    Hi,
after installing patches for Financial Reporting, Web Analysis and Workspace in our environment (9.3.1) we had problems using help-->about menu - the installed versions were no longer displayed correctly. Oracle support gave us the following workaround:
To implement the workaround solution please execute the following steps:
+1. Open the HReports.jar file under the BIPLUS_HOME (Hyperion\BIPlus\lib) using WinZip or 7-Zip)+
+2. Locate the Manifest.mf file and open using a TextPad Editor+
+3. Check and confirm at the bottom of the file contains the relating correct version of Financial Reporting and Service Pack adopted+
--> To find the installed version one possibility is to search for the relevant manifest.mf files.....
    Kind regards
