How do i install safari 5.1 or above?

how do i install safari 5.1 or above?

You can't on a PowerBook; any Safari version newer than 5.0.6 requires at least Mac OS X 10.6, which requires an Intel Mac.

  • How to re-install Safari 3?

    Hi,
I need to use a web-based conferencing application called Elluminate, which is widely used in further education. Since installing Safari v 4, it no longer works. I have to use it via Internet Explorer on Windows XP under Parallels! I downloaded the latest update to Safari today but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know how to re-install Safari 3? Or is there anyone else out there who uses Elluminate and has found a way of working around this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I've done a bit more research, based on some info I found on this site. By running the JNLP file from a terminal window, I get this:
    iMac:Desktop grahamcarter$ javaws meeting-1.jnlp
iMac:Desktop grahamcarter$ JAWTServices.<clinit>: Loaded cocoa window services lib version 1.0.1
Loaded native library JINECELP, version 1.5

which looks like something that's way beyond me! Looks like a major bug that Apple need to be looking at
Re-installing the OS sounds a bit daunting - and I guess that I'd have to be careful to ensure I don't unwittingly re-update to version 4 when running the software updater. Sad though this might sound, I think I'll end up using Elluminate under Windows until Apple come up with something.
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

  • How do I install safari 6

How do I install safari 6        now using 5.1.8

Safari 6 requires Mac OS X 10.7 or newer. If you have a Core 2 Duo or better Mac with at least 2GB of RAM(choose About this Mac from the Apple menu), buy Mac OS X 10.8 from the online Apple Store. If your Mac isn't compatible with it, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for 10.7.
Core Duo Macs can't be upgraded past 10.6.8.

  • How do I install safari on original iPad

Settings, safari, only lists bing, yahoo and google as options and not safari.  How do I put safari on the list?

You ARE using Safari as your web browser. Google is either the website you last visited (which is why Safari shows it when you tap the icon) or Google is set as the seach site for Safari, so when you search the web, the results come from Google.

  • How do I install Safari on 10.6.8?

Recently Safari started acting up. It kept crashing immediately after launching it. Every single time. This actually happened once before, after I installed new memory from Crucial, so I deleted Safari and downloaded it again from Apple.com. I don't think I should have had to do that, but it solved the problem.
So since I started having the same problem, I tried the same solution, except the installer for Safari says I need 10.6.7 but I'm running 10.6.8.. I prefer Safari to other browsers. Is there way to install it again?

Install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
Then restart your Mac. That should reinstall Safari for you.

  • How can I install Safari for Yosemite after I uninstalled Safari?

I uninstalled Safari hoping to remove some type of bug that I could not remove in extensions or add-ons. Last resort type of thing. I do not have the installation disc since I made the upgrade via the App Store. The only solution I see is a reinstallation of Yosemite which seems like using a tunicate when a bandaid would do.
    Thanks.

You will need to reinstall Yosemite:
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • How do I uninstall Safari 5.0.6 and re-install an older version?

I have an older iMac running Leopard OS X 10.5.8 and I accidently downloaded and installed a version of Safari (5.0.6) that is not supported by Leopard OS X 10.5.8. So now my old version of Safari is gone and I cannot figure out how to un-install Safari 5.0.6. I downloaded an older version of Safari (5.0.3) that should be supported by OS X 10.5.8 but when I go to install it, I get the error message that "a newer version of Safari already exists". Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you have a Time Machine backup, you can try starting from the Mac OS X DVD (pressing C key while your Mac is starting) and select the option to restore the Time Machine backup on Utilities menu.
If you haven't got a backup, you have to reinstall Mac OS X. Insert the Mac OS X DVD and reinstall Leopard. After reinstalling Mac OS X, open  > Software Update to install the most recent version, so Safari will be working after doing this

  • Re-installing safari.

I updated to Safari 3.1 and can not enter data into search string like Google and the like. Safari 3.1 crashes at the second character entry. Having reported this to Apple, and read the crash report it apperas to be a kernel problem. FireFox runs pefectly sso it must be a Safari 3.1 problem and going back to the previous version is probable the simplest thing to do. The problem however is that Safari is on the second Tiger 10.4.11 installation disk and I have not been able to "get-to-it". Can anyone tell me how to re-install safari from the second install disk without installing anything else? A few weeks ago there was an article on this problem in either the imac World or an Aple weekly bullitin of some kind. Please reply to this request or send reply to [email protected]

Ys, I did and frankly, that is what I may have to do. I got mu iMac June last year and have had PC's since 1978 starting with a radioshack trs 80 but never, in all those years, I been confronted with so much manufacture indifference as Apple has toward their customers. The tech support is just not there unless you payyyyy! Most of the time these OS problems are created by the OS itself but help to get it rectified is not there. Microsoft has always been more helpful then what I am experiencing now. Oh well, I sstill can run Safari under the Boothcamp - XP platform.

  • Need to re-install Safari on OS X

Recently got my imac OS X and for some reason, i can't download safari. The downloads all say something to the effect that they can't be installed on this (intel) mac.
The version that came with the Mac was trashed (don't ask, that's another story altogether).
Any ideas how I can install safari again on this computer?
    Thanks in advance, Craig

    Hi Craig
you can follow the instructions here to obtain Safari from your install disks; after which you will need to download & install the appropriate 10.4.8 combo update for your mac (ppc or intel) to bring Safari up to the latest version.
Alternatively, you might want to consider this thread where I gave a link to a zipped version of Safari 2.0.4, the latest one. If you use that , be sure to place the unzipped app in your Applications folder & use Disk Utility to 'Repair Permissions' afterwards.
