How do I install second party plugins?

Curious as I did it in CS4, but CS5 is giving me trouble or I had a lapse. I wish to install Topaz Fusion express 64 bit, Wacom Intous tablet, photo matrix pro, and Nik Viviza. I thought I would start with the Topaz labs fusion express, I navigated to the the Photoshop/ preferences/plug ins/ checked the additonal plug in folder box then navigated PS to program files (X86)/common files/topaz/fusionexpress, the the EXE files is not visible from within the Photoshop program. The EXE file is there when I navigate to it using my computer. I do not know why is did not import the plugins in when I downloaded and lauched the PS install wizard in CS5 as LR3 did. If you can help me with the other plugins mentioned above it would be great as I do not wanna screw this up. All of these are compatible with 64 bit as they worked in CS4.
Thank you for your help, Tollie Perry in NEPA

Generally speaking, first try to use their installer, if they provide one.
If your version is older than the Photoshop release you're running, then the installer probably won't recognize that version of Photoshop.  In that case you should seek an update from the maker of the plug-in.  They might have had to do things to the plug-in besides just in the installer to make it compatible with the latest version of Photoshop.
It's possible a particular plug-in doesn't actually have an installer, but is of the old form where you just copy a file into a subfolder in the Photoshop installation area.  That's really bad practice nowadays, since everything is moving toward more restrictive permissions and things are supposed to be installed per user (rather than for all users on a machine).  But if you DO have such a plug-in, you'll need to copy it to the proper plug-ins subfolder in the Photoshop installation area, which may involve running Explorer as Administrator, and answering some security prompts before the system allows you to do so.
One better way to manage this is to put all your external ("2nd party") plug-ins in a separate folder, then use the Photoshop configuration to point Photoshop at that folder via the "Extra plug-ins folder" configuration item under Edit - Preferences - Plug-ins.  Then, when you get the next version of Photoshop, all you'll have to do is to point the Extra plug-ins folder setting at your folder and you're done.
Never point the Extra plug-ins folder from one version of Photoshop into the installation area for another version of Photoshop, though.

Via Javascripting. Look for Flash detection kits at the
    Adobe/Maromedia web
site and also at Internet search engines.
As well this forum focuses on database access issues and you
    might find more
takers for this type of question in the Flash General forum.

how can i get 3rd party plugins for logic such as massive or nexus?

  • How can we install the Java Plugin from the html page

    Hi,
I am using java plugin 1.3.1_02 for my applet pages.
How can I install that plugin in the client machine without installing manually.

    </OBJECT>
But it is downloading java plugin 1.3.1_03.
    Can anybody help me
    Thanks & Regards
    Raja

Using object tags is the correct way and only way to download the plugin and let the client decide whether he can download it r not. There is no way to install automatically
I dont think there is a way to install automatically without a user intervention coz, it can open the floodgates for potential hackers.
Can u cite an example about which programs can be installed automatically and why do u want the plugin to be installed automatically?
    ciao

  • How do you install 3rd party plug-in in Photoshop CC

Our fine customer service/tech support wouldn't help me with my question/problem because 3rd party plug-ins are not an Adobe product.... Silly, isn't it since all I want to know is how do you install "any" plug-ins into Adobe Photoshop CC. Can anyone with any sanity here offer a solution?
    Thanks.

It could be complex depending on your OS and user ID permissions.    Adobe Photoshop CC Mac version only supports new Mac with Intel 64bit processors, Photoshop CC windows supports  both 64 bit systems and 32 bit systems.  If you have a 64 bit system both the 32 bit and 64 bit version of Photoshop are installed so windows has both a 32 bit Plug-in Folder and a 64 Bit Plug-in Folder.  Prior to CC Photoshop Preference let you add you own Plug-in folder tree to Photoshop Plug-in folder tree.   I still install Plug-in that way however I have to add the link manually for adobe removed that option from its Preferences UI in Photoshop CC.  I always have more the one versions of Photoshop and all installed versions use the same Plug-in, Actions and Scripts that I add to Photoshop.   There is One exception.  The Way the Image Processor Pro plug-in script is coded expects it and it default XML file to be installed into Adobe's folder so I made and exception for it.   You user ID need to have permission to modify and add files to system folders if you want to install plug-ins into the folders that Adobe created for third party plug-ins to be installed into.
Adobe Photoshop CC installer creates a folder in  Photoshop version   ...\Plug-ins\... so on my Window 7 64 bit system there are two folders
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\" and
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC\Plug-ins\"
All I add to these are the Adobe ScriptListener.8li Plug-in and a link to my  Plug-ins folder.

  • How to access the third party plugin

i am new to javascript and InDesign.now my work is to access the Third Party plugin styles, the third Pary plugin is all about InMath.
is it possible to access third party plugin through java prgramming.
    plz help me.....
    by
    subha

Hello, I'm not a very accomplished JavaScripter, but have found that you can access some InMath at least in CS3. I only needed to be able to refresh the InMath styles from a script.
    If you run this script...
    app.menuActions.everyItem().name;
it will return the names of all the available menu actions. The list is quite long, but it includes some of the InMath actions. At least the ones you can assign keyboard shortcuts to. In my case, I needed to refresh the InMath styles from a script. So I found the name of the InMath menu action that was returned from the above script (Refresh All InMath Expressions) and was able to make a script that refreshed the styles like this.
    app.menuActions.itemByName("Refresh All InMath Expressions").invoke();
However, I'm trying to figure out how to do this in CS2 because my client is still using CS2 and can't find the CS2 version of menuActions.
I think I read your other post about the find/change fillColor bug. I was stuck in the same place and now have it working thanks to the posted help. I was working on a script that would fix fractions based on their colors.
    Hope this helps.

  • How ou where install third party vst plug

    Hello,
does somebody know how or where install third parti vst plug ins?
    thank you

    Dan,
Did you read my post above yours?
Logic Pro X does not use VST plugins.. It only uses 64bit Audiounit (AU) plugins..
    and....
To install most plugins you simply use the installer that came with the plugin... or follow the instructions that came with the plugin..
    Cheers..

  • How do I Install And Use Plugins

I have a plugin I had made for acrobat 9.4. Recently I upgraded my Acrobat to 10.5. Docs that i have read say the plugin should work in 10.5. I dropped the plugin   here    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\plug_ins.   but It does not appear in any of the tools
Can any one tell me if a plugin from 9.4 will work in 10.5  and how do I install it and where does it show up?
    Thanks for the help

The Advanced menu item was removed by Adobe in Acrobat X. Don't know what a plug-in would do. It probably needs an update.
It's very optimistic to think a plug-in written for one version of Acrobat will run without issues in a future version. The issues aren't usually big, but there's more often something than not.

In the [[Options window - Privacy panel|Privacy panel]], make sure ''Keep until'' is not set to "''Ask me every time''"

  • How do I install or enable plugins? I can't find this anywhere in your support pages!

Your support pages explain how to detect and uninstall plugins, but I can't find how to add or enable new plugins. I want to add Flash Player 10 as a plugin - is this possible?
I have tried to follow the instructions on the Mozilla Support page, but the Adobe Flash linked page does not match the process described in the support instructions (it doesn't tell me if Flash is installed on my PC and there is no 'missing plugin' option to select.
I have installed and uninstalled Flash 10 8 times but each time I install Flash 10 it does not appear in the Add-ons/Plugins dialogue box. It is very frustrating and I can't find any way round this problem. Any assistance would be much appreciated!

  • FAQ: How do I install my favorite plugins to Photoshop CS6?

Photoshop has gone through considerable changes through the years and some older plug-ins are no longer compatible with Photoshop CS6.
    Plug-in Compatibility
    In general:
3rd Party plug-ins that are compatible in Photoshop CS5 should be compatible in Photoshop CS6
Adobe provided plug-ins, and additional plug-ins, for CS5 are not compatible in Photoshop CS6Photoshop CS5 Optional Plug-Ins (Mac/Win)
    TWAIN plug-in | Photoshop CS4, CS5
    OpenEXR Alpha plug-in | Photoshop CS5 Extended
    Installing plug-ins in Photoshop CS6
    Do:
Check the plug-in manufacturer's website for the latest version of your plug-in
Use the manufacturer's plug-in installer to install their plug-ins
    Don't:
Do not point Photoshop CS6's "Additional Plug-ins" preference (Preferences>Plug-Ins...) at a previous version of Photoshop's 'Plug-Ins' folder.
Do not manually drag plug-ins from a previous version of Photoshop's plug-ins folder to Photoshop CS6's 'Plug-Ins' folder

You can also get plug-ins for Photoshop CS6 with the Adobe Exchange Panel which alongside Extension Manager will help install them. Find all the products here:
