How do I install the Calendar Server for UNIX?

In order to install the Netscape Calendar Server for UNIX, please
follow these exact instructions:
o Login as "root".
o Create the group "dxoffice"
o Create the user "unison".
- Please make sure this user has a UID less than 60000.
- Please make it's primary group "dxoffice".
o Edit the /etc/services file and add the entries:
unieng 5730/tcp # Cal Server DB Daemon
unisnc 5731/tcp # Cal Server Real-Time Daemon
o Untar the calendar archive. It should install extract itself to
/users/unison/.
o Change directories to /users/unison/bin.
o Run ncsconfig.
After answering the questions to configure your server you can start
your server by running the command: "unistart".

I downloaded the update, which is a .bin file, but I do not have a CD burner nor access to a Windows machine. How can I install the firmware update?

Simple, with your wired computer (never wireless) just access the GUI in the router and perform the firmware update. Just point to the .bin file and away you go. Make sure to hard reset the router and reconfigure it after you are done.

The standard build of Firefox for Linux definitely has an Advanced panel in the Preferences dialog, here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences > Advanced > Certificates mini-tab
But... some builds may be different.

The error suggests that the oracle gwdb database was incorrectly created with the wrong username and password for the database. The installation expects the gwdb database to be created with the username of "gwdbuser" and password of "gwdbpass". I would check the login credentials for this database. Also the installation expects the musicdb database to be created with the username of "musicdbuser" and password "musicdbpass". You may want to check this as well.

How can I enlarge the calendar section for full-time events?

Hi folks,
since the update to ios 5 the calendar section at the top of the daily view (with full-time events) is limited in size. If I enter more than two messages I have to scroll to see all events. This is annoying since I typically miss the birthdays I cannot see.
How can I change the behaviour to the "old" style: show me all full-time events and hide the bar that separates the full-tim events?

I had the exact same problem updating the drivers for my Audigy 2 Platinum EX, but I think I managed to solve the problem. This was quite awhile ago, but I think I remember how I got it to work.
First of all, which update did you download? The "Digital Rights Management" driver update was the one giving me that problem, and this was after installing the main drivers and programs from my Audigy 2 CD. But, I think the reason why it gives this message is because you need to install one of the other driver updates first, then install this DRM update. Look under the driver details and it says the following:
"<EM>Requirements</EM>:
Microsoft? Windows? XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 </LI>
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 ZS series internal audio device </LI>
<EM>EAX 4.0 ADVANCED HD Driver Patch Update for Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS (released on 29 March, 2004) installed, or Sound Blaster Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 ZS Driver Update (released on 29 July, 2004) installed</EM>."</LI>
Strangely enough, it appears this update requires you install an older driver update first (EAX4DRV_AUDIGY2__84_50.exe) then afterwards try running the Digital Rights Management update.
I think this is right, but I'm not 00% sure.

How do I install the International Components for Unicode (ICU) libraries?

I am trying to build a program with requires the ICU libraries and it's unclear to me how to install them.
The only ICU-related fink package I can see is libicu32-dev. I installed that but then afterwards when I run icu-config I get an error. For example:
$ icu-config --cppflags
### icu-config: Can't find /usr/lib/libicuuc.dylib - ICU prefix is wrong.
### Try the --prefix= or --exec-prefix= options
### or --detect-prefix
### icu-config: Exitting.
The fink description for libicu32-dev says it contains "Headers for Apple-supplied ICU libraries". So should these libraries already be on my OS X machine, or do I need to get them from somewhere else?

Sounds like a fink bug to me. The package assumes you only need the headers and that the libraries are already installed - but they are not. You haven't lost them - I checked my machine for the library it looks for. Maybe the fink package should be specific to another version of OS X? Or something else went wrong?
I'd try asking the fink people about it as it looks like a port problem.

Hello, this is Esran. I recently downloaded the Jikes compiler(version 1.19) and I'm having problems integrating it into JCreatorV3 LE.
Here are the instructions given in the help menu:
1. First download and install the Jikes package. (only ~850kb)
2. Click Project > Project Properties.
3. On the JDK Tools tab of the Project Properties dialog box, make a copy of the default compiler.
4. Change the command line to the path of Jikes.exe.
5. Add the parameter option -E.
6. Close the Tool Configuration dialog box and enable the Jikes checkbox.
7. Compile your project by pressing F7.
Important: Make sure the project path doesn't contain spaces; otherwise, you get compiler errors.
I got confused on step 5. it says to add the parameter option -E, but where do I add it?
This is what is already typed under parameters:
-classpath "$[ClassPath]" -d "$[OutputPath]" $[JavaFiles]
Now where do I insert that -E?

Where do you put the -E parameter? If this thing you're talking about works like most other command-line applications, it would be after the name of the program. Like this:
yada/yada/yada/jikes.exe -E -classpath ...
Or you could try putting it at the end. Usually it doesn't matter. The test is whether your thing works after you do it (did you do that test yet?)

When you go into iCloud there is an option to delete the account. The help desk advised me that using this option only deletes it on the phone and not the actual Apple ID. If you delete it you are given an option to keep content associated with this ID on the phone, which may be a good idea unless you want to completely refresh your phone.
Once you delete the account, you can then enter a new Apple ID.
I've just done it and it worked fine, leaving the original Apple ID intact and working on another phone.

I know this has been covered elsewhere, but frankly I can't find it and I want it to be in a highly visible place, perhaps a permanent thread. Would someone please supply the link(s) relevent to doing this for those of us who cannot yet boot to an OS because ALL of our mass media and optical devices are on the IDE chain that needs the drivers?
