  • How can I install the Flash Debug Player in Internet Explorer 10?

    I just downloaded the Flash Debug Player 11.4.402.287 from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/11/flashplayer_11_ax_debug.exe - however, trying to install it merely shows a message box saying
    The installation encountered errors: Your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser includes the latest version of the Adobe Flash Player built-in. Windows Update will inform you when new versions of the Flash Player are available.
    I'm using Internet Explorer 10.0.9200.16384 on Windows 8. A bit of Google research suggested that IE10 has a Flash player built-in (similiar to what Google Chrome has) so I looked for a way to disable the player. It seems that this is indeed possible by clicking the Cogwheel icon in the IE10 toolbar and then selecting 'Manage Add-ons'. The dialog which shows up shows a 'Shockwave Flash Object' entry. However, even with the built-in Flash player disabled, the Flash Debug Player installer keeps giving the same message.
    Does anybody knwo how I can install the Flash Debug Player in IE10?

    I do not know, but check if there is anything useful in http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/flashplayer/pdfs/flas h_player_windows8_admin_guide.pdf

  • How can I make the Windows Media player the default player for my browser.

    I cannot listen to radio station WYSL 1040 AM on the web. They say that the default player on my browser must be the Windows Media player. How do I comply with their demand?

    In Firefox it is the MIME type that determines which player is selected.
    Install the new WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll), you only have the classic WMP plugin (Npdsplay dll)

  • How do i change the default media player on iOS 6?

    i'd like to have my Ipod Touch set up in such a way that when i plug it into one of those dock systems, another app (not the music player) gets started -- in this case I want it to be TuneIn Radio.
    How do I do this?
    Right now, if I just plug it in, the stock Music player starts. If I then switch to TuneIn Radio, then the Music player stops and TuneIn takes over. If I press stop on the dock and then press play, the Music player starts. I'd like for TuneIn Radio to start the first time and the second time.
    Please help.
    Not sure if it makes a difference but today I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen with iOS 6.0.1.

    I appreciate it lllaass.
    I just want to confirm:
    1) there is no way to set any other app -- other than the builtin Music app -- to be the one that starts by default when a dock user plresses play.
    2) when another media-playing app is in the foreground, just played and is paused while in dock, when the play button is pressed on any dock, the app that will respond is still the builtin Music app? Even if the dock paused it?
    The former may make sense but the latter does not at all. If a generic dock is able to pause Tunein Radio, why is it not able to resume it.

  • How does one use JavaScript with the Windows Media Player Plugin?

    Hi there.
    According to this old [http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd564570%28v=VS.85%29.aspx MSDN Article] it is possible to control the windows media player plugin using javascript.
    It provides a series of objects off the object that should perform certain funtions, such as play stop and seek.
    It states very clearly in the article that some are not supported; however, none of them seem to be working with the latest version(s?) of Firefox.
    I have Firefox 5 installed currently and have not tested in any other version, so I'm not sure when it stopped working.
    The video does load and will display properly -- the ability to control it through javascript however, does not work.
    i.e.:
    var mplay = document.getElementById('myplayer');
    mplay.controls.play(); // mplay.controls is undefined
    This same code works in Internet Explorer.

    You need to place the URL in a data attribute for Firefox.
    <pre><nowiki>document.write(' <OBJECT id="Player" data="http://87.117.197.189:16229" width="320" height="45" type="application/x-ms-wmp">');
    document.write(' <param name="AudioStream" value="true">');
    document.write(' <param name="Enabled" value="True">');
    document.write(' <param name="ClickToPlay" value="false">');
    document.write(' <param name="BufferingTime" value="5">');
    document.write(' <param name="ShowDisplay" value="False">');
    document.write(' <param name="Volume" value="70">');
    document.write(' <param name="autoStart" value="true">');
    document.write(' </OBJECT>');</nowiki></pre>

  • How do I get the Adobe Flash Player 10 to Work (Windows XP SP3)?

    I am a Premiere Elements user who occasionally exports the Timeline to Adobe Flash Video (.flv). And, occasionally I convert the .flv export to .swf with a free .flv to .swf converter. An installed Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 successfully plays back the .swf, and an installed Adobe Media Player 1.7 successfully plays back the .flv.
    Right or wrong I got the idea that the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 was really a very old version of what is now the Adobe Flash Player. So, I decided it was time to update the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 to Adobe Flash Player 10. At this point, I have the following installed on my Windows XP SP3 computer via Adobe downloads:
    Adobe Flash player 10 Active X
    Adobe Flash player 10
    Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5
    The Adobe web site verification tells me that as well as the computer Control Panel Add/Remove program list.
    But, no matter what I do, .flv insists on opening only with the Adobe Media Player 1.7 and the .swf only with the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0.
    I have tried
    a. browsing to another Open With choice
    b. changing file association in folder options as well as a few uninstalls/reinstalls and have been unsuccessful in these attempts. At one point I thought that maybe uninstalling the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 would be an approach, but I cannot find it to uninstall it. I have looked in Program Files, Documents and Settings/Application Data, Local Drive/Windows/System32, tried the computer Search...all with no luck. My browsers are Internet Explorer 6 and Firefox 2.0.0.20. The default browser is Firefox and all the appropriate "allows" are in place.
    If anyone could point out the errors of my ways, I would appreciate it.
    ATR

    I have resolved the issues presented without having to find and uninstall the Macromedia Flash Player 8.0 in order to get "Adobe Flash Player 10" playback of .swf files on my computer. When I begin this task, I expected to download an "Adobe Flash Player 10" as a player program download instead of the Internet Explorer and Firefox plugin that it appears to be.
    This is what I did and what I believe I have:
    1. I setup Internet Explorer 6 as my default browser and then used the following site to download Adobe Flash Player 10
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
    2. As I had done before (and also suggested in another thread here), I went to Tools/Manage Add Ons and found Shockwave Flash Object, highlighted it, and clicked on Update Active X. Next, what I did not do before, I restarted the computer immediately after that.
    3. Next, I set Mozilla Firefox as my default browser and then used the above site to download Adobe Flash Player 10 again.
    4. With Firefox, the critical step included Firefox Tools/Options/Content with File Types (Configure how Firefox handles certain types of files) and the Manage Tab there. SWF Shockware Flash Object/Change Action/and dotting "use this plugin" - Shockwave Flash, followed by a computer restart got the job done.
    Now, if I want playback of a .swf file, I can
    a. Open With Internet Explorer (assumed with the Adobe Flash 10 "plugin")
    b. Open With Mozilla Firefox (assumed with the Adobe Flash 10 "plugin")
    c. Open With Macromedia Flash Player 8.0
    I am satisfied with those results for my use. Any additional comments on the player vs plugin aspect of the matter would be interesting and helpful.

  • Keeping Quicktime from being the default media player

    My son has iTunes/Quicktime installed on this computer, but I do not want Quicktime to be the default media player. How do I keep it from being the default media player.

    Try just right-clicking on the link to the downloaded file. In most browsers you'll get some variant of a command to download the file to your computer. That would bypass the QuickTime browser plugin.
    Hope this helps.

  • Satellite Pro M70-273: Functionality of the Express Media Player feature

    I bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro M70-273 "Limited Edition" (?) two weeks ago. The model number is PSM76E-00J00QDU, model name SPM76, production date 2006-02-21. According to the specifications I found in the online user's manual or in a folder with publication references
    "TEG October 2005, Art. N0. DSSSPM70 10/05NLBE", there is an "Express Media Feature" "on some selected models" ...
    It is not clear if yes or no, the model I bought has it. I have a "CD/DVD Button" that I use to launch my built-in dvd player (e.g. WinDVD), but this does not work as specified as "a standalone disc drive" that plays a dvd (film) without needing to startup Windows.
    To watch the dvd film, after using the CD/DVD button, I have to boot into Windows, login into Windows XP and when the desktop is started, the WinDVD screen will show the film.
    This is not what I'm expecting from a standalone dvd player. My old notebook has a "dj function" with which one can play a cd without booting into Windows, (or powering up the notebook), just by pressing a special key on the front . How about the promised feature of the Toshiba Satellite Pro?
    Is there an "Express Media Player" functionality at all? How can I check if the feature is provided? I used the setup provided, the first time I used my notebook. I don't wish to use the recovery cd rom provided unless it might be absolutely indispensable to install this missing feature.

    John
    With the laptop you should have received a restore/recovery disc. This contains utilities to either replace individual drivers and tools, plus a complete 'image' of the base build that your laptop has when it is built at the factory
    Although I have never used this, it is supposed to completely wipe all data and setings from ythe laptop by first formatting the hard drive then reinstalling the operating system and applications back to factory settings. From comments elsewhere on this forum one of the few options you can have when you do this is to choose to partition the hard drive into 2 sections, one for the Express Media player, the other for the operating system etc. (as the Express Media operates without booting into the operating system).
    The process is designed to be user friendly as it guides you through it, but as I said it does wipe EVERYTHING you have on the laptop currently, which is why I never bothered after I realised it wasn't installed. By the sounds of it though it won't be too much hassle for you to do that as you have data/settings you can easily transfer afterwards (Win XP has a tool to help with this)
    The Gigastore hub I have found very good, and likewise the Gigastore hard drive, although others have posted here about their laptops not 'seeing' the hard drive in certain conditions
    If you want anything further I check here fairly regularly, or you can mail me - [email protected]
