How do I install VB6 on Windows 7?

I am trying to install VB6 (actually, visual Studio 6) on Win7.
In the very early steps of setup, I am stuck to "Need to install Microsoft Java Virtual Machine".
If I uncheck the JVM box, I am not allowed to continue.
If i check it, I am told that JVM is unsupported for Win7, the PC is rebooted (why?), and on restart i am to the same JVM required spot.
I need to perform some maintenance on some old project, just too big to be ported to .NET (if the only thing I can do is to port them, I'd rather port to Delphy or C++ codegear: I am not so crazy to do the same mistake twice, and use the new M$ junk to replace the old M$ junk).
I have payed good money for the licence of Visual Studio 6, for a PERPETUAL licence. I DEMAND M$ let me use it.
Thanks.

I have a Visual Studio 6 Enterprise edition installed on Windows 7 Ultimate and it is working perfectly.
There is no need to bother with all the Virtual XP stuff.
The thing to remember is that Windows 7 is all about permissions.
Always run installer.exes (setup.exe) by right clicking them and choosing "Run as Administrator" from the context menu or else the installation program will be prevented from making registry changes in Windows 7.
The service packs for Visual Studio 6 can still be downloaded from the Microsoft site.
The service packs are cumulative. That means later packs contain all the updates contained in all previous service packs.
If you download and install service pack 6 you will not get the message box to install a moldy version of JM.
Remember to install the service pack by right clicking on the setup.exe and choosing "Run as Administrator".
That is where most people screw up. Each and ever installation has to be run in Administrator mode or the Visual Studio 6 installation will not be successful because Windows 7 will not allow the installer program access to its registry to make necessary
changes.

  • How do I install Bootcamp on Windows 7.

I have just installed Windows 7 on my Mac Mini and now I want to switch back to the Mac OS. When I hold down Alt while booting up to change OS nothing happens.
The other option is to install Bootcamp to work with windows. It's already on my mac as I used it to install Windows 7. But there is no option to switch OS with Bootcamp as I can't find it on Windows 7. I've seen tutorials on how to install it with a disk but the Mac mini has no optical drive.
How do I install Bootcamp on Windows??

At first I was under the impression i had accidentily deleted the MAC OS but thankfully I haven't. I did a system restore on Windows and when it restarted I held Alt and I could select my OS.
But I still don't have the shortcut to bootcamp showing in windows. How do you make a bootable USB for Bootcamp?

  • How do I install itunes with Windows 7?

how do I install itunes with Windows 7?  I always get a Windows Installer error or administrator error __

Have tried: download but do not install iTunes, then turn off virus protection and firewall, restart computer, login as admin, then run the iTunes insallation.  After it installs, restart virus protection and firewall and logout and back in as standard user.
Windows leaves installers running or still resident which conflict with the iTunes installer.

  • How do i install indesign with windows 8 on a pc

how do i unstal indesign with windows 8 on a pc?

Visit this page please: http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/buying-guide.html and then on the right hand panel of the page you will find InDesign Annual plan to Join Adobe Creative Cloud to leverage the most updated features of InDesign CC. When you've purchased it, you'll be able to download the software through Adobe Download Assistant as a electronic download that you can save to your desktop or any other location. You can then doubleclick the installer executable to proceed with installation and activation later on as the installation completes. If you're having another version of InDesign (older version ) then please let me know if you already downloaded the installer and then waiting to install it on your Windows 8 PC.

  • How do I install Firefox with Windows 7?

I have Windows 7 and after I downloaded Firefox to my computer and tried to install it a message pops up asking me to log in as administrator or my user name. Since I am the administrator and never set up a password, I try to log in with my user name. Logging in with my user name and password won't work, so I try with the administrator and since I don't know the password, of course that fails also.

  • How do I install bootcamp drivers windows 8 (mainly trackpad)

I installed windows 8 conumer preview using bootcamp.  I download the drivers to my flash drive, but when i try to install them it says I need a computer running windows 7.  I tried running in compatibility mode the way many people say to for installing on windows 8 but that did not work.  I also tried to install all the drivers i needed indevidually and that worked, but there is one problem.  I can only left click on the trackpad and I connot two finger scroll.
If anybody could help me either get the drivers to fully install or simply get right click and scrolling to work it would be awsome!
If it makes a difference i am running snow lepered on my mac partition om my macbook pro 15 inch 8,2 from mid 2011 (the first quad core one).

When you are on Lion, yes and if you have any 2011 model, definitely. mid-2011 was about where Lion was about to come out. And the old drivers just do not do a good job on those systems.
I'd even buy Lion and just put it on an external drive. If you want then use Setup Assistant to make it currrent with your settings, and clone it back to where SL was (might want to clone SL if you need it though and don't need or can't use Lion for some reason).
Someone else was unable to see Troubleshoot via control-click and I took a screen shot to show that "64.mi" does normally have options for how to run from Properties while theirs lacked that. Which seems to me like an issue with Windows installed on their system and not elsewhere.
You did a clean install of 8-CP too?

  • How to dual install Vista and Windows 7?

    Hi,
I have a question about setting up windows 7. But Im trying a slightly different approach. I have a drive on my Mac Pro that has Windows Vista on it. But I would like to put Windows 7 on it too. I dont know if i have to partition the drive to do this or can i just install it along side Vista? Thing is before i installed Vista I used disk utilities to partition the drive to 2 equal partitions but when I went on it to put Vista on it somehow Vista took the whole drive. So i have Vista on there and all set up but now I'd like to add Windows 7 without destroying Vista...How can I do that? Do i have to use the Mac OS and partition it and install or is this something I should do from the Vista side?

None. You have everything you need.
    Windows 7 DVD
    Vista
And if you want another Paragon CampTune for resizing partitions.
For backup, Vista, no need to buy Paragon or Acronis. WinClone is free and handy too.
Trouble with Macs, or any computer, there are always different ways to get to same place.
Backup, and then try, that is all anyone can do. I had Vista SP1 for work, Vista SP2 beta for testing, and Windows 7 beta to give it a shot, and I like W7 better.

  • How do I install and BOOT Windows 7 on External Hard Drive?

Please please please help! I've been browsing the net for 2 days straight and can't find a decent answer.
I've partitioned my external hard drive (Western Digital Passport) using Disk Utility.
I have 4 paritions in total; 2 intended for Mac and 2 intended for Windows.
I used a GUID partition table for all 4 as displayed on the below picture.
Although I should note that when my external hard disk is booted in Windows it says that it uses Master Boot Record, please see picture 2 below.
I formatted the Mac Partitions to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and the Windows Partitions to ExFat.
The Macs work beautifully; having successfully installed and booted Snow Leopard on them, and then backed up my 2 internal Mac Drives to them.
However, the Windows ones are a complete nightmare and I have no idea how to installl Windows 7 and then use them from there.
Can anyone offer a solution? I've heard so many conflicting ideas about this that it's made me dizzy just reading it all.
    Thanks!

Yeah, I use Windows on bootcamp for both my Imac and my Macbook Pro.
In fact, seeing as my Mac partition on my external hard drive was successful i.e. I installed and can boot from them any time I like, couldn't I just use the external hard drive's partitions' bootcamp assistant and install/boot windows on there?

  • How do I install iCloud for Windows 7 using icloudsetup_exe Apple download that won't execute?

When I download the iCloud for PC application, Apple provides a non-editable file name icloudsetup_exe instead of a normal windows executable name such as icloudsetup.exe, so after double clicking on the setup file, Windows then asks what application to open this file with, instead of executing the setup file.  Has anyone figured out how to make this work?
