How do I 'invert drawbars' in control surfaces?? Korg NanoKontrol & VB3

I've set up my Korg nanokontrol with VB3 organ, and all is OK apart from the drawbars are inverted. (When I pull the fader down the drawbar decreases in volume rather than the other way around). Is there something to select to 'Flip' this action.
There is actually a setting on VB3 but it's not changing in Logic.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hey Scrooge, why the attitude? Did anyone here mistreat you? And why hijack the thread?
Anyway, if you loose settings minutes after they worked, I would say the hardware may be shaky. Or the cabling. Or the operators' skills.
Ambient8 has gracefully and concisely pointed the way, and if something is not working just describe what and how it is, instead of complaining (on somebody else's thread) to people who voluntarily try to offer help & solutions.
Ambient8:
+"Pay special attention to "Assigning Key Commands to Control Surfaces" on page >164+
+The rest need to be set up as a control surface by using the Learn (Command+L) function to assign faders to tracks and knobs to pans, etc.+
+See the Logic Pro 8 Control Surfaces Support guide in the Help menu for info on controller assignments. Chapter 2 "Customizing Controller Assignments" has the info assigning controllers to Logic Pro parameters."+
If you say I did exactly as described on these pages, and all your settings seemed to disappear, I can only assume that either something is wrong with your Logic prefs, the logic.cs file or the CS itself.
Regards, Erik.

  • Random sound generated from external midi device even without a song opened... How to uninstall external control surfaces?

    Recently bought systems used :
         Roland FA-08 workstation
Mixingtable with USB connection Yamaha MG12XU
Mac Os X 10.9.4 Maverick with Logic Pro X 10.0.7
for each system the latest usb-drivers are installed
    Problem :
I get random noises generated (non-stop) from the connected synthesizer FA08 starting up Logic, even without a song opened.
(My midi local is switched of, that's not the solution)
The problem started (i think) installing the Mackie control for the DAW use as was suggested by the Roland manual
in Logic Pro X > Control Surfaces > setup...
Other than my remote control i now have Mackie controllers that i can not remove from the setup. Right click says 'delete' but
they are not deleted, the program even crashed once. Reinstalling Logic does not remove them either.
I read somewhere that there should be a 'controller rebuild'-command but that doesn't seem to exist.
And i have no idea why in the 'inspector', the host of the Mackie Control seems to be my I-pad (?)
I suspect that te problem is either some midi/usb driver conflict when used with Mavericks
or te use of the mackie controller conflicting with
the audio-bord of the yamaha mixing console MG 12XU (which seems to be working fine) or with the DAW controller of the FA 08
Audio/Midi setup of my computer seems to be installed correctly.
How can i uninstall this controller settings ?
Anyone has an idea why i get random noise generated?
Anyhow, it is impossible working with Logic this way..
    Please help..

In case you need to get back the default Logic control surface setup you can delete the Control Surface preference file and the default file will be rebuilt. It's a good way to get back to Logic's initial control surface setting. Also, if you had chosen to edit the Logic Remote CS entry instead of remove it there are adjustments that can be made, like disabling Active Sensing, or even disabling "Flash Mute and Solo Buttons" on the basic Control Surface Preferences pane.
Deleting the Logic 10 Control Surface Prefs.
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences  in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
Note: to get to the User-Library the tilde ~ has to be included.        ~/Library/Preferences

  • How can I manually enter MIDI channel number in Control Surface expert Value Change field?

I am creating a software interface for a multidimensional controller which can transmit many linear values at the same time. I can not use Learn mode because it always sends data from all sources, but I can split them by MIDI channels. I would like to manually enter controlling values into Control Surface expert view.
I seem to be able only to input the message, but not MIDI channel on which it is transmitted.

  • Logic Pro X - how to uninstall a control surface please.

    Hello.
I currently have various MIDI controllers connected to my Logic Pro X system. (See the screenshot.)
The top four are redundant- in fact, the two HUI ones seemed to install themselves when I was trying to install the Mackie one.
My problem is: I am now only using the bottom one, the iControl, and would like to remove the others. I have tried deleting them in the Control Surface Setup window shown above, but that does not work.
Other discussions on this topic talk about deleting a plist file called com.apple.logic.pro.plist or similar, which is supposed to reside in the Preferences folder in the Library. I have searched all over my Mac's hard drive for this, but cannot find it.
Can anyone help please? This problem is not affecting the way that Logic works, but it just means that there are three controller bars in my project and mixer windows, which is a bit annoying, as it's difficult to pick out the one that I'm actually using. Any advice would be gratefully received- thanks!
    Mark.

Thanks- I really appreciate your help on this.
My Preferences folder is at Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences. If I do as you say, this happens:
If I manually follow that path, I see these items on the Preferences folder (I have arranged them in alphabetical order and cropped the screenshot to show where the Logic file should be:)
    I don't see it here.
I think that I'm fairly computer-literate, but if I'm doing something really stupid here, I won't be offended if you tell me!
    Thanks and best regards,
    Mark.

  • Which control surface do you use, would like to use or have used for audio?

I am shopping control surfaces for mixing audio in Premiere Pro CC. I am buying used so I would sure like to get it right the first time. I am looking for feedback from those who have used a control surface as well as those who have just looked around. I have searched high and low for information from Premiere Pro users but have found very little. Even the Audition folks have not shared much information about experiences with audio control surfaces.
Here are some consoles I've looked at but cannot determine compatibility (due to lack of information):
Mackie Control Universal MCU Pro 8
    Digidesign Command 8
Digidesign Digi 002 Pro Tools Console
    M-Audio ProjectMix I/O Control Surface
Icon QCon Pro USB Midi Controller Station
    Behringer B-Control Fader BCF2000
Radikal Technologies SAC 2.2 DAW controller
Avid Artist Mix Control 8 Fader Euphonix DAW Mixing Control Surface
    Tascam FW-1884 Firewire Control Surface
    Tascam FW-1082 Firewire Control Surface
    CM Labs Motormix
    CM Labs Motormix 2
    CM Labs MotorMate
Novation ZeRO SL MkII MIDI DAW Control Surface
Nektar Panorama P1 USB Midi DAW Control Surface
    Alesis Master Control
If you have experience with any of these consoles, or have any to add to the list, specifically with Premiere Pro, please leave a note here. I believe there will be others who will check this discussion looking for the same answers as I. Documentation of these control surfaces is very thin when it coms to discovering if they are MCU or EUCON protocol (or other) - and even if I was able to discern a flavor I still do not know which features will work in Premiere, such as transport controls, faders, plug-in modifiers, et al.
So I guess my goal here is to come up with a list of work/don't work features for each of these control surfaces and more so we can make informed bang for the buck decisions. My budget for a used control surface is $300-400, but I'd be willing to go to $500-600 or more if the features/integration were significantly better.
    Thanks!

Here is the list with the responses I have received from the manufacturers, (3) so far.
Mackie Control Universal MCU Pro 8
The MCU Pro uses three different types of MIDI operating protocols (Mackie Control, HUI, and Logic Control). We have not tested the MCU Pro here in Tech Support with Premiere Pro. You will want to contact Adobe directly to see if they support the Mackie Control, HUI or Logic Control protocols with the Premiere Pro software. It is up to the manufacture of the software on how well these MIDI operating protocols are implemented into the software.  With contacting Adobe directly you will be able to see what control surfaces are supported with their software.
    Digidesign Command 8
Digidesign Digi 002 Pro Tools Console
    M-Audio ProjectMix I/O Control Surface
The Project Mix I/O is a discontinued product.  However, it should work properly with basically any DAW program.  I can't speak to specifically Premiere Pro, but we have a few customers who use that combination and those customers report it works just fine.
Icon QCon Pro USB Midi Controller Station
    Behringer B-Control Fader BCF2000
Thank you for your email! Yes, you are able to use the BCF2000 to control Adobe Pro CC. YOu will need to program the controller into Mackie Emulation mode. Mackie Emulation will allow full functionality within your software. Attached you will find a PDF showing each emulation mode. Here are a few informative links explaining setup and application:

  • How to change the size of control´s prompt?

No matter the size of data to be displayed in the view suface prompt, the controls have the same size.
Does anyone here know how to change the size of control in surface prompt?

    HI,
In order to change the size of a radio button... one way you may consider is to Customise the Radio Button.
Place a Radio Button (RB) on the FP of a VI, Right-Click the RB > Advanced > Customise...
Click the Mode Button (most Left button) for Edit Mode
Right-click the radio button (the round image) now, you will see a list of actions i.e. Copy to clipboard, import picture ...You will see Four images under the 'Picture Item', those are the images that you will need to replace.
Prepare Four Images of the similar but larger expected size
*** Copy the 1st new image to clipboard. Back to the Picture Item and select 1st image. Then, select Import Picture (to replace the existing image)
Repeat *** for all four images.
Once done, change the mode back to original. Save the *.ctl
You are now ready to use the customised radio button!
Quick sample attached (sorry for the poor images created )

  • Getting my control surface to work properly

I have a usb kebyboard, alesis photon 25. when i plug it in with audition running it says midi channel one is being triggered at the bottom when i press a key on the keyboard so i know it is picking up a signal. i have enabled everything that i can think of via the sequencer window and i just cant get the keyboard to trigger the vsti, please any suggestions would be much appreciated. thanks

To see how to handle Control Surface have a look at this:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/ControlSurfacesSupport.pdf
You can find it in Logic Documents folder too (it's on installation disk).
The problem is if the system recognizes the BR in MIDI Audio Setup or if some drivers are needed.

  • New iPad control surface working well

I am not affiliated with this company.
This app just launched and it is working incredibly well with Premiere so far.  Not only does it have a control surface with soft buttons for editing and playback, but it will do gestures (mark in with a 1 finger swipe, insert with 3 finger swipe, etc..)
Just thought it would be of note to the Pr community for those who are looking for an interesting way to interact with Premiere beyond mouse and keyboard.

  • Similar Post... Still Unanswered (Control Surfaces)

    I thought I'd try again...
How can I get my control surfaces to modify software synth parameters inside logic?  Is there a way to route the controller to a software synth for tweaking synth sounds (I find the mouse very annoying for this especially live tweaking while recording)?
    Thanks!

Thanks!  Like I said before I'm going to give it a go a little later w/ the Akai documentation I have for use with Logic Pro.  I know it works with my MPD32 Controller and MOTU's BPM 1.5...  I'll give it another go and see where it lands me...
I do have a Novation ZeRO SL MkII Controller which would be perfect for tweaking sounds but I've had very little luck using it...  I sometimes regret the purchase.  If it worked as well as it was supposed to it would be almost magical but it crashes constantly both the AutoMap 3.7 software it comes with as well as Logic Pro 9.  Some I'm a little nervous about using it with any projects.

  • Can i control surface logic 9 with digi 002 mixer? on snow leopard 10.6.8

Hi I'm trying to connect my digi002 mixer to use it as a control surface with logic 9, is there anyway of doing this?
I have an RME Hammerfall DSP Multiface II, that I'm using as my main sound card, but would like to light it with the 002 and use the 002 converters as well, so that in total i get 16 channels I/O + if I could get control surface of logic with the 002 would be great.....
I heard about the Multi-Client CoreAudio Driver, but not 100% sure if and how it works to control surface logic with 002.
    Anyone???
    Help please....
    Thx...

I assume you have working installer discs? If so here's a suggestion:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc.  Insert the disc into the
optical drive and restart the computer.  After the chime press and hold down the
"C" key.  Release the key when you see a small spinning gear appear below the
             dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, set the format type to Mac
OS Extended (Journaled, if supported), then click on the Partition button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.

  • 02R96 and other Yamaha control surfaces - break Learn Assignment?

Can someone throw some light on this:
The 02R96 and other Yamaha control surfaces send out this Active Sensing thing, which is just a real, downright nuisance for all kinds of reasons.
    1) How am I supposed to get plug-in parameter assignments automatically learnt if the 02R96's active sensing keeps jumping in every second? Logic thinks that's the MIDI message I want to assign to my parameter! There doesn't seem to be a way of telling the learn process to ignore what's going on on a certain MIDI port. Result: can't automate my plug-ins. There seems to be no way of doing it.
    2) Another thing about active sensing - you can't get Logic to just shaddup about it if the control surface isn't on. What if I want to keep my 02R96 turned off for some reason? There should be a Disable control surface button or something - anything to prevent having to remove the 02R96 setup entirely from the Logic session! Really not good...any thoughts or insights? (especially on the parameter learning stuff..that's a real show stopper)
    Adrian

The Mackie Control support lets you edit all parameters of instuments and effects plugins. If you don't have a Mackie Control, you can also use John Pitcairn's LCXmu, which acts as a virtual Logic Control translator between your controller and Logic.
I have a Korg microKontrol running with LCXmu, and it's excellent, way better than Logic'a native mK support, and you can access all instrument & plugin parameters, with the names coming up on the mK screens etc.
Have a look at LCXmu at OpusLocus and see whether your hardware is a directly supported device. Even if it isn't, you can still use it, you just have to set up some manual mapping stuff, depending on what buttons etc you have on your controller.
Otherwise, you are back to manually assigning parameters using Logic's controller assignments - but they are buggy.
I have to say that LCXmu has completely solved all controller issues I had using the micoKontrol as a little portable controller. It's ace.

  • About time for Control surface support

I wonder with agony, why Adobe still is being hesitant to support external control units, such as the Tangent Wave and Euphonix MC Color.
I don't know whether its lazyness, inability to make the hardware makers develop a Premiere interface, or ignorace about the need for such a tool.
But I know its highly annoying to have been seduced into using a editing system for years. To become accustomed to every bit and piece. To be able using it in my sleep, and then get hit in my face once I reach a certain professionalism level.
And no I dont wish to swith to Final Cut. I hate anything Apple. (besides its lightyears behind in my oppinion)

    Am I alone?

I appreciate the help. But I don't like to be repeated 3 times what to do.
I wasn't aware that I should report back to you whether I had filed a request or not.
If you care, you would do it to, if you dont.. Why bother asking?
Sorry for my autistic logic, but thats how my brain works.
As for what app would do the job I need.. Yeah I got the answer: Davinci Resolve (for windows) I'll keep dreaming.
In the mean time I'll rant quietly about my premiere not doing what I want it to.
My reason for posting here is simple. If you would like control surface to be supported. Shout out by following the suggested feature request form.
If you couldnt care less. Well..These arent the words you are looking for. Move along. Move along. Peace.
