  • How do I join clips in iMovie, the join clip in the edit menu is never available?

I am desperately trying to edit some footage and I have split the clips and then added the footage I want inbetween the split, however I cannot join them back together as the joinclip in the edit menu is never highlighted, am stuck on what to do now, anyone help please?

The Join Clip command is meant to restore a clip that you split and then decide you want to "undo" the split.
It's really not particularly useful or necessary for editing.
The clips you use in your Project will all be effectively joined together when you export (Share) your finished project.
As you're editing your Project it appears as a bunch of separate clips but the finished project will playback as a seamless whole.

  • How to rotate a clip in imovie

How do I rotate a clip in iMovie?  I have gone to 'Adjust' then 'crop' then clicked on the rotate button but nothing happened.

    Happy to help.
Basically in iMovie 10 (unlike earlier versions) you cannot do any sort of editing on clips in events  (you can't even delete parts you don't want, only the whole clip).  So events are just repositeries for 'raw' clips.

  • How do I move clips from iMovie to a dvd

I would like to make a DVD with clips that I have on iMovie.  How do I do so?  Also, how do I save in a way that it will be viewable on a PC?

Do you have iDVD on your Mac? If you do, you can use iDVD to make a DVD. If you don't have iDVD, please check this for help:https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3711. If you still can't get iDVD installed on your mac, you can try to make a DVD with the third party tool, like this one https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dvd-maker/id599211693?ls=1&mt=12. Would you lile to view the original clips on PC or watch the DVD disc on PC?

  • How do I edit clips in iMovie (or Premiere Elements 10)?

I am new to Mac. Used to have no problem at all editing and converting movies on my PC. Have both iMovie and Adobe Premiere Elements 10 on my new Mac. Even as a borderline PC geek, I can't seem to figure how to clip and edit and merge videos on my Mac. Guessing I will have questions about saving to a new DVD as well when I get that far. Trying to condense dozens of DVDs with old family home movies down to a single DVD by selecting 'best of clips.' Grateful for any assistance.

    Hi Jeni,
I am not familiar with Windows Movie Maker, so I lack any frame of reference (no pun inteneded) to judge what you may be doing wrong. Both iMovie and Premiere Elements (PE) are designed so that the normal work flow is trim the clip the way you want, then put the clip in the timeline of your movie. In either you can work other ways, but the layout and tools in these programs are pretty much geared for that type of workflow. I use both by the way, although I am fairly new to Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and have not used iMovie all that much. In PE for example, you can double click the clip you want to use and that opens the clip viewer. You slide the pointers at the beginning and end of the clip viewer time line to set what are called "in and out points" and drag the clip into your time line or onto the scene line depending on which PE editing mode you are using. When you eventually export the movie using the Share panel, the program exports the entire timeline, which should be the series of trimmed clips, unless you check the box to tell it to only export the marked part of the timeline (I forget the title on the check box and don't have the program running in front of me). But in either case, each clip in your movie or portion of a movie should be trimmed according to the in and out points you previously set.
iMovie works on a similar concept, except you drag your mouse pointer over a clip in an event to adjust the yellow rectangle to mark the part of the clip you want to use, then drag that clip into you project. In either program there are ways of trimming and cropping clips in the timeline/sceneline/project and automatically adjusting the rest to compensate, but in any case, I'm not sure why you would be losing the edits.

  • How to move a clip in iMovie 09

How do I move a clip from one event to another. I figured I could just select it then drag it to the target event, but this doesn't do anything.

  • How to export .MOD  clips as iMovie Project without quality losing?

    Hi,
i have JVC HDD SD Camera (GZ-MG335HE). If i play .MOD Clips directly with VLC i have very good movie quality. I shoot movies in ultra fine quality (Right click on .MOD file shows: Res.720 x 576, kbps 9284, 25 frames per second, Codecs: MPEG-2 Video, AC3). But as soon i import movies, there is drop in quality. I tried to export movies as quick time movie, choosing many formats - dv, avi, .mov, .mpg but there is always to me visible loss of movie quality. iMovie produces good movies, but i would like to have the same quality as on my camera (the movie size doesn´t matter to me- i need 4,7 GB on HDD for 1 hour-that is acceptable for me)
Is it possible to import .MOD movies 1:1 to iMovie and then make project and export the movie without quality losing?
    Thanks

Do you mean import what I have in iMovie 09 into iMovie HD/06 instead? I suppose I could but I wanted to add some of iMovie 09's titles and adjustment effects to my iMovie HD/06 project, so it could get quite complicated trying to piece it all together. I may have to do that as a last resort, but does anyone know any way I can get around this?
I would think there must be some way to save my iMovie 06 file as something other than an iMovie file without losing quality... but things aren't always that easy are they?

  • I don't know how to fuse two clips together

    hi
i would like to make a voice over on a series of clips but i can't do it unless i can fuse them together. is that possible?
to clarify- at the moment i can do the voice over but it can only be done one clip at a time which would make voice over virtually impossible since some of the clips are very short and the voice would continuously be interrupted.
    thank you

There is no way to join clips in iMovie 08 unless they were originally pieces of the same clip.
However, voiceover should be working across multiple clips in your project. Basically, once you click on a starting point and the voiceover begins recording, it shouldn't stop until you stop it or it hits the end of the project. There can be multiple clips between the start and stop points when recording a voiceover.

  • IMovie How do you join video clips that have been split

In Imovie project, How do I join video clips that been split

    Hi
And if the clips are not contiguous - Then You have to do as in all versions of iMovie from the very beginning.
    • Put the clips into one new project
    • Export this as full quality QuickTime movie
    • Import this new merged QT-clip into Your main project
This is a way around that are very basic and used whenever more elaborated scenes are prepared - e.g. multiple text clips or when in need of adding several functions into it.
Tedious - but it always been like this - in contrast to FinalCut.
    Yours Bengt W

  • How do i join multiple clips into a single movie?

I imported various video clips from my device into imovie 09. I have move all my selected parts of all the clips into my project pane. How do I join all these seperate clips in the project pane into one single movie, and then save it as such??

i have used the share menu to save the movie under quicktime. This brings two more questions:
    1. Is there not a way join the clips into one movie and save it with iMovie, rather than having to share it with another application?
    2. If I do share it with quicktime, can i delete the original clips from iMovie, or will that also delete the new movie in quicktime?
