How do I jump to a playing podcast?

In iTunes 10, the display window had a little triangle to the right of the title that was currently playing.  When you're looking through another view, you could click that triangle and jump to that track.  I used that all the time, but now it is missing in iTunes 11.  Now, with songs, there is a little arrow that brings up a drop-down menu in which you can jump to the artist, album, or song.  This doesn't work when playing a podcast.
If I'm playing a podcast and looking through my library, how can I jump back to that podcast.  Currently, it looks like I have to navigate through my podcasts to find the one that is playing.  When you select the podcast window, it always shows the first podcast in the list.  I have 22 podcasts I subscribe to, and that's a lot of clicking and scrolling to find the podcast that is playing when all I had to do was click once.
Any ideas?

I've asked this question many times but no one dared to answer.I "think" it's because this thing is impossible with SourceDtaLIne.So you better try JMF.

  • Play podcasts in chronological order?

How do you get iTunes to play podcasts in chronological order, automatically starting the next one when one finishes?

Put them in a playlist, arranged as you wish them to play. It's annoying to have to do this workaround, but it works.

How can I play podcasts on my iphone without using data?

I used to sync my podcasts to my phone individually, but found out that the Podcast app works better for me.  It continously downloads the podcasts (not really sure when, that's the only thing, when its downloading it may use data depending on where you are) and also deletes the ones i have listened to.  Hopefully that will help you out!

How can I stop the auto play feature automatically playing/streaming the next podcast?

    Hi there.
I listened to podcast there were two things I found that helped me out. Both we're in the podcast app itself.
Firstly change the default sorting order. When looking at the list off episodes a available on your ios device tap on the description part at the top, this will bring up the settings for that podcast (subscribe mark as played etc) scroll to the Bottom and select oldest first. This will mean that if you are listening to the latest download it will stop at the end as there will be no more to play.
Secondly, and useful if listening to older podcasts in the list, you can use the timer to stop once the current episode has ended. To do this when you are in the podcast playback screen slide the "album artwork" up, revealing the playback options and nifty tape playing animation this is where you adjust playback speed and set a timer. The timer has a number of options to set playback to stop after set amount of time. However one of these options is to stop once the current episode you are listening to ends. This can also be current chapter if the podcast you are listening to supports chapters.
Hope this helps, if not clear let me know

  • How to play podcasts through car?

Now that they've moved podcasts out of the iTunes module, I can no longer set up a playlist through iTunes.   I discovered this morning that I also cannot play podcasts through my car iPod system.   Anyone have a fix for this?

    Any thoughts on this?
Do you have an original iPhone or a 3G model?
On the original model only the Apple headphones can be fully inserted into the headphone port unless you use an adaptor, that may be your problem.

  • How do I get iTunes to play more than one song at a time on my PC?

I have selected all in a playlist, then click the play button. It plays only the first song in the playlist. How do I get it to play all of those selected?

My iTunes is doing the same thing: when I select a playlist and hit "play," if shuffle is turned on, iTunes plays only one song and then stops. If shuffle is turned off, it plays just fine (one song after another, in order).
Select the songs, right click - get info.
Select the Options tab and Uncheck *Skip when shuffling*.
Also, when I hit shuffle, it doesn't rearrange the songs in the playlist like it's supposed to.
If you are sorting on any column besides the very first on before the track name, the songs will stay displayed in that same sort order.
When you play the playlist, the list will jump around and be shuffled.
If you are sorting on the very first column, the list will be displayed in the shuffled order and play in that order.

  • Auto-removing played podcasts from a smart playlist

I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out a way to do this. I have two smart playlists for podcasts. The first contains my favourite podcasts and they are removed from the playlist once they've finished playing. This works and I accomplished it like this (using two smart playlists):
Smart Playlist 1 - Favourite Podcasts Helper
    - Album is "Podcast A"
    OR
    - Album is "Podcast B"
    OR
    - Album is "Podcast C"
    etc
Smart Playlist 2 - Favourite Podcasts
    - Playlist is "Favourite Podcasts Helper"
    AND
    - Playcount is 0
As I say, it works great. It's annoying to have to have an extra playlist in there (necessary because you can't mix AND with OR conditions in a single smart playlist) but I prefix it with a "z" and it drops out of sight to the bottom.
Now, here's the problem. I want a playlist for all the other podcasts that DON'T appear in my favourites list and which ALSO removes played podcasts. I don't want to name them all because I don't want to have to remember to add each new podcast to the list because there are a lot of them and I always forget to add them when I load a new podcast onto the iPod.
    I tried to do this:
Playlist 3 - All Other Podcasts
    - Podcast is true
    AND
    - Playlist is not "Favourite Podcasts"
    AND
    - Playcount is 0
It works in so far as it collects all the right podcasts but it won't update, leaving played podcasts in the list. It WILL update if I remove the "Podcast is true" condition but that makes it useless. I tried splitting it up as in my Favourites playlist, moving the "Podcast is true" condition out into it's own playlist but that doesn't help. It seems that as long as a "Podcast" condition is in the chain somewhere, it stops it from updating.
Maybe this is a bug that will get squashed in the next firmware update. Until then does anyone have an idea of how to make it work without listing every single podcast album?

    I had previously tried
    Smart Playlist - all podcasts
    . podcast is true
    Smart Playlist - unheard podcasts
    . playcount is 0
    AND
    . playlist is all podcasts
And that didn't work, I guess because the first playlist won't update. After reading your post I thought that it ought to work the other way around if the playcount is being analysed first:
    Smart Playlist - anything unheard
. playcount is 0 (this works fine)
    Smart Playlist - unheard podcasts
    . playlist is anything unheard
But that won't work either. While the first playlist updates fine, the second one never updates and continues to display content that no longer appears in the playlist it is built on. Frustrating. I'm sure there must be a shortcut that hasn't occurred to me yet.

  • Removing played podcasts from iTouch

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to remove played podcasts from my touch? I have my synch settings set to sych only all unplayed. If I just delete the podcasts, they get added back in because iTunes doesn't see them as having been played. However, iTunes is not automatically deleting the podcasts that have been played from my touch. So now I'm in a situation where I have no space left on my touch because it's filled with podcasts that iTunes refuses to remove.
I'd be very interested in hearing how I can address this problem.
    thnx,

  • How can I reverse the order of podcasts so I can listen in cronological order

How can I reverse the order of podcasts so I can listen in cronological order!

What I did was create a playlist for the podcasts and keep it sorted in reverse date order, which puts the oldest first. To prevent it from automatically playing the next podcast, I actually mark all podcasts as "skip when shuffling", and then play in shuffle mode. I also make sure all my podcasts have a genre of "podcast"; I discovered that if you use media type, the playlist doesn't update correctly on the iPod classic
So, what I've got is a playlist of the form: (play count = 0) and (genre = podcast), sorted in reverse date order.

  • Playing podcasts

    Hi,
I have a newly purchased iPod Classic 160G (just in time!) and am sure Podcasts are behaving differently.
On previous models I am sure that when you selected a podcast, it would play just the one selected episode, now it seems to play all podcasts in that subscription.
I Googled a lot of solutions for how people actually want this behaviour, but not the other way around!
So, am I going mad, or has this behaviour changed? If it has, how can I set it back?
I am definately playing podcasts by selecting "Podcasts" from the main menu, they are not in a playlist (which was one of the solutions I found on Google)
    Hope you can help.
    Thanks

    Ah, an easy question!
You'll notice that the display says 1 of X (episodes) when you play the Podcast.
If you go to the Settings menu and select *shuffle Songs/Albums* it will cause the 160GB iPod to play one Podcast episode and then stop. While the episode is playing, you will see 1 of 1 in the display.
You may think I'm joking, but I'm not - and you are correct, it is different to other iPod models, in particular the 30GB video!
You can also choose the play-one-episode by choosing *shuffle song/albums* while a song is playing - that is by pressing the Select button (three times) until the shuffle option appears. Weird, but that's it! I've no idea why and I cannot find it documented anywhere.
However, play-one-episode _does not work if_ you are at the *Main Menu* with no song playing and you select *Shuffle Songs* . (I have removed the *Shuffle Songs* option from the main menu to stop me choosing it when I'm in a hurry!)
Perhaps (like me) you would really like the iPod to play the oldest episode first then onto newer ones. It doesn't and Apple don't seem to be in a hurry to offer the option, despite feedback. Maybe those who listen to one episode after another don't need date-order-playing! By the way - forget the Playlist suggestion, it will only annoy you!

  • Episode Syncing and Played Podcasts

Ever since I've had my Touch (about six months) it has never consistently synced the "played" settings of podcasts. Often I will listen to a podcast all the way through on my Touch and then, after I sync with iTunes, the same podcast will show up on my Touch again as "New" (never listened to). Very frustrating. I deal with it by just skipping through to the podcast I want to hear.
But even worse is what's been happening with my TV Show episodes. For whatever reason, my Touch is not syncing them in order!! When I purchased a new season of X-files, all the episodes were, of course, "new" and "never played." I set my Touch to sync the "3 least recent unwatched" episodes of TV Shows.
After syncing, my Touch had episodes 1, 3, and 5 on it! And what ***** is that, with the new iPod software (2.1) I can no longer read the episode number! The line under the Episode title says, "Season 2, Episod... 10/14/94" The date causes the episode to be cut off, so when I'm out and about, I can't even tell if I'm watching the right episode or not! Agh! I just watched two episodes out of order without even knowing it!
Very frustrating. If anyone knows how to get iTunes to sync properly, I'd appreciate it.

Any Luck? I just bought a 2nd gen Touch and it constantly syncs already played podcasts as new.(audio and video) What a pile of **. This is driving me nuts.. I never had a problem with my 5th gen syncing.

  • E52 jump songs when play some AAC files downloaded...

Hi, Nokia fans. I recently updated my firmware to 034.001. MY E52 jumps songs when play some AAC files downloaded from iTunes store. It doesn`t occur until I updated to the newest firmware. Any idea how to fix this?
    Regards for Chan

Actually, no I don't have crossfade playback on. The files cut out anywhere from 5 - 60 seconds before the file is supposed to finish, it really has nothing to do with crossfade...

  • Not marking played podcasts

Latest software upgrade fixed the issue of playing one podcast then stopping...big improvement. Now played podcasts remain marked as unplayed on the Nano but when I sync with iTunes, iTunes seems to know which podcasts were played and marks them correctly.

This was the way podcasts worked in all iPods since the beginning and how many used it. It made more sense to play individual episodes in the Podcasts section and adding them to playlists for sequential playback. Many used it this way for years to play individual episodes from the Podcast section when they didn't want all the episodes marked as played. This was the reason I no longer use my touch for podcast listening. Playlists and smart playlists are a better option for sequential playback due to their automation and customizability. Smart Playlists can easily gather up new episodes of different podcasts creating a virtual "radio station".
Now to play an individual podcast episode at bedtime I must make a separate playlist for one episode and do clean up afterwards. One step backwards if you ask me. Now you see lots of complaints here as to why the podcasts are not stopping. A better fix would have been to add an option for sequential playback in the iPod's Podcasts section.

  • IPod no longer removing played podcasts

Please help! this is driving me absolutely insane. I have my iPod sync settings set to: automatically include all unplayed episodes of selected podcasts. It used to work just fine, only syncing unplayed podcasts, and removing played podcasts. now it just adds the new unplayed podcasts but doesn't remove the played ones. i make sure that i listen to the podcast all the way through. i am not doing anything differently than i have ever done. help!!!

This just started happening to me.  I discovered after much playing around that the podcast will stay on the device even after being played if it is also listed on a Smart Playlist for which the rules don't include a rule based on the number of plays.  So, for instance, I recently added the Smart Playlists called "today" and "Recently Added".  If you command-click these, and Edit, you will see that the rules that define them do not include anything to filter out played episodes.  To each one I added "Plays is 0" and that fixed it.
Alternatively, with the device plugged in, click on the device name on the left side of iTunes, click Podcasts from the iTunes options (across the top, i.e., Summary...Info... Podcasts...), and on the Podcasts page, uncheck all Smart Playlists that may be checked.
    Hope this helps.
