How do I keep audiobooks and music separate?

I have audiobooks on my PC as playlists but I don't want them on my nano. My ipod and PC are synced. This means I can't use shuffle because odd chapters of the audiobooks get played! I want to keep my nano and PC synced so how do I separate the audiobooks so they stay on my PC but don't get downloaded to the ipod?
Many thanks for any help

click the Summary tab and select "Only sync checked items."
Then UNcheck (or deselect) your audiobook files in each audiobook playlist with Shift-Control-A

  • How do I keep my Xmas Music Separate but Accessable? Different Libraries?

I have a library of about 90 gigs of music with an extra 3 or 4 gigs of Christmas Music.
Not wanting to Jingle Bell Rock through the summer I removed the Christmas music last January and in a few weeks will find that DVD and load them back.
I wonder if there is an easier way under iTunes 7? I would like to keep all my music together but for most of the year I don't want the Christmas music showing up in my party shuffle.
    Any organizing thoughts?
    Ho Ho Ho!

I wonder if there is an easier way under iTunes 7? I would like to keep all my music together but for most of the year I don't want the Christmas music showing up in my party shuffle.
You could of course create a new library in iTunes and add all XMas music to it.
That library would only contain XMas music. There 's no way to switch between libraries or listen to both libraries simultaneously.
You have to quit iTunes and on launch of iTunes choose another library.
A more convenient way is to apply the genre XMas (or similar) to your Christmas music and to create a Smart Playlist when the january arrives (or test it now).
Set as rules (if you're using iTunes 7):
Playlist - is - Music (the Music library is selectable here as an playlist!!)
Genre - is not - XMas
Name this playlist 'Music2' or whatever you prefer and use this playlist as your source for the Party Shuffle for 11 months of the year.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I share photos and music between different user accounts on the same macbook

How do I share photos and music between different user accounts on the same Macbook? i.e. I want all to be able to access family photos when logged into their respective accounts. Same goes for the iTunes library. Hope this is possible...
    Thanks!

To give other users read-only access to your iTunes library, use the Sharing features of iTunes. Sharing works over the local network as well as on the same computer. See the built-in help for details.
To give others selective access to your iPhoto library, you have the option of using iCloud Photo Sharing, if the privacy implications don't bother you. The images will be stored temporarily on Apple servers.
If you want to give full read/write access to more than one user, see the support articles linked below.
iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer
iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users
There is a way to share the library without moving it to a secondary volume. If you really need to do that, ask for instructions.

  • HT204053 how do I share calendars and music between two ID's?

How do I share calendars and music between two Apple ID's?  We have a Mac Pro and two Iphones.  Currently we utilize one ID between the Iphones in order to sync the calendars and music.

You can privately share a calendar between devices using different iCloud IDs as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a8694.  Even if your devices use different IDs for iCloud you can continue to share the same ID for iTunes to share your music and other purchased media.  The ID you use on a device for iCloud does not need to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.

  • TS4036 how do i backup photos and music from my computer to icloud

How do I backup photos and music to icloud to download to my iphone4s or ipad.  Not having any luck transferring by direct connect

You can redownload music purchased from iTunes as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.  Music from other sources can only be accessed from iCloud if you subscribe to iTunes Match.
Photos can be transferred by putting them in a folder, then selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  Or, you can transfer them over wifi by using an app like PhotoSync.  To stream them with iCloud, you have to set up iCloud on your computer as explained here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html, enable photo stream, then add photos as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2606.

  • How do you download tones and music that you,ve purchased to your new up grade phone

how do you downlaod tones and music that you've already purched to your new phone that you just up graded too and if you reported a problem to i tunes what do you do next.
i've checked the itunes purchase history and before i got the new phone i backed my phone to my computer, so what do i need to do next to recover my lost itune purchases

Purchases from iTunes should be in the iTunes library on your computer, simply connect the device and sync the content you want.
If for some silly reason you choose to not use the device as designed, simply go to the iTunes store app on the device and download the content directly there.
I'd strongly recommend that you take a look at the User's Guide, that will answer many of your questions about how to use the device.

How can i keep mine and my husbands contacts from combining when syncing our phones

Don't sync each iPhone with the same supported address book app on the shared computer.
There are a number of free email accounts that support syncing contacts over the air such as with a free iCloud account, with a Yahoo account, Gmail account, and Hotmail account.
Do that instead with different accounts for each of you and no longer sync contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer.
