How do I keep copies of outgoing mail?

how do I keep copies of outgoing mail?

You can go into settings and mail and scroll down to 'always BCC myself' which sends you a 'blind copy'....meaning the recipients don't know you've sent yourself a copy.
alternatively some e-mail interfaces, like yahoo, allow you to access the advanced settings and keep sent mails in a sent folder. What you can/can't do depends on the way you access the mail, because my hotmail, for example, doesn't allow me to keep sent mails but yahoo does.

  • How to save all incoming and outgoing mail

I run a Leopard server with 10 email clients that I want to be able to save the incoming and outgoing messages from. I could have sworn that under Tiger, I had the catchall working to include both incoming and outgoing mail to [email protected]
However, under Leopard the catchall seems to grab only the incoming emails? Is there a way to do this? or - is there a better way I SHOULD be doing this. Basically I need both a record of emails for liability issues and the ability to access them easily (this was made convenient by using webamil to login and read as needed).
    Thanks!

  • TS4002 How do you re-establish the outgoing mail server (SMTP)?

I am trying to re-establish my outgoing mail server (smtp).  I can receive mail, but can't send any out.  I have tried all the listed options in the pull-down, but just can't make any of it work.

If you are setting this up on your Mac using Snow Leopard, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5330.  The outgoing mail server is smtp.me.com.

  • How do I keep duplicate messages in Mail and Gmail?

For the past few years messages would appear in both my Mail and Gmail inboxes.  If I deleted a message in Gmail, the duplicate would REMAIN in Mail. Therefore, I could keep some messages in my gmail account that pertained to work and delete their duplicates in Mail (since I wouldn't need them at home). Likewise, I could keep some messages organized in my Mail folders and delete their counterparts in the Gmail account.
At some point I must've downloaded an update or something because the accounts are now totally synced.  If I delete a message in my Gmail inbox (or even move it to a Gmail folder), it vanishes from my Mail inbox.
I know this is how most people like these programs to work together, but is there a way to revert it back to the way it was?  I tried toggling off POP, then testing it (didn't work).  Then I toggled off IMAP (still didn't work).  Then I toggled both of them off (still didn't work).  My Mail account is listed as IMAP for what it's worth.

  • How do I keep copies of all messages?

Thius may be an easy one, but I can't figure it out. I have three email accounts: 2 IMAP email accounts and a .Mac account. Since the first two are IMAP, when I delete it on my computer, it gets deleted on the server. If I don't delete them, I very quickly reach my 100 Mb limit (in a few days.) I also like to keep my inbox clean, only active issues.
I could manually save all messages, but that is a chore.
Ideas as to how I could set up a mailbox that keeps a copy of EVERY message (in, out, deleted) on my computer, while allowing me to delete from the servers?
    Thanks,
    Peter

Open Mail Preferences, select Accounts from the toolbar, select an account. Click on Mailbox Behaviors tab. Last item, Trash: uncheck the box labeled "Store deleted messages on server." This will stop Mail from storing deleted mail on the server. All deleted mail will now be stored locally. Do this for each of your mail accounts, then clear out the deleted mailbox on the server to recover space.
You will note that you can do the same for Drafts, Sent, and Junk mailboxes if you prefer to save them locally rather than on the server.

  • How can I keep my iPhone 4 Mail from freezing & losing drafts?

I often send email from my iPhone (4 with iOS 5.0.1) only to find that the phone doesn't have a connection.
Often once it has a connection again, the mail program will never load -- instead freezing, the "load wheel" forever circling, "Checking for Mail..."
This is a big problem for the email I "sent" -- because without a connection it didn't save to the Outbox.
I have tried to solve it by saving my outgoing emails as drafts, but they don't save as drafts without a connection!? Why should the device require a connection to save a draft??
It's actually very similar to a problem I used to have with my iPhone 2's mail program. I searched for this topic before posting and I found other users had the previous problem too, in 2008: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1611568?start=0&tstart=0

  • Why do i get 2 copies of outgoing mails in my sent folder

I have used one e-mail account (eclipse.co.uk) for years. I recently added two more. With one (Hotmail.co.uk) whenever I send a message I get two copies in the 'Sent' folder. This does not happen with the other accounts.
On the third account (plus.com) some of the incoming messages appear twice in the inbox. This doesn't happen on the other accounts

I made a big mistake ! I am using Thunderbird Mail not Firefox.
I took your link and found an answer to the two messages in the Sent folder but didn't see anything about duplicate incoming messages.
I recently transferred to Plusnet. On the first day 5 messages to me on my new address, all from them, only appeared once. Subsequently all messages from them appear twice. Messages I have sent to myself only appear once.
Thanks for your help - sorry about confusing the original request for help.

  • Why are multiple copies of outgoing mail saved in drafts folder?

It looks as if these are being auto-saved every 5 minutes. How do I fix this?

If it takes you longer than 5 minutes to compose a message, you will get more than one copy saved to Drafts. You can change the time interval in Options > Composition or uncheck "Auto Save every X minutes".

  • How did I mess up my Outgoing Mail?

I thought I was just cleaning up my iPad mail settings, because I noticed i had two aol accounts listed, one with Mail & Notes and one w/ just mail. I deleted the one w/ notes since my iCloud acct had Notes + list of other stuff. Aol is my primary. Getting error: "Cannot send mail. Copy placed in out box". On my iTouch I also get "The recipient (xxx@ xxx) was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying". I even added another aol acct with notes but no change. PLS HELP!

The above should read "email and notes"  the ampersand (&) didn't seem to print out correctly.

  • How do I keep Safari from launching Mail when I click on a mailto: URL?

I have a MacBook running Mavericks 10.9.4, running Safari 7.0.6.
I read my email via the gmail website, so I don't need to use the Mail application. The problem is, if I accidentally click on a mailto: link, it runs Mail.
I've seen some fixes online which change the mail application to something else, but that's not what I want; I want to stop the behavior entirely.
Any ideas? (I know about modifying .plist files, so if there's a quick hack there, that would be nice to know.)

I can't promise this will work since I don't want to mess with my preferences to try it:
Open the AppleScript Editor in Applications/Utilities. Paste this into it:
    do shell script "open https://mail.google.com"
Save as an application and place somewhere convenient. Nominate this application as your default mail application.

  • Two copies of sent mail appearing in sent box

Hi, how do I get help from microsoft?? I need help with outlook sending two copies of outgoing mail to me sent box. One copy inly is delivered to recipients.

    Hi,
If you are using IMAP accounts, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 save a sent message in the IMAP account's Sent message folder and your IMAP mail provider may also save a copy. Therefore, it results that two messages are listed in the Sent Items folder every
    time you send a message.
To resolve the issue, please follow Clark Kent’s suggestion to
choose the option for Do not save copies of sent items and send a test message to see if the problem persists. For more information about this issue, please refer to the following article:

  • My account picture in outgoing mail

    This is a dumb question
but I don't know how to get rid of my account picture from my outgoing mail.
I have no idea how it got there in the first place.
It is in all my outgoing mail. Can someone please tell me how to remove it from my outgoing mail .
    Thank you

    Hi Teresita,
Assuming you have a .Mac account,
    try online, your .Mac,
Account Settings > Mail Preferences > Composing
there should be an option to "use a custom photo", that you can uncheck.
    Another place you can investigate:
On your computer, in Address Book, edit your own profile, the one with the black silhouette.
If there is a picture of you, take it off,
Mail then after a logout-login should not be able anymore to find any picture of you.

  • Outgoing mail server- Using Coldfusion developer edition server

Can anyone tell me how I can find the outgoing mail server on
    my computer?
I am using the training from the source book, and I attempted
to find it in Outlook Express, but it is not saved in there,
because I never use that program.
How else can I find the outgoing mail server for sending SMTP
mail messages using the Coldfusion developer edition?
    Thanks,
    Aarati

On a standard windows machine running IIS then the IP address
    127.0.0.1 will
    access the default smtp client.
