How do I keep text columns visible?

Hi, When I create text columns and rows in the Area Type Options box they preview but disappear the moment I
click on them or try to put guides on them. How do I keep them visible?
Any suggestions.
Regards'
Ovidivo.

Now I understand you. You are talking about the dividers between the columns, not the text box.
No, you can't select the box by clicking on them, nor can you snap guides to them.
In fact they're only there to show you the maximum width of the columns.
The only way to keep them visible is to have the box selected.
Otherwise, I have always preferred linked single column text boxes in Illie.
It's easier to control text flow that way, but that's only my personal preference.

  • How do I keep text in a converted file??

    I want to convert a PDF file that I received as an email attachement.  Can I convert it without saving it first.  It is the type that will let you save a blank form but not the info typed in and I don't want to retype the entire form.

    When I try to save it only the form is saved not the text that was typed in.  I want to save the info so I don't have to retype it.Bob

    Hi, Bob.Yes, CreatePDF will allow you to save a PDF file as a Word file, so you can then type and add text to that Word file. If you received it as an email attachment, it will be easiest to: 1) save it to your computer's desktop, 2) upload it to the CreatePDF service.Please let us know if you have additional questions or issues.Regards,Dave

  • How can I keep the column names in view on long spreadsheets?

    I want to be able to see the column header names on long spreadsheets. In Excel you can create multiple panes in the window so as to keep both column and row headers in view. Any way to do this in numbers?

    In Numbers 09 there is a similar feature; Freeze Header Row, or Column. It's only available in the Sheet View mode. In Print View mode, you can choose to Repeat Header on each page.
    The controls are included in the Format Bar and Table Inspector, Heaader and Footer controls.

    oopss.. how do we attache images here ?

    Gokce,
    Have you tried inserting a text box? If not, click on View > Show Layout to enter the layout view. Click in the gray margin area to make your cursor disapppear. Then click on Insert > Text. The box will be defined as Fixed on Page (because you clicked in the margin area), allowing you to move it anywhere on the page. You can resize it to look just like a column, then put text in it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Div tag - how do you keep text within box

    I have looked at many of the sample documents where the
    columns, div boxes, etc are layed out for you. Margins and padding
    are set. However it seems when I type text within the boundry I can
    just keep typing clear outside the boundries. Shouldn't the text
    auto-wrap to stay within the box. What good does it do to have the
    div tag settings if they don't enclose the text for you? What am I
    missing here.

    Put a space in what you are typing, please. See what happens.

  • How do you keep text box formatting data after saving and closing a PDF? (Acrobat XI)

    I love that Acrobat XI has the feature "Edit Text & Images". It saves me and my company time when modifying PDFs for our clients. Though I am having some formatting woes...
    When I insert a new text box into the document, I can span the entire text box from top to bottom of the page. I can type whatever I want in it and it makes it simple for editing later. Though, when I save the document, close it, and reopen it, all the text that was in one huge text box is broken out into multiple text boxes (per line of text). This makes it a pain to do any edits to the document because the text overlaps and does not wrap (different text boxes over one another). How can I stop this from happening? Is there a way to combine multiple text boxes maybe? What is the best solution to this issue? (running trial version of Acrobat XI on Win7 64-bit)

    Why we have chosen not to use comments is due to the how jumbled they become on a page. We are basically going back and putting detailed annotations/footnotes (with numbered markers) to identify what portion of the page the functionality lives/exist. Comments also sometimes close so you cannot find them very easily...
    I have just figured out with this form text field solution, I can't use underlined text...sigh...
    Update: Figured out the underlined text, CTRL+I

  • How do you keep bottom columns from overlapping another div

    I am using DW CS3 and am following instructions on making first web page everything is fine till I get to positioning the columns at the bottom of page when i try and set a css rule to position left column the column overlaps the previous div the instructions i am using are from adobe http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_cs4_website_pt2_08.html here is the code that I have up to the point that I put in the rule for the left column for the design page
    <div id="container">
       <div id="banner"></div>
       <div id="main_image></div>
       <div id="left_column">Content for id"left_column" Goes Here</div>
       <div id="column_container">
           <div id="right_column">Content for id"right_column" Goes Here</div>
           <div id="center_column">Content for id"center_column" Goes Here</div>
       </div>
    </div>
    On the CSS page that is attached to it the code is as follows:
    #container  {
    width:  968 px;
    background:  FFFFFF;
    margin:  0 auto:
    padding-left:  10px:
    padding-right:  10px:
    overflow:  hidden;
    #banner  {
    background-image:  url(images/banner.gif);
    height:  100px;
    width:  968px;
    #main_image  {
    background-image:  url(images/main.jpg);
    height:  376px;
    width:  968px;
    and then I am suppossed to do a box with width of 316 and float left when I do this it floats left and goes down in size but also goes up into the top of my main image why is this happening?

    Zabberwan is correct  :-)   If the basic css is not written correctly, the page will not display as intended.  You are using a colon (:) instead of a semi-coon (;) to close off the style rule... in addition, the #hash tag was missing from the background rule.
    This is what your code should look like before proceeding with the next step of the tutorial:

  • How do I keep text from distorting whenever I resize the text box in Illustrator?

    This has happened to me but that was over two years ago and cannot remember how I fixed it. I did not change any settings. It just happened when I rebooted my computer and opened up the file I am working on. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    What version of Illustrator are you using? Text boxes now have two modes. When you are looking at a selected text box, you should see an arm sticking out on the right side with a small circle at the end of it. Double-clicking on that will change between area type mode, where you can resize the box but not the text, or the other mode (sorry- forgot the official name) where you are changing the look of the type itself when resizing the box.
    Am I understanding your distortion problem correctly?

  • How to set different row - column visibility attribute

    Hi all:
       I have one table in webdynpro for java. For example it have 4 rows, I need to set one column as different visible for row 1st and row 2nd .
               column1   column2
    row1      x               -
    row2      -               x
    Can I set it ?
    Thanks a lot.

    ya sure, u can
    make a visibility element and assign it to the tablecelleditor of each column of ur table. Now in the code, u must have bound the table to a node,  make the visibility element in the same node. Whichever row u want to make invisible, write the following code:
    wdcontext.node<nodename>.get<node name>elementat(<the row which u wish to make invisible>).set<visibility context>(wdvisibility.NONE);
    it will work.
    Let me know if u need further help....
    All The Best!!!

    Thanks.,...

    Array? Don't live in object denial. Define a class (Account?) and parse each line as an Account object. Then you put them into a Map<Integer, Account> by their account number.

  • How do i keep the window visible on top

    I'm watching videos and want them to stay 'on top' of all other windows as I switch between applications...like word to explorer to safari to google...I want to keep my video playing visible on 'top' of all other windows.

    Firefox itself does not have native features for this. However, you can download and install the PowerMenu application for Windows at [http://www.abstractpath.com/powermenu/]. It installs very quickly.
    When you want to watch your video, put it into its own Firefox window (you can do this by right-clicking the video tab and selecting "Move to new window". In this new window, right-click any one of the three Windows buttons at the top right corner (Minimize, Resize, Close). Click "Always On Top" from the menu. This window will now remain on top of all other windows until you uncheck "Always On Top".
    I hope that helps!

  • How do I keep the Slider Visible?

    I have made a worksheet that uses a slider (from the Cell Format tab in the Inspector). I have to click on the cell with the slider to see it, I want to see it all the time; ie it should be visible always.
    How do I do this?
    Thanks in advance for your help,

    Travis,
    Don't click anywhere else and the slider will remain visible.  Otherwise it won't. There's no option on this.

  • How do I keep the toolbar visible?

    I keep having to manually open the toolbar for every document using F8. I didn't before, so what happened? Is there a way to get this setting back?

    Tried that, can't find anything to check. Looked in every heading but can't find anything useful. When I open Adobe itself I see the toolbar, but no if I open a document directly (i.e. from an attachment). Any other ideas?

  • How long should a screen stay visible?

    I'm wondering if there are "best practices" for how long to
    keep a screen visible to give viewers enough time to absorb the
    message. I would guess there are different rules for text versus
    imagery.
    Is it one second, two seconds? when is something up too long,
    making the viewer think the animation is no longer
    working/stalled????
    thank you.

  • Keeping the Menu visible after an action is performed.

    I'm trying to capture the right click events on JMenuItems and display popup menu options for the selected JMenuItem. I've managed to capture the right click and get the Popup ready; however, when the right click is performed, or any other type of "action", the Menu dissappears. How can I keep the menu visible?

    The following code should prevent the menu from closing on a right click:
         class RightClickJMenuItem extends JMenuItem
              public RightClickJMenuItem(String str)
                   super(str);
              protected void processMouseEvent(MouseEvent e)
                   if (e.getModifiers() != MouseEvent.BUTTON3_MASK)
                        super.processMouseEvent(e);
