How do I keep textedit on top?

For example, if I'm surfing the web and want to jot down a few notes, I don't want to have to switch window panes. I want textedit to stay in my browser if that makes sense. Couldn't find any other relevant info on this topic :/. Newbie to mac.
Thanks any help!

Hi Ian4,
Looking at the web site again
Other:
* Unread message notification in the dock
* Growl notifications for new messages and users changing status
* Properly use ICQ accounts without sending text formatting in messages
* Automatically set status to away when screensaver is activated
* Option to auto-accept file transfers
* Hide all iChat windows when iChat is inactive
* Always on top option for user lists, text chats, and audio or video chats
* Set a custom away auto-reply that is different from the away message
* Change the delay of or disable auto-away
* New message windows cascade properly instead of always appearing on top of each other
* Built-in log viewer
* Activity window shows history of user status changes
* Warn before quitting while there are active chats
* Option to disable pausing of AV chats while there are active file transfers
* Disable picture-in-picture in video chats
* Automatically reconnect when disconnected
* Disable alert sounds when away, idle, or available
Seems it should.
Edit: Found how.
Start the Video chat.
Use the Always opn Top option.

  • How do I keep TextEdit from "correcting" hyphens?

I'm trying to type an address in TextEdit. It contains a 5+4 digit ZIP code, e.g. 12345-6789. The character between the first five digits and the last four digits is supposed to be a hyphen, and that's what I typed, but TextEdit replaces it with an en-dash! I cannot figure out how to prevent it from doing this! Does anybody know how I can persuade this idiot program to just accept the characters I type instead of making an incorrect assumption about what I mean???
This is the kind of frustrating idiocy I've come to expect from Microsoft Word. Now Apple's own TextEdit is doing the same thing? This is infuriating.

Open up TextEdit, and then open the font panel (command-"t"). Look at the third menu over from the left on the bottom. It has a little gear icon. Choose "Typography..." from that menu. You can go thru the fonts in the font panel then and see what fonts have what features.
But I can't get all the features that page shows for Helvetica. I only get a choice for common ligatures or no. Some of the other fonts I have have more choices, though. Many of the Adobe fonts have stuff like slashed zeros, swash characters, old style numerals, etc., just not Helvetica....

  • How do I keep my status bar at the top and not moving from side to side and bottom of phone

how do I keep my status bar at the top of my phone? I let my grandsn play a game on my phone and after he gave it back I noticed my status bar would move from the top to the side or bottom etc

Reset, hold both home and power buttons until the iPhone begins to restart itself, ignore the slide to power off slider. Let the iPhone restart itself. Usually takes about 10 seconds of holding both buttons.
Probably do not need this, but Portrait Lock can be set by, pressing home button twice quickly, slide bottom row of icons to the right one time, tap the Portrait Lock icon.

  • I couldn't find the "Reload Page" icon and went to "Customize" found it and moved it to the top tool bar but when I clicked "Done" it dissapeared. It won't stay visible. How can I keep it there for my use?

I have V6 of Firefox and never had to worry about the "Reload Page" icon before so when I upgraded to V6 I was sorry to see that it was gone. Also the "Page Back" arrow isn't lit up and won't work. I have to go to the history and go back using that.. what happened to the back arrow? Now there are 2 clicks instead of one?
I went to the "customize Toolbar" and moved the "reload Page" icon back to the top and it disappeared when I was done. How can I keep the "Reload Page" visible and useful?

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).<br />
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.<br />
You only see the Bookmarks menu button if the Menu bar is hidden.

Use the "setCaretPosition(int)" method of JTextArea and set it to 0.

How can I stick an accordion navigation MENU on top of a mobile scrolling page and make it work properly?
As I can't pin it, I keep it on top of the page with scroll effect 0.
It collapse, shows the menu buttons but doesn't close back once it reaches the anchorpoint.

Muse won't let you, at least not that I know of. You could find the class in the code that muse gives it position: fixed…I think. You could paste it into the head area of your page properties to override the class. I believe something like this would give you persistent nav bar, pinned at the very top, on mobile:
    #youmuseclass {position: fixed;}
I wouldn't use any parallax on mobile either, the performance is terrible.

  • How to keep screen on top of others

    Hi there,
I'm not sure if this is posted already. If it is I apologise.
I have a question which is to do with keeping one screen on top. By this I mean that I would like to watch a movie (keeping this on top)
and at the same time I would like to maybe do my work, play another game or something that is multi-tasking.
I can't stagger the windows around the screen because the screen sizes are locked... so is it possible if I can keep one screen locked on top of another? instead of staggering them around the screen?
I hope my questions is easy to understand. I'm not usually good with technical terminology. Thank you in advance!
    Kind Regards
    Anthony Reid

  • How do I keep the front panel on top of every windows (including non-LabVIEW windows)?

The question above states it all.  Basically I have a progress bar the tells the user to wait and I want it to remain in front of anything that pops up while it is running.  My program opens up and deploys a VeriStand project and while it is doing that I dont' want the user to be able to do anything in the front panel that launches it.  When VeriStand launches it goes in front of the status window and you can't see it anymore.  I want to prevent this from happening and keep it in front of any VeriStand windows that pop up when I call the executable and the deploy an SDF.  I did take a look at the WINUTIL.llb but it keeps either 1) giving me errors or 2) not keeping it on top of anything but the main front panel.
Any fixes or alternative solutions would be much appreciated.  Thank you.

I did read that earlier and I just think I don't know enough of what I'm doing with library calls to make it work.  I kept getting errors and gave up on at the end of the day yesterday.  I'm working on other problems since this isn't a major one and figured I'd post it and see if anyone already had a solution to it.
Thanks for the help though, it's appreciated.

  • How do I keep the "rating" view between tracks in the iPad music app?

Between tracks, the ratings view in iOS 5 switches to album art. How do I keep it from doing so?

I'd like to apologize to all that viewed, and especially those who responded with suggestions.  I apparently overlooked/didn't notice the total songs and length of time at the bottom of the screen.  I was exclusively looking for the information at the top.  My sincere apologies to all.  Thanks very much and happy holidays!

  • HT2509 Despite what this article states, Apple support told me not to try to remove any fonts as it could cause other possibly serious problems.  Is there a program which can be safely installed which will keep at the top of the font list those fonts whic

An article in the New York Times yesterday told how to remove unwanted fonts from the Font Book.  I followed its instructions (the same as those on the webpage "support.apple.com/kb/ht2509") and was NOT successful in removing fonts.  Despite what the newspaper article and the web page stated, my attempts to remove fonts were unsuccessful.  I use perhaps 15-20 of the hundreds and hundreds of fonts, and deleting those I don't use would make choosing a font a lot faster.  I called support and was told not to try to remove any fonts which I myself had not added to the list(I have not added any) as doing so could cause significant problems elsewhere.  The support tech suggested that there might be independent software programs which would keep at the top of the list those fonts I have used, which sure would speed up the process of selecting a font.  Anyone know of such a program, or how to safely alter the font list Thanks.

I just spoke again to tech support and this time an answer was provided that works!  Choose the font you want to use, drag it to the left, and a new "unnamed" folder will appear.  Continue to drag into that folder fonts you want to use.  You can click onto that folder to change its name.  Then when using font book merely click on that folder to open it and select the font wanted.  This tech rep also confirmed that you should NOT try to delete individual fonts as they are part of the basic operating system; he did confirm that the apple web page in parentheses above says otherwise, and will refer that to higher ups to see about removing or modifying that page.

  • How do I keep my macbook pro from automatically rearranging my folders and PDF files on my desktop

How do I keep my macbook pro from automatically rearranging my folders and PDF files on my desktop?  It seems to happen a lot after I've hooked my laptop to my Thunderbolt in my office and then I unhook my laptop to go present at a clients of taking my laptop home to work.  Every once in a while if even places all of my folders and PDF files in the far upper left corner of my screen.  Needless to say, having to constanly rearrange my desktop is extremly annoying and would love to know what the fix is for this problem.  Thank you in advance for any help offered!

Thanks for the tip "baltwo", unfortunately my desktop settings were already set to NONE.  I've had one of my IT guys here this moring helping me look through all of this and we're at a wall trying to figure out why it's doing this.  This morning when I docked to the Thunderbolt all my folders and PDF files are in the upper lefthand corner stacked on top of each other almost out of view.  If I go to settings, displays, and swith to mirroring, all the folders and files go right back to where they're set up on my MacBook desktop, but I lose the ability to utilize the entire screen of the Thunderbolt.  Very frustrating to say the least and after searching through and reviewing several forums, Apple is very much aware of this issue and seems to be keeping silent on the issue.  Hoepfully they'll launch a fix soon!
THANKS again for the tip, it's much appreciated!

  • Keep Pallets On Top in CS4

I've been working to save my CS4 layout so my panels are repositioned as they were in CS3 (which was a better layout in my opinion).
However, I can't keep the panels on top of my foreground image I'm working. In CS3, when you would move the window of the image your were working on, it would always slide UNDER the panels. Now, in CS4 it's always on top. This makes it vary difficult to grab new tools and edit content in layers when the image your working on is blocking your pallets. I'm constantly having to drag things around.
Is there any way to configured CS4 to keep all the panels on top, Ala how Windows XP keeps the taskbar on top of all other windows?
    Thanks!

    Several things come to mind:
    1.  Use Tabbed view.  Yes, I understand that people who are used to the old Photoshop greatly prefer windowed view, but try using the Tabbed view instead for a few weeks. It solves the problem you're describing and it actually can grow on you. I know; I was a die-hard windowed view fan and I finally converted, and lo and behold I now like tabbed view a lot.  It just seems to work better.
    2.  Drag the panels out of their docked position so they're floating.  Then they will stay on top of the image edges.  If you have only one monitor, you might consider running Photoshop as "restored" (i.e., windowed and not full screen), and narrowing the main window - so the panels are out over the desktop.  This is similar to what people with multiple monitors often do.
Hope these suggestions give you some ideas to try.

The 1st and 2nd gen shuffles do not have an automatic syncing mode, like later shuffles and the "big" iPods.  It is maintained manually (or by using the Autofill feature).
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The shuffle appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES, when connected.
To add songs to the shuffle...  Show a list of songs in the iTunes window.  For example, you can select Music under LIBRARY (in the sidebar) to show your complete iTunes music library list.  Select a song and drag it to the shuffle in the sidebar.  You can do this with more than one song selected.  Alternately, select the song(s), right-click the selection, and choose the command to Add to Playlist -> [name of iPod].
To remove songs from the shuffle...  Select the shuffle in the sidebar.  To the right, it's Settings screen is shown.  Toward the top, where it says Settings, click on On This iPod (to the right).  The list of songs on the shuffle is shown below.  Select the song you want to remove and press Delete on the keyboard.  You can do this with more than one song selected.
NOTE:  At the bottom of the shuffle's list of songs, there are controls for the Autofill feature.  You can also use Autofill to fill your shuffle from your music library or from a specific playlist.

Are you referring to the Dock?
If so, go to the Apple menu > Dock and select "Turn hiding off".
If you are referring to individual icons on the Dock, right-click or Control-click on the icon, and in the Options submenu in the popup that appears, select "Keep in Dock".

Instead of it starting up with a dialogue box to select an existing or start a new document.

    @Alley_Cat thanks for the ideas.
    I turned off System Preferences > iCloud > Documents&Data - problem solved.
I'll use DropBox instead  - it provides the options for a better experience.  I hope Apple keep working on iCloud so that it doesn't go the way of Moble Me.
