How do i keep the aps from running in the background on my iphone 4s?  Just downloaded the new version

If you're talking about closing running apps, they changed it up a bit from iOS6. Now you just double click the home button to bring up the running apps, side scroll to the app you want to close, then just swipe up.

Try rebooting your iPad and see if they reappear.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If they still do not show up, make sure hat you don't have content restrictions set that could prevent certain apps from showing up on your iPad. Settings>General>RestrictionsAllowed Content.
if you still don't see them, connect your iPad to iTunes on your computer and you should see them in the iPad mini screens on the right side of iTunes after the iPad has been selected under "devices" and when you are in the apps pane of iTunes.

I have an old version of the Logic in cds. Can I just download a new version and give the serial number so I don't have to pay twice?

    No..
You cannot download any version of Logic that you bought on CDs.... You must reinstall it using the disks that came with the boxed set.
The only downloadable version now is Logic Pro X....which, like everyone else.... you must buy via the App Store... as it is a new version and there is no upgrade from any other version.

  • How can I stop the fan from running continuously on my iMac?  I have tried resetting the SMC and this did not work.

I have a 27 in. iMac OS X, Version 10.7.5, Intel Core i5 and have a problem with the very loud and annoying fan running continuously.  The fan starts up immediately upon powering up and stays on all the time.  I have researched this on the internet and have tried resetting the SMC unsuccessfully.  Should I try fan control software?

To reset the SMC means to reset the power management settings for your Mac. To do this, follow these simple steps.
    1) Shutdown your Mac by going to the Apple Logo in the upper left hand corner of the screen and selecting "Shut Down" from the drop down menu.
    2) Turn your machine back on while continuing to hold down the power button.
    3) After the initial boot chime, your power indicator light should flash three times.
    4) Your screen will remain black and you will hear the boot chime again. At this point, you may release the power button and allow your Mac to boot up normally.
All the best with getting your Mac Mini to run smoothly.

How do I view a PDF file that is a linked on a web site using my I pad?  I already downloaded the free PDF reader ap.

When you tap on the PDF link, the file should open directly on the screen while you are in Safari. You can then tap on - Open In - in the upper right corner of the PDF. Then tap on Open In and select your PDF app from the pop up.
If you do not see the Open In button, just tap on the open PDF somewhere and that will make the button reappear for a few seconds.

  • When I sync my iphone to be able to import all the photos from a specific photo album onto my iphone.. why do the videos included not import?!

So I used to have an iPhone 5 with 7000+ photos inc videos. I finally decided to free up some memory by exporting the entire camera roll into a specific folder on my windows pc. In the album are all the photos and videos, matching the content from my camera roll (obviously). Now I have the 5S and would like the entire library of photos back into my photos app. So obviously it was as simple as plugging in my iPhone and clicking the photos tab, then 'Sync Photos from' and choosing that specific folder that I had previous exported my camera roll into. I then ticked the include videos checkbox. After the sync was completed, I then went onto my photo album and found the correct album being listed. However the number of photos on the iphone album did not match the number of photos in the actual album on my windows pc. Then I realised the reason.. the videos have not transferred? I've tried resyncing several times. iTunes identifies the album to exist the correct number of photos/videos as it should do, yet my iphone still has not imported any videos. Is there anything i'm doing wrong?! Thanks in advance for any help.

Seems that you can no longer hide them on your phone.  Try doing so in iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.

  • How can I keep bootable partitions from showing when I want to use my usb stick without the option command at boot up?

Im using a usb stick with bootable diagnostic partitions and a extra partition for diags that run in the OS. When i want to use diagnostics from this extra partition on a mac thats already booted, I have to wait for all the bootable partitions to mount as well as the one partition that I need. Is there a way to hide these bootable partitions when using the usb drive as a storage device to run diags in the OS?
    Thanks

I think I may have to look into a redirect line in my htaccess file so that direct loads of my mp3's route through my website page.
If you do this you may find iTunes won't read the files, so I should test carefully on one file first if possible.

  • How do I stop a query from running when the page is loaded

    Hi All,
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4. I have a JSPX page that is used to collect search parameters and then when a button is clicked uses those values to run a query and then populate a table on the same page. The problem is that when the page is loaded the system attempts to run the query. The query is a method in a session bean. I can keep the method from running the query code by wrapping it in an 'if' statement and checking the parameters for null (or other value). Once the parameters are collected the query is invoked but it looks like the method is running twice, once with the parameters (here I've checked that the result actually has rows in the list) and then again where the parameters are null and the method returns null.
What is the best way to do what I want here? From the buttons action method I am called the session beam method and returning null to stay on the same page. I think that is why the method is running the second time and returning null.
    TIA,
    Dave

Hi, I have changed from an old laptop to a macbook air. how can i keep my music from my iPhone and sync it my macbook? Only purchased music seems to be available to sync, even though the rest of the music was uploaded from CD's on my  last laptop.
As I can't upload CD's onto the Macbook Air, how do I keep the existing music on my iphone syn onto my new macbook without deleting all the cds on the iphone??
    Many thanks!

    Hi RaulRod,
Are you pressing the Sync button to transfer music after connecting your iPhone or do you have the option checked to 'Automatically Sync when the iPhone is connected?'
Have you tried manually dragging and dropping music from your library into your phone?

    1. Sync wasn't intended to be used in that manner. You would be better off carrying around a USB Flash Stick with Portable Firefox for use on "strange" PC's.
    2. You could open the "Library" {Ctrl + Shift + B} and highlight all those bookmarks and then delete them all at once. But that would also delete all the other bookmarks, and it isn't foolproof. All another person would need to do it to '''''restore''''' a bookmark backup file that has your bookmarks. Beyond that, a new Profile could be created and then the current Profile deleted; but that's "messing with" someone else's computer - an action that is worthy of terminating a friendship over, IMO.
And if that "public" computer was set up properly, Sync should have been disabled.

  • Re: How do I keep an application from being started morethan once?

Here are some quick ideas. None of them should be too hard to implement,
    although each has some drawbacks.
    1. Have a login server track who is logged on, and if there is already a
logon for a given user or a given machine, then deny the application
startup. The nice thing about this is that a user will not be able to have
multiple logins even by going to another machine. Then again, this may not
be so nice, and you also get a possible single point of failure on the
login server for which you will have to prepare.
    2. Drop to the operating system, and get a list of processes for the client
machine. If the name of one of them matches the name of application that
is being run, then deny startup. This avoids a network hit, but requires
some OS specific code. Also, a clever user could change the name of an
executable to get around this. Note that a user could have another login
    on another machine.
    3. Write to a file on the local machine. You can hide the file in some
suitable place, and can also scramble some information so that a user
cannot get around having this file present by reading from the file at
startup and then writing to it. Based on the state of your application,
the file will have some scrambled information indicating if an instance of
an application can be started. If you retain the write lock (i.e. do not
close) the file for the duration of the application, you increase your
security at the risk of a confused user if the application gets terminated
without releasing the lock. Depending on the OS where the client will run,
this could be an issue. If you like this option, perform some experiments
first on all configurations of an example client machine to determine the
behavior. Again, this only works to prevent an extra login on a single
    machine, not system wide.
If you are not concerned about your users hacking around too much and don't
care about a login on another machine, I would opt for some version of
number 3. Otherwise, I would venture number 1.

Yet another quick and dirty solution is to use local ExternalConnections.
This is a single instance per machine solution.
    Example is attached.

Subject: Re: How do I keep an application from being started more than
    once?
    Martin,
there are two ways to read your question
    (a) no more than one instance of an application per machine
    (b) no more than one instance of an application per "user"
now if a user has only one machine, and your system has "userids" and you
    only want
one active "session" per "user" then the distinction is irrelevant.
    However, many systems
let people share logins, so a token based thing enforcing one login will be
    problematic.
The downside of #1 approach suggested by Curtis happens when a machine gets
hosed without "logging" the user off the security system, then they can't
get in until their ticket expires or a sysadmin gets involved. Should be
manageable, however. But this enforces one application
instance per user, unless you check both for the presence of an active
token for that user as well as the presence of a token tied to that
particular node name. Otherwise there is nothing to prevent the same user
from launching the app again and logging in as a different user. This is
definitely the best approach of the bunch, and can be adapted for either
    (a) or (b).
Suggestion # 2 won't work unless the application is built as a compiled
    client,
since the process name will be 'ftexec' and not the "name" of the
    application. And it doesn't
prevent a user from launching the app from a different machine (or people
sharing logins). So again it depends on what you are trying to achieve.
#3 also only prevents multiple instances per machine, not necessarily by
    user. Of course
most people don't have multiple machines. The point is that you may be
    trying to
prevent your users from sharing logins. In which case the file thing won't
    do it.
    Some other ideas:
    1. You could, however, enforce one application per machine using the
installed partition agent's ExecutingPartition instrument name. As long as
the user doesn't run the app in a different environment, you can have the
app check at startup time if there is another
ActivePartition running under the same InstalledPartition name.
    (ActivePartitions are child agents
    of InstalledPartitions).
    2. use the ObjectLocationManager and bind a simple object into the naming
system using a naming scheme such as
    /MyApplication/MyNode or
    /MyApplication/MyUserId
the presence of either one would indicate that another instance of that
application is running on either that machine or that user. Of course
these have to be cleaned out, and subject to similar downside as
alternative #1. So you'd essentially be using the forte naming system as a
    distributed lock manager (ouch).
    3. Have the application remove the shortcut to launch it upon startup, and
recreate it when it is finished, or move it to a hidden place. There it
is - the worst idea I've ever come up with. Don't
    do this!
