How do I know I'm using "n"?

How do I know if my MacBook Pro is configured with 802.11n, and that it's being used?

Open up AirPort Utility. Double-click on your AirPort Extreme base station to open the configuration settings. Click on the 'Advanced' icon at the top. Then click the 'Logs and Statistics' button at the bottom of the screen. Click the 'Wireless Clients' button for a graph of connected users. If the rate for a connection is 130 or above, it's connecting with 802.11n.
There might be an easier way to check, but that's the only way I have found.

How can I know the Devices using my i Cloud or Apple ID?

This information is not available. If you have any misgivings, change your password at http://appleid.apple.com - it should be at least 8 characters - 12 would be better - of which one must be a capital letter and one a numeral. No punctuations signs, and no real words.

How does one know if they use "java applets"? What do they do? How will I know if I need to 'disable the java web plug-in browser' if I do not use them? (Obviously I'm not very literate in computer-speak.)

Well, when you go to a web page a section of the web page will have a coffee cup picture where the java applet will run. The applet loads then runs. If you are not seeing this behavior then you are not using java. If it make you feel more comfortable then disable the browser java plugin. On my machine I have not disable java- but you
    may what to.

  • Shockwave Player updates, gives 2 options, full or slim - nothing explains the difference How do I know what to use

McAfee program searches for programs that are susceptible to malware and automatically searched for updates and installs them. For some Reason, when it comes to Adobe products it requires myself to have to perform a manual update.
When I followed the link McAfee provides to the Adobe website and follow the steps to install the update....at one point it give you and option of an update that as the word "Full" in the middle of the Update Choice, and the 2nd option is exactly the same except instead of the word "Full", it has the word "Slim".
Nowhere (FAQs, etc) can I find the difference between the two, so how do I know which I need?
I have a Dell Laptop with Windows 8.1 operating system.
8GB Ram  and I think its one of those Quad Drive things
    1 TB Memory
I use Firefox as my internet operating system.
I started with Internet Explorer, but a problem existed that had something to do with that program not being loaded properly initially,
I tried to Get Microsoft Help but they wanted $149 to fix it, So I abandoned use of Internet Explorer and loaded Fire Fox.
I will note, I don't know if its germane or note,  Since switching to Fire Fox,   my system stalls quite frequently and I get a popup that says something about a Flash Program (maybe shockwave flash) and it states it is not responding.  It gives me the option to continue or cancel and a check box to not ask me again.   Though I select that check box I do get asked often.
When this Popup occurs, I can't use any of the internet windows I have open or any of the internet window Tabs I have open.  It also seems to affect the one game I play (Spider) and it stalls that game also.  I sense it has something to do with anything that has pictures on it possibly.  After several minutes 3 to 5 plus it seems to recover
I'm sorry I am not real computer literate
Thank you for any help you can provide
    Keith
PS  All I am trying to do is get hold of Adobe to ask about their program, why I have to do all this registering and go into a Forum or Community (whatever those are) is confusing to me.

The Full version includes all xtras and the Slim version just the bare essentials. I would recommend using the full version as your experience of using the plugin will be more seamless (no pausing while required xtras are downloaded on demand)

  • HT4946 How do I know what is using my iCloud space?

I see that 1.9g of my iCloud I'd being used. How do I know what it represents and how can I manage it?

Settings app > iCloud > Storage and Backup > <device>.
From there you can choose what to back up (apps' data) and see how much each backed up app is using (or would use if you turned it on).
For an average device, 1.9 GB sounds pretty reasonable.

  • How do I know I am using my video credits on iTunes and not money from my account?

I was given 2 video credits for another iTunes inconvience but was not told how to use the video credits when buying my items. If anyone knows how to use the credits before the money on the account I would appreciate it.

Just buy a video and the credits will be used. Generally speaking video credits will be for the particular type of video you had trouble with and usually don't apply to movie purchases.

  • How can I know if the used macbook air I want to buy has been stolen?

    Hi!
I'm looking to buy a used MacBook Air 11 inch - mid 2013. I have the serial number, but I can't find the date of purchase. The seller is not the first owner, he doesn't have the bill or any papers, he doesn't know when the original owner bought it, and he doesn't how to reach him either. When I try to look at the infos on https://selfsolve.apple.com/RegisterProduct.do?productRegister=Y&country=FRA&id= C02M5570F5N7, the site gives me the model and it ask me to confirm de date of purchase. LIke this:
Is it safe to buy this computer or not?
    Thank you!

    I concur with Barry Hemphill.
In the USA, if the property is determined to have been stolen, it must be surrendered by the individual in possession of it with no compensation.
The circumstances you describe are too suspicious.
    Ciao.

  • How does firefox know it should use specific client certificate with a URL?

I am trying to determine how Firefox, or any browser for that matter knows which client SSL certificates it should prompt the user for when an authentication attempt occurs.

Maybe check the Firefox source code.

  • How do I know I am using schema 2?

I just installed JCS2005Q4 Windows on Windows Server 2003.
I selected the "automatically configure" option.
I am now unsure as to the following
1 Am I using schema 2 by default? How can I check? Is there some telltale file or signature?
2 Should I run comm_dssetup.pl after setup completed.
Messaging Server seems to be running fine and the initial users are able to mail eachother. Do I understand it correctly that when selecting "automatically configure" that the comm_dssetup.pl and other scripts are automatically run for me and I am ready to go?

    Did you install Access Manager?
Did you install Delegated Admin? Does it work?
If "yes" to above, you're on schema 2
If your messaging server is up and running, then comm_dssetup.pl was run for you already.
How did you configure 'initial users"?

  • How can I know if a used mobile phone is stolen?

    Hello everybody!
I am about to buy a used Nokia cell phone. The problem is that I want to be sure that the original owner of the phone hasn't stole that product. Simply because I don't want to buy a stolen phone.
So, my question is; is there any database or any way that will allow me to check if this cell phone is stolen or regulary bought.
Thanks for anyone that can help!

As I said, it depends on the country.
In the UK there is an online database of stolen mobiles serial numbers, not sure about elsewhere.
Nice option, will be glad if it starts in other countries like ours.

  • How do I know if one used S10 is refurb?

Just bought one used S10. The S/N (10digit) on the bottom tag is different from the S/N (15 digit) detected by Lenovo automatic detection online. I did find the 15-digit number after I unplugged the battery. Is this suspect or very normal? Thanks.

  • How do i know what im conncted to

I set up a a new airport extreme hoping to take advantage of the wireless "n" technology, however so far i havent noticed any improvements if not a decrease in speed. I was wondering how do i know if im using b,g, or n signals is there a way to check this? If there is how do i get on N?

yes, the disk access is slow but not sure why. In theory G is ~54 Mbit/sec, N is 540 Mbit/sec a 10x fold increase. Apple said it works out to 5x in the real world and some tests I have seen show its coser to 3.5-4.0x faster. USB is supposed to 480 mbit/sec.
When I go into activity monitor it shows my file transfer is about 4.6 MB/sec but I am not sure if that is megabits or Megabytes. If it is the latter then that would equate to about 37 Mbit/sec. If I was working at G speeds this would make sense but at N speeds it would not.
    Am I missing something here?

  • When I login I get a message "aosnotifyd wants to use your confidential information stored in "my name" in your keychain." How do I know if it is safe to allow this? Can anyone advise please?

Every time I login I get the message "aosnotifyd wants to use your confidential information stored in "my name" in your keychain." How do I know if it is safe to allow this? Can anyone advise please?

My immediate reaction is to deny.
Have you downloaded or installed any application that may relate to the abbreviation AOS? It may not necessarily be the application's name, could be the developer or distributor.
As it's occuring at log-in, go to System Preferences > Accounts > your account > Login Items and look for a related item. If there's one there, right-click (or ctrl click) on it and select Reveal in Finder. That will show you where the originator of the item is on your system and should give you more of a clue as to what it is.
I'd remove the item from login items anyway (highlight and click the minus sign at the bottom of the window). There shouldn't be anything trying to use your keychain info to notify anyone.
