How do I know if my iPod is a G5?

This is a very basic and actually silly question but how do I know if my iPod is a 5th generation? I bought it back in February 2006 from the apple store. It has video capabilities but when I tried using the headphone plug to connect with my TV set it didn´t work.

Yes, 5G and 6 G iPod's have Video capability. All others do not. In your case you have a 5G iPod.

I have an IPOD touch version 4.2.1 model PB528LL and found some cool games at Radio shack but it says they are for generation 4 IPOD touch, how do I know what generation IPOD I have?

The second gen iPod has the hard drive capacity (4GB or 6GB) stated on the rear of the case. The icons on the clickwheel are the same colour as the iPod. It wasn't supplied with a power adaptor.
Updating the iPod puts the latest version iPod software on it. However the most recent updater didn't add anything new for the iPod.

I am currently an owner of an Ipod Touch 4th generation, running IOS 6.1.2. I understand you are having problems with your Ipod/Ipad/Iphone, so I will try to find a solution to your problem.
I am pretty sure any of Apple`s products have IOS in them.
If you have Itunes downloaded on your computer, then plug Ipod into computer via USB, go to Itunes, and then click on your device, click on the summary tab. Then click on "Check for new update" (make sure your connected to internet)
I do know, the latest IOS update is 6.1.2
You could also see what IOS update you need to do by: SETTINGS>GENERAL>SOFTWARE UPDATE

Well Apple does not fix iPods so no one really knows how much it would cost; You might want to go to an Apple store and have a Genius look at it and give you another iPod under the warranty or you can send it in for repair at this site http://depot.info.apple.com/iPod/
