How do I know if my laptop is completely up to date, and working efficiently/correctly
A few questions, kind of computer challenged!
1.I am unsure if my laptop is running on the most up to date software. I have a mid-2010 Macbook pro, and it says that I am running on OS X 10.9.2.
2. What are the best Mac Apps I need in order to ensure that my Disks are running properly? After I run a Disk Utility scan, it says that my main disc is corrupted and that I need to hold down command+r in order to use the Recovery HD, I don't know how the **** to do anything hahahaa.

Why and how do I fix this? When I go into cellular data and view account it says my ipad is activated and ready to go. What gives???
It was working fine up until I upgraded the OS which I hadn't done in many versions so the ipad was not working as well as it should. Now it is searching for the network.

Let's get your device working again! It's possible that your device just needs to be reprovisioned on our network. Please go to Settings>General>Reset>Subscriber Services>Reprovision Account. This may take several minutes. After allowing about 5 minutes for completion, please power your iPad off and back on, and test it again. Let us know if this takes care of it!

How do I know if my laptop has been hacked?
I was logged into my Facebook account. My friend started a chat...at least that's what I thought initially. I got suspicious and kept quite. That's when he told me he was a hacker. He will find out about me. Then he started rattling off where I was logged in a while back...where I am now...my telephone number...he said my Mac is with him...all of it....
What does he mean? Is my account hacked? Can he see all my files, etc on my Mac. How do I solve this issue if this is actually true. Please help somebody! This is scary! Mnay thanks in advance!!Hello Matt,
Thank you so much for your advice. I have now re-set all my passwords to be on the safer side. I have also checked System Preference - Sharing. I ddn't have any sharing services on.
My "friend" is my best friend....we were on Skype earlier. Then he said he was going to sleep. He never logs out from all his accounts. An hour later from his Facebook account I received a chat message "y u online". Pretty innocent and I replied surprised why he was online. Below is some of what this person wrote.....

Just a while when my best friend woke up he was surprised to know all this happened last night as I had text him. His account is hacked for sure. The person wrote my Mac is with him. Do you think he could have hacked my account too? How do I know? How can I know?

I left my laptop at the office, which is also my parents' house over the weekend. How can I know if someone else had used it while I was gone? Is there a log somewhere I can read or check?

My phone charges when it's plugged into wall just find, then I try n use cord n plug to laptop to USB port and it's unrecognized. But other thugs worked plugged into USB port so I know it's not the computer. How do I know if it's my phone or the cord itself that is the issue??

How do I know which HP DV5 Pavilion model I have? and do I have Bluetooth, etc...?
I purchased my HP Pavilion DV5 1000 about 5 or 6 months ago. It's a "Class A" refurbished with a
warranty. Anyway I am not clear on what model of DV5 Pavillion it is specifically. How do you find this
out? I looked under control panel>system and it doesn't say anything beyond this If I know this info than I can

I have looked in the control panel and I see that BlueTooth is listed. If it is listed, does that mean that I have Bluetooth?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If you are using Time Machine, open , System Preferences, System, Time Machine.
It will show the status of the backup drive, including the date of the first backup, as well as the most recent.
Checkmarking the 'Show Time Machine status in the menu bar' will allow you to view the latest Time Machine backup by clicking on the icon in the menu bar, without going through System Preferences each time.
Clicking Open Time Machine Preferences... from the menubar takes you to the same Preference screen as shown above.
The first backup will take a while, up to several hours or more, because it is a complete backup of everything on your system. -

I have a manager program which launch several subVI's. I need to know when the user clicks over some of them and the identification (task name) of this task.
You could potentially do this using VI server. You can monitor the Front Panel>>Is Frontmost property for each of your VI to determine if one of them is active. I'm not quite certain what you mean by getting the task name, but it would certainly allow you to know which window is active.

How do I create a permanent backup of all my iTunes data, and movies?
I'm confused about how to effectively backup and share my data. And know others must have wrestled with this one too - so help please!
Our family works across several platforms (PC, MacBookPro, 2 iPads, iPods, 2 iPhones and appleTV) and want to have a method to effectively share and save (i.e. permanently backup) our data (iTunes, other documents and movies). We use HomeSharing, iCloud and iTunes Match, which work most of the time. All the devices are linked to a single iTunes library.
I understand that iCloud serves to synchronise data and share it between devices. Great. But how do I create a permanent backup of the data? I could get a third party online service (e.g. Box.net) or use external harddrives. Is there a simpler approach that apple provides, that I've missed? I'd lke to make teh solution a simple to use (i.e. upload data and share it), reliable without paying the earth!Have you considered this...
