How do i know if my samsung tv is compatible with my macbook pro?

I have an LCD samsung TV, the model is LE40R86BDX
when i connect my macbook pro by mini displayport HDMI adapter on my samsung tv i can't see the monitor of my macbook pro, and tell me : no signal!
help me!!!!

I had a *nightmare* with this! Buying cheap USB adapters to use my phone as a satnav.
I'd highly recormend this product that I picked up from my local Apple store:
http://store.apple.com/uk/product/H0695ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA0Mw
Great stretch, reaches all over my windscreen, actually charges the phone PLUS a nice surprice was that it's stackable. You can plug this in and the top clips open and you can put the cigrette lighter in to it to keep things super tidy.

  • Do i need to reformat a samsung m3 for using with a macbook pro

    Hello
Do i need to reformat a new samsung m3 for using with a macbook pro?
I have an old bipra which i use and i just remember literally plugging it in and going.
    thanks for any info.

I don't know about your particular configuration but usually Disk Utility not recognizing a drive means the drive/card is history.  My G4 running OSX 10.4.11 will format SD cards.
I don't know your model computer. Is this one with a SD slot built in?  If it is, do you have an external reader, or can you try another card in this slot to see if it is a slot problem?

    That's a proprietary interface.
Odds are there is no adapter. Ask Sony.

    Hi Cereskit
Thanks again for the message. I've done the updates and have the App Store on my desktop. I went into it and searched for imovie but couldn't find the basic imovie, which I presume is what I'd need for editing?, rather than imovie 11 for £10.49, which is for making trailers, it seems. Also, were you saying that imovie would be free?

  • How do I know which ssd is compatible with my MacBook Pro..

My MacBook Pro would not boot up. Took it to the Genius Bar and found out that I need a new hard drive.  I want to replace it with a Solid State drive, but how do I know which one is compatible with my particular machine?
    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

On a late 2008 MBP, you want an SSD that can handle Sata 1/2/3 so it can be used in this machine, and can be migrated all the way to a 2012 SATA machine. Machines later than 2012 primarily use PCIe flash and are not considered user-replacable.
I have used a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB in a 2008 MBP. You can look at Crucial, OWC, Intel, Samsung brands.

  • How do I know if i I have a superdrive on my MACBOOK pro?

Silly question I know, but Im just wondering how can i tell if i have a superdrive? It's a MacBook pro 2.16ghz intel duo 2 core...
    -Joey

"Superdrive" is a bit of a misnomer -- really all it means these days is "CD/DVD recorder that's in a Mac", and are produced by a variety of manufacturers and include a wide range of models. To find out the specific capabilities of the drive in your machine, go to the System menu (the Apple logo on the menu bar), click About This Mac, click the More Info... button in the About This Mac window to open System Profiler, then click on ATA in the Hardware section. Make a note of the drive it reports, and Google to see what it actually is.

  • How to upgrade Lr3 & CS5 to be compatible with new Macbook Pro retina screen

I believe that Adobe has recently released upgrades to Lightroom and CS6 that make them compatible with the retina screen.   First of all, is this correct and secondly, if I have Lr3 and CS5, how do I upgrade?   I know it's a dumb question.

  • Is the Dell 3115CN compatible with a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion? If so, how can I install the drivers and install the printer on my mac?

I hace a Macbook Pro running Mountain Lion OS.... I need to print from time to time but don't have a new printer to go with my new macbook. Would a 3115CN work with it or no? If so, how can I set it up? Setting up a printer on a mac is a bit different from doing so on a windows machine and I am new to the macworld.
All help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. I'm running this printer from 10.6 through 10.9 and it's worked fine with all versions. Dell released updated drivers a while ago that make it much easier to administer this printer.

  • How can I get an audio-in connector to work with a MacBook Pro (Mid 2012)?

I have a Plantronics headset with two cables: audio in and audio out (like the two connectors on the old MacBooks). It is pretty old and so I assumed it was for those. I have tried to get it to work with my mid-2012 MacBook Pro, but the microphone (audio in [yes, it does have a picture of a microphone on it]) cable isn't recognized by the Mac. It thinks it is headphones, and unsuccessfully tries to play sound through it. The other cable (audio out), however, successfully receives sound and plays it through.
I hope that makes sense, and I would appreciate any help .

They removed the audio input, starting from your model, you will need an USB interface, there are may, and it depends on how high of quality you need.
This works for most applications, unless you are trying to record "music quality"

A 23" Cinema Display (M8536) will not display with and adapter connected to a MacBook Pro 15" (mid 2010). Adapter used is Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter. What's wrong?

  • How is someone able to pair their Arc Touch Mouse with my Macbook Pro?

I had this happen a few times now and it's both annoying me and scaring me at the same time.  I am sitting in my office working away and then all the sudden, my mouse starts moving around randomly. I quickly go up to the Bluetooth menu, and I see there is an Arc Touch Mouse paired with my computer! It is bold in the menu.  I quickly hit Disconnect on the device and it goes away.  Then a few minutes later, it shows up again and they take control of my mouse.  I opened up the Bluetooth preferences, and I see the device there too.  I removed it from there.  Then a few min later, it happens again!  I finally turned off bluetooth.  Then in the bluetooth preferences, I see 4 Arc Touch Mice that are paired with my computer.  I can't remove them without turning bluetooth.  So I waited a bit and turned it back and removed them.  It's been ok since then for a while now, but HOW IS SOMEONE ABLE TO PAIR THEIR MOUSE WITH MY COMPUTER?  This seems like a HUGE security issue.  What else can someone attach to my computer via bluetooth with no interaction from me?  Please help!
I'm running 10.10.3 on a MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012).  And I use a Magic Trackpad, so I can't just leave bluetooth turned off...
    Andrew

I am not familiar with the third party mouse, so I do not have any idea how that could happen. The devices need to be close (30 feet/10 meters) to your computer. The devices must (somehow) be discoverable to your computer.

  • How do i know if any spying software been installed on my macbook pro ?

I SUSPECT SOMEONE HAS USED MY APPLE ID AND PASSWORD AND THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW MY INFORMATION IS TO HAVE INSTALLED SOME TYPE OF SPYWARE OR SOFTWARE THAT REGISTERS MY ACTIVITY.
    PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU

I know this one sounds obvious but the final  (perhaps the most effective way) solution is to erase your hard drive and reinstall the OS X. I had adwares/ malwares installed after a program forced me to install MacKeeper (one of the obnoxious Mac malwares). Although I removed all suspicious files on Keycahin and Activity Monitor, nothing completely got solved. After reformatting my hard drive, I was able to get my computer back to normal. If you already backed up your computer, try this solution. However, I highly recommend you to go to the nearest Apple store since the Genius Bar can provide better help.

  • How do I know which unpowered USB HDs are compatible with Time Capsule?

    Hi all
I've now tried a couple of different unpowered USB drives in my Time Capsule and been unable to find one that works.
I know that the Airport Utility needs to be configured to configure the Capsule for sharing.  I know that the drive should be formatted as journalled.  I have had HDs work well that are powered independantly.  I know that unpowered drives that draw excessive power would be problematic; althought the drives I've tried draw 2mA which is hardly much.  All of that said, I can only get powered HDs working, and not unpowered.
    Any helpful ideas?
    Much appreciated!
    Thanks and regards
    Daniel

Due to poor design, the Time Capsule power supply has enough of a problem just powering the hard drive and router portion of the product. Adding more load to an overtaxed power supply...which tends to overheat easily....would not be recommended if you want to prolong the life of the Time Capsule.
Pay particular attention to this.. Bob is a smart bloke..
The power supply of the TC is barely adequate.. having repaired 100 or more now.. let me assure you the last thing it needs is more load.
Also note the power consumption of a standard 2.5" drive..
I have several lying arond here.. 40GB fujitsu.. 5v 0.55a
    80GB hitachi.. 5v 1A
    Well those are old drives..
500GB Seagate Momentus 7200.4 which is a standard drive used now in laptops and faster speed.
    5v 0.451A
Sounds great.. just below the 500ma limit.. but download the manual for the drive.
    Table 3:          DC power
    Power dissipation  +5V input average (25° C)
    Spinup (max)  1.0 amps
    Seek   2.2 watts
    Read   2.1 watts
    Write   2.2 watts
    Idle, performance*  1.4 watts
    Idle, active*  1.0 watts
Idle, low power mode*   0.69 watts
    Standby  0.20 watts
    Sleep  0.20 watts
The actual current draw during spinup.. is 1A.. not 0.45 as per the drive label.. that is normal usage not spinup.
Also remember a USB powered hard disk has to power the electronics of the USB to sata adapter.. that might be 2ma.. you quoted.. ie no drive.. but it absolutely is no where near enough.. even in standby or sleep the drive is drawing.. 40ma..
That is from the actual spec sheet.

  • How do I use my iPad as a second screen with my macbook pro?

I've got splashtop streamer for my ipad. In school my computer teacher has two monitors and she is able to drag stuff from one screen to the other. If i was streaming to my ipad, how could i use it as a second screen? and how could I do this with any old monitor?
BTW if you dont know splashtop streamer, it is a software that lets you stream content from a computer or laptop to a wireless device, such as an iPad.

Splashtop only has the ability to mirror your Mac's single screen. It does not let your iPad work as a second screen.
You need an app that is designed to turn your iPad into a real second monitor.
I use Air Display to move all of my pallets to one screen when I am working with my graphics programs on my Mac. I keep my iPad connected to my iMac to keep it charged while I am using my iPad in this manner.
