How do I know what model Power Supply to buy?

I have a 2007 Mac Pro 3Ghz and I was wondering if the power supply I need is just the one for this year or is it determined by something else like my model number or what.
I have really only seen one out there for just like 2006-2007 Mac Pro but there was one that said 8x in the name also for a 2006-2007 and this is an 8-core so maybe that is the right one.
Thanks
I had out the power supply today and I never screwed it back in so I guess it may have a sticker or stamp on it I can check tomorrow. To tired to look now it's 3AM.

I believe this is the want you want:

To be sure I would contact the sales staff indicated in the link. It also lists the EEE code at the bottom of the link in the Notes section which you can compare to your power supply since you already have it out.

  • How do I know if the Power Supply is shot?

Hi, I have G5 with a dual processor, purchased in 2003. I recently bought a new iMac and wanted to give the old G5 to a family member. The G5 just went dead, I think it took it personally.... I have done the resetting of the PMU, I have replaced the lithium battery. Nothing. Is there any way to test the other things to know what's dead? Is the power supply the next logical culprit? I know this computer isn't worth much but I'd like to have it limp along for another year. Any hints or ideas would be appreciated. I have been a huge fan of Discussions but this is my first post. Thank you.

Many moons ago, my previously trouble-free Mac IISI died less than a week after my Power Mac 7600 arrived. Spooky, ain't it?
Hope you were able to resuscitate your G5.

  • How do i know what model is my Satellite M?

I got no idea what my model number is, the site shows there are at least 20 diferent M series, and the Toshiba website is very frustrating that it have no tools or anyway watsooo ever to know my own laptop model.papers long misplaced and now i cannot know what drivers to download!
and to top it all, i searched all the toshiba website for a mail to cantact the support and all what i got was NTH!

    Hi
Sorry but if are not able to identify your notebook why should Toshiba page be frustrating. Toshiba page is not any kind of database but page to offer information about actual notebook models, accessories and upgrade parts.
Every notebook has label at the bottom side. There you can find exact model description, serial number and also model number. Just check this label and you will know everything you want to know.
How you want to contact Toshiba? What you want to write there? Have you anything that belongs to this notebook?
Please do not panic here. There must be some way to identify your notebook. You can also start System Information tool and there will be listed System model.

    Hi Enrique
Its very simple to find it out.
At the bottom of the unit you will find the label which provides all this useful information.
You should also find the number beginning with the PSM.
This number is important to identify your notebook model for example
    for driver download.

  • What kind of Power Supply to buy for my Power Mac G5?

    Hello!
After trying several things, and poking around several forums on the net I have become convinced that my Power Mac G5 needs a new Power Supply.  My big question is how do I know what kind of Power Supply to get for it?
My computer is one of the last of the Power Mac G5's with Motorola chips; it has the dual 2.7 GHz processor core.  I know the install will be tricky, but I feel confident I can do it.
The Apple store doesn't sell these Power Supplies any more, and our other local Apple repair store said they'd have to "match up the serial numbers" in order to find a new Power Supply... but they also wanted to charge me $200.  (I'm a poor high school science teacher and would rather do it myself.)
Any words of wisdom/explanations on how to find the right type of Power Supply for my computer would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you both, Mac Man JW & Old Comm Guy!
My problem has been that the computer won't start at all.  When I press the button on the front panel, I hear the click of a relay (like normal) but then nothing happens... no fans spinning up, no hard drive spinning up... silence.
When I open the side panel and press the button, I can see that the 2 cooling fans twitch just a little bit but they immediately stop.  The only other thing I can see is that the red LED 7 light comes on, and according to everything I've read that light means 'contact an Apple representative.'
This started about 2 weeks ago.  Hadn't had any trouble before then... if there were any warning signs I sure didn't see them.
If you think it might be something else I'm definitely willing to listen!
Did you check the liquid cooling system inside your G5 for leaks? That can make your G5 not start up as well. Look at this link: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac_g5/faq/powermac-g5-liquid-cooling -info-leaks-issues.html

  • How do i know what is downloading in the background of my ipad

How do I know what is downloading in the background. My wi fi is showing something is downloading, but I dont know where to look to see what exactly is downloading.
Also why does my iPad keep looking for wi fi spots when I have already selected and opened my wi fi ?

Check in Settings>iTunes & App Store>Automatic Downloads>Updates>On. If that is set to "On", any apps that require updates are being downloaded in the background. I turned it off on my iPad. Just another way to drain the battery IMO. I can update the apps when I am ready to do so and I can do when the iPad is plugged into power.
