How do I launch my iPhoto photos slideshow?

How do I launch my iPhoto photos slideshow?

Details are necessary to get anything other than wild guesses
What version of iPhoto? Is OS X 10.5.4 as you state correct for your OS? what exactly is your problem - what is not working when you try to launch the slideshow?

How can I transfer my iPhoto photos and iTunes library to my new iMac?

If the Migration Assistant won't do it, move them over as you would any other folder; they're located in the Pictures and Music folders of your home folder by default. The iPhoto library needs to be transferred via a drive, partition, or disk image formatted as Mac OS Extended or through an AFP network share.

How do you eliminate duplicate iphoto photos?

There are two apps, actually one app and one Applescript script, for finding and removing duplicate photos from iPhoto. They are:

  • How can I upload my iPhoto photos to facebook, and not have them automatically publish?

I know how to share my iPhoto photos to Facebook, but it used to be that when I logged on to Facebook, I had to approve the photos being published, and had the opportunity to edit the album and then publish it. How I do this again, and not have it automatically publish?

  • How can I open an iPhoto photo directly from Photoshop Elements 6?

    Hi...
I thought I read here in this forum how to open a photo that's in iPhoto ('09), directly from PSE 6. While in PSE 6, I go to File>Open>Photos(in Finder Sidebar)>then click on photo(s) in iPhoto and click on "Choose".
But when I do this, the "Choose" option remains grayed out! So I can't choose any photos directly from my iPhoto library.
What am I doing wrong, or is this just not possible to do? Or is there another way that doesn't involve first moving my photos out of iPhoto onto my desktop?
    TIA, Deb

Thank you both for your responses! Unfortunately I realized I hadn't explained myself well enough and my question is still unanswered.
I do know how to set my Preferences in iPhoto to edit in an external editing software like PSE. But I like iPhoto '09 for editing so I don't want to do that.
What I use PSE 6 for is digital scrapbooking. So what I'm trying to do is figure out a way to get to my iPhoto library directly from PSE 6 while I'm working in it on a scrapbook layout.
I thought I could just go to File>Open>Media(Finder sidebar)>Photos>, which then opens my iPhoto library, and then from there choose my photos to bring into PSE. But the "Choose" button remains grayed out when I do this, even though I am in my iPhoto library and can click on photos.
I don't understand why? I've discussed this on message boards at digital scrapbooking websites, and none of the Mac users I've discussed this with, can figure it out either. We keep hoping there is an answer to this frustrating dilemma.
What we all do right now as a work around is choose our photos first from iPhoto and move them to the desktop before we even open PSE. Then we can find them easily. But we want to be able to navigate to iPhoto from within PSE and choose our photos that way. Possible??
    Thanks again... Deb

  • How do you get individual iPhoto photos off of Time Machine

I used to be able to open up iPhoto in Time Machine and pull individual photos. This doesn't seem to be the case any more. Any ideas on how I can accomplish this?
    Rick

Your profile says OS 10.5.6. This is the OS 10.8 community.
Please post back to confirm your OS. The difficulty is that the details of the procedure depend on which OS X version you are running.

  • How can I recover deleted iPhoto photos

    Hello,
Just a few weeks ago, I noticed my hard drive was nearly to capacity on my imac, so thanks to the boards here, I moved my entire iPhoto library to an external hard drive.  The move was successful, however, recently I was organizing photos in iPhoto (now on external hard drive) and I inadvertently deleted photos from a recent vacation.  The next day I emptied my iPhoto trash can.  Is there any way I can recover these photos?  I have Time Machine but I believe it doesn't work on the external hard drive, does it?  Please help!

According to this link (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4927), "Time Machine canʼt do a full iPhoto Library backup when iPhoto is open. To ensure that Time Machine does a complete backup of your library, periodically quit iPhoto before backing up."

  • How do I get imported iPhoto photos into iPhone Photostream

I imported a photo into iPhoto.  If I click on it, click actions and share to Photostream, I get a message saying it is already in Photostream.  Yet, it does not show up in the iPhoto Photostream folder on my Mac. Nor does it show up in my iPhone Photostream folder. I believe I have iCloud set up properly on both devices and have configured iPhoto correctly.  What am I missing?  Is there something I can do to force a sync?

    Hi John..
You can force Photo Stream to sync ...
On your Mac open System Preferences > iCloud. Deselect the box next to Photo Stream, then reselect it, then restart your Mac.
On your iPhone tap Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream. Toggle the button off then back on then restart the iPhone.
Restart your device: Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears.  Slide to power off.  After it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.

  • How do I get my iphoto photos off of my failing macbookpro hard drive? I'm connected to an imac via firewire.

My Macbook Pro hard drive is failing and I have it booted off of an iMac. I was able to drag and drop my other files off of the macbook's hard drive and onto the imac, but I can't find my iphoto pictures and the macbook's iPhoto library won't boot via the imac. I did a time machine backup of my macbook a couple of weeks ago, but I recently uploaded some yearbook photos (I'm a teacher) and those are the only copies. Thanks!

Usually the iPhoto Library is in your Pictures folder inside your Home folder (usually that is your name) . The following has more details: iPhoto '11: Move your iPhoto library to a new location

  • How do I access my Iphoto photos on a different Mac. I saved photos from My Macbook Pro and sold it. Now I want to access those pictures on my desktop Mac. Is this possible?

I saved photos from my Macbook Pro and sold it. Now I want to access those pictures from the Macbook Pro on my desktop Mac. Is this possible?

That would depend on where you saved the photos. I assume they are on an external drive or a cd(s) or DVD or USB drive. Hook whatever device they are on to the desktop Mac, open iPhoto and do an Import to Library from the File menu.

  • How many pages can my iphoto photo album be?

My photo album is freezing me out at a certain number of pages.  I think that perhaps I can only have 100 pages per photo album.  My album is not, yet, 100 pages.  But, I am being prevented from adding more pages.  AND, I would like to have more than 100 pages.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    M

Yes, you can have only 100 pages in a book. If you try to add more than 100, you will receive a warning:
If you do not see this warning, and still cannot add pages, you may be trying to insert a page, where it is not possible; you can insert new pages anywhere in a book, except between the outside cover page and the inside cover.. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2448

  • How do I use the same photo twice in a slideshow created in iPhoto'11?

I created a slideshow in iPhoto'11 and would like to use the first slide also as the last slide.
How can I use the same photo twice?

Seems you have to duplicate the photo in your Library to add the same picture twice.

Does anyone know of a good online video instruction on how to put together a photo slideshow in the new iMovie 11 version. I found uTube videos using imported videos, but I want to use photos in iPhoto. I'm very familiar with how to do this in the pervious version, but it's no so intuitive in the new version.

Has anyone tried this one.. I am not sure if I am allowed to post information about other products... so if I am not please delete this part of my message.

  • How do i get my Nikon photos from viewNX 2 into the iPhoto library?

    1. How do I get my Nikon photos from ViewNX 2 into the iPhoto Library?
2.I tried by copying them and moving to the iphoto folder. Now the Iphoto applicationwon't open because it is locked. the help item says to open it with command option keys down to get the iphoto library First aid window. it does not come up.

How did you add the photos to the iPhoto Library folder?  The way to import photos is to drag them onto the iPhoto icon in the Dock or into the open iPhoto window.
    it does not come up.
What does not come up?  What happens when you try to launch iPhoto with those two keys held down?
Try the following again being sure to hold those keys down before launcing iPhoto and until the window opens:
Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
