How do i limit the number of emails displayed in ios 8

I want to limit the amount of emails that are downloaded to my mail app. I can only find instruction for doing this in ios7. I am using ios8. I don't have a “Mail Days to Sync” option.
Any ideas?

You may want to post in the correct forum, this one (AppleWorks) is for a rather old piece of Apple software for a Mac.
Post in the iPhone forum.

  • How do I limit the number of emails displayed in iOS 7?

I prefer to display only 100 emails from each of my mailboxes on my apple devices, but with iOS 7 it's showing all my emails, and there doesn't seem to be an option to limit this in settings as there was previously?

You need to delete your current hotmail account set up on your iphone.
Once this has done click 'Add Account' and select the new 'outlook.com' tab.
Set up your hotmail account again from scratch and this will then allow you to select how many weeks/months of emails you sync to your phone.
Im not sure if anyone else had a similar problem to me prior to iOS 7, but if i deleted an email from my hotmail account on my iphone - it wouldnt sync with my actual hotmail account. So when i logged in online all the emails I had deleted on my phone would still be showing as unread.
But by setting the account up as above, they now sync perfectly.
    Well for me anyway

  • How can I limit the number of emails retained on my ipad air?

How can I limit the number of emails that are retained on my iPad Air?  Because of legal requirements of a long-term project, I cannot permanently delete emails relating to that project from my ISP's mail server.  My gmail account contains over 17,000 emails and, upon setting up my new iPad, and updating to ios 7.1.1, I now have all 17,000+ emails taking up space.  I would like to limit the emails by count as I was able to do on my old iPad running ios 5.1.1 OR to retain them based on date range.  I have not found any instructions on the support discussions or general iPad blogs that allow me to do that.  Any way around this problem?
I also miss the 5.1.1 mail search feature that allowed me to narrow the search by from/to/subject/all.  Does anyone know if that feature is available using some little-known ios 7.1.1 feature?
    Thanks for your help.

If you have a decent mail provider like Microsoft Hotmail or Outlook.com mail it does.
If you have Gmail it does not.  Quite right. Gmail is rubbish.

You can't. Why on earth would you attempt to manage 2500 emails with setting up a folder structure or some means of doing so? Simply keeping them in an single inbox is not realistic, no matter what email client you use.

    Hi,
Unfortunately, this is a feature that Apple have taken away.

How do you limit the number of emails that download in iOS7? In previous versions, I was able to limit (i.e. 50/100/ etc), the number that would download to my phone at any given time - other than new emails. Past/old emails would only be reloaded if I deleted newer ones or I requested more be loaded.

Guy in my thread fixed it for me. Very simple to do.

  • HT201320 How do I limit the number of emails in ios7? On older software I could limit mail to 50 or so.

I have thousands of email in my Verizon account. Now that I've upgraded to ios7, they're all stored on my phone and it keeps locking up. In older versions of the software I could limit the number of emails on my phone. I can't find that setting in ios7. Any ideals?

Thanks, but issue of pain for me is on opposite side, as per thread above:
I do not want so many emails stored on iPad storage.
All I want to be able to limit emails stored to, say, last 3 days.
If older emails are available available only via search on server , I am fine that.
With this change in iOS7 Apple undertook shameless effort to press users to buy more expensive higher strife devices, and for sooner depreciation of previous line of models.

  • How do i limit the number of emails on iphone/ipad

I accumulate far to many emails (now 1500) on my ipad2 and 150 on my 3gs.  How can I change the settings to limit the number in the future?

I don't know why the mail app is downloading all of these messages on your iPad, but try a couple of other basic steps.
Quit the mail app and restart your iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Tap anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
You can try resetting the iPad as well.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Maybe even deleting the email account and adding it back on would be helpful if you want to try that.

  • Has anyone figured out how to limit the number of emails displayed in the mail app?

There used to be a setting in Mail, Calendar, Contacts that would let you set the number, starting with 50 emails.  I can't find this setting in iOS 7.

I do not know why one cannot use an artboard
in Illustrator it looks like this
In Photoshop it looks like this
As far as I can determine it has cropped the area properly as before, please explain what is missing?

Since I have upgraded my phone to ios7 my phone doesn't display as many emails as it used to. How do I change the settings so that my phone retains more messages?

You cannot change that, it is not user programmable. That is handled by your carrier, and it is not based on the number of rings, it is based on time. Call your carrier and see if they can extend the time for you. They may not be able to do this.
