How do I load a custom colour profile in bridge CC to sync colour settings across whole suite?

How do I load a custom colour profile in bridge CC to sync colour settings across whole suite? I can't seem to load the colour profile sitting on my server within settings as I would have done in CS5. Need to crack this asap as magazine going to press!

  • How do I get a custom color profile into a PDF?

I have a client who provided a custom color profile for a CMYK file.
I worked on Photoshop CS5.1 images and made sure the profile is embedded.
I placed these Photoshop images into an Illustrator CS5.1 template and made sure the profile is embedded.
I need to create a hires PDF with the Press Quality settings from the Illustrator file.
I have been doing a Save As to PDF from Illustrator, which seems to work.
OK, that's when my troubles start.... When I go into Acrobat Pro X v10.0.0 nothing indicates my profile is there.
I even have the profile loaded into Acrobat.
The client seems to want the Paper Simulation to show their profile, but the profile does not even come up in the list when I look for it. It seems to default to RGB even though this is a CMYK file.
I messed this up once already, and I need to get it right this time.
The client is in Germany and they sound very angry when they don't get the proper files.
    Help!

  • Same colour profile, but different users have different colour output!

Installed Snow Leopard on a new Mac mini. Migrated two users from a Leopard install, made one fresh user.
Sticking with the default profile for my monitor (HP 2159m), the freshly-made user matches the colour at the login window. The two migrated users, despite having the same profile selected, show darker colour than this. What gives?!
Tried the guest account, and that matched the login window too. Can only assume this is a preferences issue or something, but having deleted some likely-looking plists (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ColorSyncCalibrator.plist, ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ColorSyncUtility.plist and some .GlobalPreferences files in ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/), nothing has changed. These two users still have odd colour.
You can watch it change. The new user will stay the same from the login window while the Finder loads, but for the migrated users the colour noticeably darkens immediately after the login window disappears. I'll reiterate: System Preferences claims they've all got the same profile selected.
    Any ideas?

In case anyone else finds this, I discovered the root of my problem.
The users with the odd, inconsistent colour profiles had got "Increase Contrast" turned on in Universal Access. Both only slightly, both by the same amount. Highly suspicious, as I know these different users had not changed this setting. Wonder if it's a migration problem. Anyway, colour is now consistent.

  • How do I load/use custom patterns on Elements 11?

I have beent trying to follow the instructions found at the URL below (second half of the video) in order to load custom patterns onto Elements 11. The video says I need to go to C:/ drive, then Users, then my folder, then AppData, then Adobe, then Photoshop Elements, Roaming, and Preset(s). • How do I delete a custom print profile?

Just updated to CS6 and am setting up custom profiles for our printer. There is one that I would like to delete, but for the life of me cannot find out how to do so. Help, please!

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding your question, because if I got you right the answer is indeed very simple:
To change the custom settings just do so with the appropriate bars displayed in Energy Saver. To change the default back to one of the three provided settings (Better Energy Savings, Normal or Better Performance), click one of those choices under "Optimization" on the Energy Saver Preferences, and do so for both Battery and Power Adapter under "Settings for", just above.
Hope that's what you wanted--sorry if I got you wrong!

  • How do I load an Adobe PDF preset into Bridge?

With InDesign I go to File>Adobe PDF Presets>Define>Load. I would like to do the same thing in Bridge so that I am using a PDF preset that I choose instead of the default PDF preset that is in Bridge. I need to know that the PDFs generated from Bridge and InDesign are being generated with the same PDF preset. I am using Bridge CS5.5 on a Mac. Thanks.

I don't think you can do this… Bridge generates it's *.pdf files using the cached *.jpeg previews… Try with some vector files and you will see the result is nothing like ID… If you want them to be the same standard then use ID to make the contact sheets…

  • Colour Profile Bug in CS4 32 bpc Mode?

This has been confirmed on both Mac and PC by different users
(this topic was confirmed on another list before posting here).
One may be working on an image that has a different colour profile
than set as default in colour settings. For example, colour settings
has Adobe RGB while the current document is in ProPhoto RGB. If the
ProPhoto RGB (16 bpc) file is taken to 32 bpc mode, the status message
reports that the file is in a modified linear space based on the input
profile. One may then perform USM, for example and then return to 16
    bpc or 8 bpc mode.
Here is the bug: Once the ProPhoto RGB file is returned to 16 or 8
bpc, it now has the working RGB space tagged of Adobe RGB, rather than
the original ProPhoto RGB as input before 32 bpc conversion. This is
not just a tagging issue, the numbers have been converted to working
RGB rather than the input ICC that was tagged to the image prior to
    entering 32 bpc mode.
ICC tagged image operations have been divorced from colour settings
since version 6, the document can reside in a space that is
independent of colour settings. I can't recall other operations that
change the files colour space and tag without user intention.
If using 32 bpc edits, to preserve the input space, one either has to
change their colour settings to match the document or convert the
    document to working RGB.
So why this reversion to working RGB and not the document RGB - bug or
design feature/limitation? Did CS3 work this way, is it only my
    version of CS4?
I have searched the help notes, this forum and other Adobe support docs,
however I could not find this issue documented.
    Sincerely,
    Stephen Marsh

Can anyone post a supporting argument for the current behaviour (design or bug). While in 32 bpc Photoshop "knows" what the original profile is (it is listed as being in a linear state), while on default conversion to lower bit depth the data is converted to working RGB, rather than the document RGB prior to conversion (if different to working RGB). Am I missing something - is this a good thing, should this be behaviour be changed?
    OK, topic drift it is!
Buko/progress, it is not so much bit depth in this case, it is gamma encoding - or lack thereof. 32 bpc mode processes in linear gamma, which can have an effect on some operations for certain receptive image content (tonal moves, USM, interpolation etc).
As one example, some links to linear resampling can be found in the comments at this blog:
    http://forensicphotoshop.blogspot.com/2008/11/resize-smaller-part-2.html
I prefer the 32 bpc route to linear processing rather than the alternative, which is 16 bpc and a hacked custom RGB profile set to gamma 1.0.
I don't like linear USM for output sharpening (nasty dark halo artifacts). However, for subtle capture/acquisition sharpening linear USM may be preferred for certain images. I generally sharpen with blend if sliders limiting the intensity of the light halo, which comes close to one aspect of linear sharpening (light halo reduction). This can also be achieved by blending the USM in two separate layers, set to darken and lighten blending with reduced opacity.
While on USM and gamma, there are some L* based RGB working spaces such as L*RGB or the new ECI RGB which behave the same way as Lab mode Lightness channel sharpening (when set to Luminosity blend). As the response of the Lightness channel is different to linear gamma and standard gamma encoded spaces, for some image content one may be preferred over the other as the processing space.
I would still like to explore the original topic/post before submitting a bug report. How do you think things should work?
    Regards,
    Stephen Marsh

  • Do I need to set AI colour profiles for use in ID?

    My previous set up:
    Mac
    CS2 (Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge)
    Quark XPress 7
    My new set up:
    PC (Win 7)
    CS5 (Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge, InDesign)
    My problem:
I work for a company that prints newspapers, but my dept also does work for glossy sheetfed printers (magazines leaflets etc)
All my work is exclusively CMYK.
With my previous set up - I didn’t want to have to switch my colour profiles via Bridge as I was constantly juggling two types of jobs:
Our tabloid press - Profile - ISOnewspaper26v4 (CMYK)
Sheetfed Printers - Profile - ISO Coated V2 (Fogra 39) (CMYK)
So I set my CS2 Suite colour settings to  ISO Coated V2 (Fogra 39) and set an action in Photoshop to convert jpegs / eps photos to ISOnewspaper26v4.
So my CS2 working space was set for Sheetfed glossy publications and if I wanted to set a picture to the correct profile for newsprint I just had to open the picture and hit the action that applied the ISOnewspaper26v4 profile.
Regarding Quark – I set up separate templates for each type of job:
One for Profile - ISO Coated V2 (Fogra 39) and one for - Profile - ISOnewspaper26v4.
Regarding Illustrator - I found that Quark 7 didn’t differentiate between Illustrator colour profiles, or if it did, it didn’t show up in ‘Usage’.
If I went to Quark Usage and went to ‘Profiles’ it only listed the Quark profile and any Photoshop profiles, not any Illustrator profiles.
So in Illustrator I just set colour profiles to ‘do not colour manage this document’. So that I only had to worry about changing profiles for Photoshop jpegs / eps’s.
So I had a good little system going that served me well and now my company decided to move us to PC’s and CS5; and I still have the same problem – juggling newsprint jobs and glossy magazine jobs and not wanting to have to synchronise my CS suite colour settings every time I switch between jobs...
So I was hoping to stick with my little system on PC / CS5.
So basically my question is, do I need to worry about Illustrator colour profiles if I am bringing Illustrator files into InDesign? (To clarify, my Illustrator files are always pure vector, so there is no chance of some rogue RGB jpeg sneaking through on a Illustrator file)
Im open to suggestions regarding my set up, but really would prefer not to have to keep switching my colour profiles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, I wasn't suggesting that your PDFs be exported to RGB, but it is a common workflow these days to keep photos in RGB until you convert them to the correct profile during the export process. This maximizes the potential for re-purposing your documents and allows you to use the same RGB photos for different output purposes without having to do separate CMYK conversions for each destination, so long as you don't need to do any tweaking after the conversion.
And to answer your question, if the .ai files have no embedded color profile they will ALWAYS be considered to use whatever the CMYK working space is in your ID file, so the numbers will be preserved. This means that there will be slight differences in color on output on different devices (the whole point of color management, after all, is to preserve the appearance of colors by altering the numbers for the output device).
Does the vector work you get from Thinstock come with an embedded profile? Is there any color that is critical for matching, such as a corporate color (which should be spot, but that's a different discussion), or do you use the same art in both the newspaper and magazine, and does the client expect a match (which we know isn't going to happen anyway)?
If there's no embedded profile when you start, there's no way to know what the color was supposed to look like, so color management is not possible, really. You can assign a profile, but you'd be guessing. Since the correct appearance at that point is unknown continuing with out color management shouldn't present a problem. The only case where you would need to manage the vector art would be if the color APPEARANCE is critical or you need it to match across different outputs, and in that case you would need to assign a profile and allow ID to preserve the profile on import and remap the numbers, which means you would likely get rich blacks someplace. Since it's unlikely that you can get a good match going from glossy to newsprint, I probably wouldn't even try -- you wouldn't want, for example, to tag the art as newsprint, and have it print subdued on the gloss if it would look better or more correct with the other profile. Color management would be much more useful if you were going from sheetfed to web on the same stock.

  • How do I load a music cd into iMac?

I have a new iMac (first time). I have an iPad and iPhone. I am at work and hoping to load my iTunes with stuff. Firstly how do I transfer stuff from my phone or iPad? and secondly how do I load a cd directly to the iMac?

The sync is one way - computer to ipod/iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
To put a cd on your computer.  Turn on computer, open itunes, insert cd, import cd.

  • Native Colour Profile for OS X

Does anyone know of a colour profile I can use in OS X lion that passes through the raw RGB values to the monitor like Windows does? None of the colour profiles that come with Lion, Adobe's suite or my monitor pass through the native RGB values of what's on-screen. For an example of what I mean by native colour profile, if I set the RGB colour value #45f4d3 in Photoshop or in CSS for a web page, I want the value #45f4d3 sent to my monitor, rather than some slight offset of that.
In other words, I want a colour profile that mimicks colour profiles being turned off completely (which I don't believe is possible under OS X; I will never understand why).
    Thanks,
    Tom

It has absolutely nothing to do with whether my monitor is calibrated or not. I want the RGB values encoded in my non-colour managed images and in my website stylesheets to be sent to the monitor as they are, without being altered by a colour profile.
To see what I mean yourself, go to the following web page: http://html-color-codes.info/#insertcolor (you can use any website colour picker, as long as it displayed RGB values and is driven by CSS).
In the colour picker, choose a colour, then launch the "DigitalColor Meter" app that comes with OS X and set the drop-down to "Display native colors". Compare the RGB values reported by the colour picker on the website with those reported by the digital color meter. If they're different (which I'm betting they are) then that's the problem I'm trying to resolve.
My end goal is simply to make the colour of my Mac be the exact same as it is on Windows, which basically means I want my Mac to pass the raw/native colour values to my monitor. Seeing as though I can't simply turn colour profiles off, I need a dumb colour profile that emulates this.

  • Colour Profile / Farbprofil

Problem with getting colour profile in bridge cs4 (windows).
i put the profile ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc in the folder user name/appdata/roaming/adobe/colo/settings. then i want to choose this in bridge to use it in all my cs4-applications but the profile doesn't show up in the box strg+shift+k. when klicking on "show saved profils" the profile is there but it doesn't show up on the list where i can choose the profiles.
    any ideas??

    Shouldn't it be in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color ?

  • How do I find/load more standard camera profiles than "Adobe Standard"

I have reloaded Lightroom 3.3 several times.  Still the only camera profile I have available is Adobe Standard.  I would like to have access to profiles like Camera Standard and Camera Vivid.  How can I load and/or get these to show up?

    MDButler17 wrote:
I expect that with some of the profiles are camara specific, but is there a reason I can't see more of the generic profiles (e.g., Camera Vivid)?
generic and profiles are two words that just can't go to together, a complete oxymoron I am afraid. Profiles are specific to a device that has been profiled, in this case the colour reproduction of a camera sensor. Adobe profiles every camera it supports, this is the profile called Adobe Standard for you camera. On some cameras Adobe also produce other calibrations, these often mirror the names used by the camera manufacturers to describe their own profiles. Most camera manufacturers do not actually produce more than one profile themselves, instead they produce a choice of different colour interpretations that can be applied only to the in camera jpgs. In these case Adobe don't usually produce anything other than the Adobe Standard.
You can, of course, make your own calibration profiles specific to your actual cameras sensor (sensors themselves varies so even the profiles supplied by the manufacturers and Adobe may not actually match your sensor. The tools and instructions on how to do this are supplied free by Adobe here.
If your camera has profiles other than the stand,  it will be located
    On Mac OS X: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles
    On Windows 2000 / XP:  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Support\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
    On Windows Vista/7:  C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles

  • Customized User Profiles not loading for Network Users

I manage Macs in public computer labs and classrooms at a university. My general set up is as follows:
Clients are running 10.8.5, OD Masters are running 10.7.5. Open Directory Master to manage client preferences for Login window and screen saver. Clients bind to Active Directory for authentication purposes only. Networked users home directories are stored locally then deleted at log out. Using Deploy Studio to image and restore clients.
My customized user profiles are stored in /User Templates/Non_Localized.lproj.(I also update English.lproj for any local users that may need to be created for various reasons).
Recently I have come across a situation where, randomly, my customized user profile does not load at Login, and I am given the out-of-the-box default Apple profile. This is happening in 11 of my 14 labs. I have three labs that seem to not be affected by this.
On some labs I manage the DHCP, some labs I do not, and rely on our Networking group to supply DHCP and DNS. Because of this setup I have six different DNS server that may be in the mix. Two are Unix boxes, the other four are the Active Directory Domain Control servers. I did create a spreadsheet of all the AD/OD settings for each lab to see if I could find some kind of pattern, but don't see a way to upload it.
The one thing I do notice is that when I do a mass login using a shell script via Apple Remote Desktop, when the profile fails to build correctly, the user login is quick, much quicker than when the correct profile loads. Almost as if a packet is sent the the OD server, it's rejected, and bam, Apple's default profile loads.
I have flushed the DNS cache of the local clients using killall --HUP mDNSResponder
I've got one week to figure this out before classes start, so if you have a clue as to what's going on, I sure would be grateful.
Here are logs from both the admin's account and the user's account when the default profile fails to build:
