How do I load an upgrade version of elements 11 to a new PC.

I have upgraded from Win XP to 8.1 by buying a new machine. I have a valid copy of elements 11 on DVD. This was upgraded from elements 8 which was downloaded and those files have been lost. Windows 8.1 will not read the DVD.
How can I get PSE11 onto the new machine?

Please download Acrobat 10 from : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-x-10-pro-reader-suite-direct-download-links-ddl.ht ml and use the serial number you have to activate it.
Since you own an upgrade serial number, make sure you have the older base version serial number too as the installer will prompt you to enter both the serial numbers to validate before activating.

However, it may still not work, since some scanners are not compatible with the 64-bit PSE 12. Epsons have the most problems, unfortunately.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

I am not sure this is going to work. For one thing, the preferences file is in a different place in Mountain Lion. It is at: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail/Data/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.pli st. I wouldn't try to move the .plist file, I'd be very surprised if it would work.
I would do a different approach and start with just recreating the mail account(s) you have on the new machine from scratch and let them download your mail from the server. Then if there were e-mails not on the server any more, but stored in the black macbook, I'd copy them from the mailboxes folder, from the old machine to the new. I'm not sure where they are in 10.5.8, but in ML they are at ~/Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes.
At each stage along the way I'd do a backup, so in case it screws things up, you can revert to a functional Mail.app.

I couldn't get more info from Laishram as to WHY is wasn't a "valid upgrade path" and I don't know what "not a valid upgrade path" means but, i'm guessing that i did something wrong when purchasing CS2. I was told that i could use the upgrade version(of CS5) that i purchased (to upgrade FROM CS2 to CS5) to upgrade to CS 6. So I'll have to do that I reckon.

I have a Mid-2011 iMac running 10.7 right now. I partitioned the boot drive, creating a new space so I could load up 10.6 (in an effort to be able to play my older Diablo II and Warcraft games) but my retail CD version is not working. I did some research, and found that this is because my hardware is incompatible with the oldest versions of 10.6. What I am confused about, when reading through threads, is how can I get around this? Is there a way I can load up a newer version of 10.6 (like 10.6.3 or newer) onto this partition? Do I need an older Mac to do this (right now both my laptop and iMac are running 10.7 but I could always borrow my Mom's laptop for a bit since she is running 10.6.x)? Since I have a legal version of 10.6 I assume there is a way to do this, but I am not sure how to approach. I'm pretty knowledgeable with computers & technology, so I just need a general outline to get me started.
Any help from the community would be wonderful. Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. I'm not looking to replace my current operating system, because I primarily need to work out of 10.7. I just need the older version (basically dual boot, choose which operating system I want at startup) to occassionally play the games that are not supported in 10.7. Actually, I had heard of lots of people doing this but the responses were all over the place and I was hoping to get a concise thought of what will work for my specific scenario.
Unfortunately borrowing my mother's computer is not an option as she lives miles from me and I would never know when I have the time or want to play. Anyone who has played Diablo or Warcraft can sympathize, my mom would never see her computer again if I needed it to play these games.

I might try the external drive scenario, but was just hoping to be able to dual boot into 10.6 directly with the hard drive(s) in the computer because my USB and firewire ports are all taken with lots of other equipment (I'm a graphic/web designer so have 2 printers, wacom tablet, external backup, 2 large die cut machines and so much more already plugged in). I'm pretty tapped out on ports without using a hub and I don't like the way they work (too many years in technology knowing that direct connect is the best way to go).

Relatedly, I when I went to check my registrations on the Adobe Web site, it only shows my registered copies of CS4, LR1 and LR2. It no longer shows my registrations of PS version 6, CS, Photoshop Elements version 1 or PSE version 2. How can I get all of those registrations 'restored'?

The CS4 installer just requires a qualifying serial, not the original install files, so that's less of a worry.

They are certainly there, but may not exist in a format that allows them to be pulled live from a database. Creating a support case and requesting them by mail should bring them up.

Only if it has its own license. Technically it can be put on two computers, but they are suppose to belong to you and only one copy can run at a time.
If you have the money, your son may like the student version of photoshop or photoshop elements. Especially if he is just learning.
