Calling Functions of Loading DLL using java
I have a dll file
I know the functions which are ther in the dll
But how to call those functions using JAVA ?
can anyone tell me how to do the same...
Thanx in advance
regards,
RiteshI assume that you have a regular DLL and that the functions in that DLL are exported and that you know the signatures of each function.
With that in mind, you will need to use the Java Native Interface (JNI), to call those functions from Java. In a nutshell, you will need to create at least one class which declares some native methods, code a class static code block to load the JNI-DLL you are about to create, compile the class(es), run the javah tool supplied with the JDK which will emit a C compatible header file, implement the functions from the generated header file and compile that source file to into a DLL. It would be in this DLL that you would use the functions in the DLL that you ultimately want to access. So, what you wind up doing is creating a wrapper DLL.
Take a look at the JNI tutorial trail from Sun at http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/native1.1/index.html. -

JNI. (No.)

How to print PDF files using java print API
Hi,
I was goign throw lot of discusion and reading lot of forums related to print pdf files using java api. but nothing seems to be working for me. Can any one tell me how to print pdf files using java api.
Thanks in advanceMike,
Can't seem to get hold of the example described in your reply below. If you could let us have the URL to get then it would be great.
My GUI application creates a pdf document which I need to print. I want to achieve this using the standard Java class PrinterJob (no 3rd party APIs I'm afraid, commercial restraints etc ..). I had a stab at it using the following code. When executed I get the pretty printer dialog then when I click ok to print, nothing happens!
boolean showPrintDialog=true;
PrinterJob printJob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob ();
printJob.setJobName ("Contract.pdf");
try {
if (showPrintDialog) {
if (printJob.printDialog()) {
printJob.print();
else
printJob.print ();
} catch (Exception PrintException) {
PrintException.printStackTrace();
Thank you and a happy new year.
Cheers,

How to access NTFS entries using Java
I want to access and read the attributes of a file stored in the Master File Table of NTFS.
How should I do it using Java. Is using native code and using JNI the only way or is there a package in Java that supports this?
ThanksWebSphere Application Server has a bunch environmental variables such as log locations. These are held at the "server", "node", and "cell" level.
To access them, you have to get the right context. Something like this, I believe...
InitialContext initialContext = new InitialContext();
initialContext.lookup("foo:bar/baz/blah"); //correct context hereGo to the IBM website for WAS and do a search on namespace bindings. That should give you some more information.
Good luck. -
How to develop discussion forums using java
Hi, can any one kindly explain how to develop disccussion forums using java.
the application is like same as this forum. one post and the replies are come after that. creating new threads.
any tutuorial is available for this. what is best dabase for this. and which application server is required.if you want to use a forum for sum purpose download an opensource forum software and deploy it in a server that support the serverside technology that it uses.
If you dont want to go through the trouble of installing the the forum software (normally there is a quaita bit of configuration to do). Goole for Free Forum Hosting and you will get plenty of places that hosts forums for you. Since they do the installation you dont have to wory about that part.
If you really want to develop a forum software first install an existing open source forum or get an account in a free forum hoster and take good look at the forum software and the features that it provides.
In here you only see the front end of the forum. The back end is much more complicated. You have to define forums and forum groups, you have to define user groups, you have to define which users has access to which forums. who can start topics and who can reply to topics and whgo has read only access. And how to clollect and stor statistics like number of posts by each user. And the list goes on...
So first take a look at the features in both front and back end of an existing forum software and decide what you want in your software. Then you can design the database to support those features. And then start coding.
Technicaly you will need to know how to do servlets/JSP and JDBC in order to build a forum. Most important part is you have to do lots of planing.
