I have 3 profiles in firefox (using firefox profile manager) .I want to lock access to only my profile with a specific password and keep others unlocked.(like childlock in google chrome)

You can't do that reliably in Firefox.
If you would use an extension then holding down the Shift key to start in Safe Mode is sufficient to bypass the password.
Best is to use a separate Windows user or guest account and protect your Windows account with a password.

Reset Password using Recovery HD
Boot into Recovery Partition.
Start the computer,then press and hold down command and R keys to start into recovery partition.
When you see the Apple logo, release the keys.
Wait until OS X Utilities window shows up.
Move the mouse to the menubar at the top and click "Utilities", then select "Terminal"
from the drop down.
Terminal window will appear.
Type in resetpassword and press enter on the keyboard.
Leave the Terminal window open.
Reset Password Utility window will open with Macintosh HD selected.
Select the user account from the popup menu box.
Enter a new password.
Reenter the new password for the user.
Enter a hint.
Click the "Save" button.
Click  in the menubar and select Restart.

Having several different Firefox profiles, clicking a link in another application (for instance,a link in Thunderbird,or in a email message,generally speaking) brings up the profile manager:is there a way to bypass it and force all links to open with a specific Firefox version\profile?

A way to do that is to edit the registry and add the -p "profile" switch to those protocol links. There is however no guarantee that such a change stays after an update and Firefox may complain.<br />
Another way is not to use the profile manager, but select the profile for the default browser once in the PM to set the profile for the default browser, so that profile is marked as Default=1 in profiles.ini. Then place a checkmark in the box to never ask and use a desktop shortcut to start each Firefox version with its own profile, so you do not have to use the PM as that would set another profile with Default=1

How can I share the same Firefox profiles / settings among multiple users on Windows XP?

I am installing Firefox on Windows XP and have imported all settings, add-ons, etc, from a previous installation.
I did the installation under the Admin account, but I would like to have the same settings and everything else available to some of the other users on the machine (but not all). How can I do this?

I understand what is in and where the profiles are, but my issue is that I want Firefox to let me use the same profile whether, for example, I am logged onto the XP system as "Admin" or "User1" I do not want to share the same profile for all users of the machine, just specific users, and I do not want to have to duplicate all of the information that is in the profile in each of the specific user's Application Data settings folders under XP (C:\Documents and Settings\USER-NAME\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[profile-name]) for the user's in question.
Am I making sense here?

How can I lock access to Firefox so that only I can fo on the internet and not other users of my computer?

I have a computer which I let several other people use, but I don't want them to have access to the internet. I would like to see if there is a "lock" choice so that no one else can access the internet - or another means? I've tried to select "Lock" to the whole computer (when it gives you the "lock," "shut down," "sleep," etc. choices - and it says the computer is locked but the next time I try it it opens the computer (and internet) just like it never was "locked" so I don't even know how to effectively lock the whole computer either as a second option to block access ot the internet!

I had the same problem (issue with Google Apps and XUL runner etc) of needing to downgrade. To pull it off I went to the main Firefox download page (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/) and followed the link to OTHER SYSTEMS AND LANGUAGES which took me to a page that included a link on the right hand side to download Firefox 3.6.16.
(The stuff below pertains to Windows. If you are on a different OS your steps will vary)
To do the actual downgrade (and there may be some other steps that would be wise to take but this is what worked for me) I merely renamed "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" to "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox bad" (in case I want to try troubleshooting the issue later) and then ran the "Firefox Setup 3.6.16.exe" file that downloaded from that link. That solved my problem and I'm back and running 3.6.16.
In case you don't feel comfortable changing things in your Program Files directory you might try a different approach and try uninstalling via the Control Panel and Add and Remove Programs (or whatever it is called on the version of Windows you are on) and then running the installation file. I didn't go that route so I can't tell you how well that might work.

How can I restore auto-saved firefox profile after a troubleshooting reset?

Tried to find a problem opening webpage; went to firefox help>troubleshooting; clicked on "reset"; determined there _is_ a problem with some add-on; tried to restore original profile saved as "Old Firefox Data"; tried to use "Profile Manager" via "Terminal," (per instructions on Mozilla webpage "...profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles") but "Terminal" says "no such file." Thanks, jscher. The problem - I believe - is that the "profile" folder name is "xxx.default." I think if I were to simply copy/paste the old data contents into the .default folder, the next time I tried the "reset to default" button - well, who knows what would happen?! I've already tried deleting the "xxx.default" file and just leaving the "Old Firefox Date" folder in the "Profiles," but on restart, the "xxx.default" makes its appearance again, ignoring the other folder. A "pointer" has been set somewhere! I suspect that's why Terminal needs to be used, to reset/rename that "pointer." Unfortunately, Terminal seems not to be able to "find" the "profiles" memory, and I don't know enough about Terminal to bash around looking for it! Aaaarrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!

I have enrolled for iOS enterprise distribution and created distribution certificate and App-id with wild card (e.g. com.companyname.*) from the portal (not from the xcode).
When I am trying to create the in house distribution provisional profile from portal, it is not listing the App-id with wild card. I can only create the profile with explicit App-id. I checked with other enterprise account but they are able to create such profiles.
How can I get in-house distribution profile linked with wild card App-id?

How to create a persistent network manager profile with openvpn?

After installing networkmanager and openvpn everything works fine except that the networkmanager profile is not persistent and nm creates and selects a new profile with every boot. I followed Persistent configuration on boot using systemd which creates a persistent profile and cuts out the creation of a new profile, but when I build a openvpn connection it won't change the i.p. any longer. I've been searching for a week, read and learned a lot, but without a solution.
My main question is what's creating and selecting a new network profile after booting? I've 2 fresh installations of Arch and Archbang on 2 pc's and with both the same issue/problem.
