How do I lock in Firefox to English only?

I live in Japan but cannot read kanji, therefore most of the time am not heading for the pages in Japanese that open up via Firefox after using a search engine. This occurs nine times out of ten. I'm tired of playing hunt and peck trying to find the mystery buttons for the pages' sister sites in English, i.e., (not translated pages). There does not seem to be a tool for this. Am I not looking in the correct places? Otherwise, I'm crazy about how zippy Firefox in its latest evolution is. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on this year's Hp desktop in the 4400 series.

Sorry, the answer is NO.
If you don't trust the person, I would suggest sending small (say 320x240 pixel) QuickTime movies - she will be able to view the content without being able to use it for anything else.
You should have QuickTime Pro to do this. Do you have it?

I do not wish to remove other browsers eg. Internet Explorer (needed for some Government sites) and Chrome (Quick access to GMail).
Sorry Firefox but I still do want to remove AVG. on the homepage. I prefer the old Google Page.
I will have to stop using Firefox if you go on being obstructive about removing AVG.
Remember ' the customer is always right'.

How can I lock access to Firefox so that only I can fo on the internet and not other users of my computer?

I have a computer which I let several other people use, but I don't want them to have access to the internet. I would like to see if there is a "lock" choice so that no one else can access the internet - or another means? I've tried to select "Lock" to the whole computer (when it gives you the "lock," "shut down," "sleep," etc. choices - and it says the computer is locked but the next time I try it it opens the computer (and internet) just like it never was "locked" so I don't even know how to effectively lock the whole computer either as a second option to block access ot the internet!

I had the same problem (issue with Google Apps and XUL runner etc) of needing to downgrade. To pull it off I went to the main Firefox download page (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/new/) and followed the link to OTHER SYSTEMS AND LANGUAGES which took me to a page that included a link on the right hand side to download Firefox 3.6.16.
(The stuff below pertains to Windows. If you are on a different OS your steps will vary)
To do the actual downgrade (and there may be some other steps that would be wise to take but this is what worked for me) I merely renamed "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox" to "c:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox bad" (in case I want to try troubleshooting the issue later) and then ran the "Firefox Setup 3.6.16.exe" file that downloaded from that link. That solved my problem and I'm back and running 3.6.16.
In case you don't feel comfortable changing things in your Program Files directory you might try a different approach and try uninstalling via the Control Panel and Add and Remove Programs (or whatever it is called on the version of Windows you are on) and then running the installation file. I didn't go that route so I can't tell you how well that might work.

I take it you man the default Firefox home page which is a branded version of the Google search page. You can change the home page to http://www.google.com/ncr which will never re-direct to another language. See [[how to set the home page]] for details.

Until now, I was impressed about the skills of Firefox, but now I am disapointed. Why it is so complicated to change the language? I am romanian but I am not familiarized with the romanian translations of the softs , I prefere english on my desktop. I think this is a negative mark for Firefox and if you want to be in top, you must correct this.

Make sure that you do not start Firefox maximized.
You can check that in the Properties of the (desktop) shortcut.
Firefox should reopen with the window size with which it was closed the previous time.

Thank you. I was having the same problem (registration was in English and then the Chinese screen appeared). Reseting the iPad solved this problem for me.
I unplugged the iPad from the computer and then held down the menu and wake button at the same time until the unit reset (the screen goes black and then the white apple logo reappears). I plugged the iPad back into the computer and the screen was in English.
If anyone is curious about the screen before I reset here is what it said:

It locks automatically when you hold it to your head.
If it fails to do this, then remove the case and see if it solves it.
If it does not, then do the basics - restart, reset, restore.
