How do i lock one folder with a password? just one folder individually.

thanks

The Finder does not let you revoke both read and write permission from yourself, but you can revoke read permission from the GUI. Otherwise you have to use Terminal.
Get Info on your folder
Under sharing and permissions change privilege to "No Access" for Group & Everyone (probably labeled "Staff" & "Everyone"). Change the permission to Write Only for "Me".
Click the lock to prevent changes.
Now nobody can view the contents of that folder without your account password.
To open the folder get info again, click the lock in the lower right corner, enter your password then change the "Me" permission to Read & Write.

    Secure your wireless.
Log on to your router and click on wireless tab.  Change the ssid to something other than Linksys example: Newfie.  Click on Save.  Now click on wireless Security.  Set Security mode to WPA Personal.  Set Algorimths to AES. Set passphrase in WPA Share key Examble 1a2b3c4d.
Now go to the computer with a wireless adaptor.  Click on view wireless network  You will see your network.  Example Newfie Secured network click on your network.  It will asks for the key use the passphrase you setup in your router.

  • How do we lock a folder in documents so it opens with password?

How de we lock a folder in documents so it can only be open with a password?

The short answer is, you don't. Your account belongs to you and is passworded. In theory if you want to keep things secure you log out or shut down. Or in the Security tab of System Preferences set the computer to require a password after waking up and put the computer to sleep.
However I understand that sometimes the most convenient thing is to password a folder - which we cannot do. But what we can do is create an encrypted disk image using Disk Utility (it is in the Utilities folder). It may not be quite as convenient as a passworded folder but it works quite nicely.

You can't. All you can do is create an encrypted disk image, mount it, and copy the archive to it.

Only if that capability is built into the app itself (and it isn't in the case of iOs native apps).

By default, Disk Utility has the "Add to Keychain" setting checked on.
You have to make a new image and turn this funtion off if you want to make sure the video stays private on your computer.
If you send the video to another computer, the user will have to enter the password.

  • How to re-lock a drive with bitlocker

I am using windows 7 bitlocker to encrypt a secondary hard drive. So I unlock the drive with the password successfully. Now how do I relock the drive? The only way I can see is to restart the machine. What bothers me is that even if you log off, and log in as another user the drive is still unlocked! Isnt there a menu item or option to re-lock it?-mi

    I made a .cmd-file to re-lock the drives:
From a cmd-prompt, type the following:
    C:\Windows\system32>copy con lockdrive.cmd
    manage-bde -lock l:
    manage-bde -lock k:
    ^Z     [press CTRL-Z]
            1 file(s) copied.
Replace l: and/or k: to the corresponding drive letter on your computer.
Make a shortcut to the lockdrive.cmd-file, and check the "run as administrator" check box.
    Rgs,
    Inge
That works great, thank you. Some points to clarify for those of us not so advanced in computing. Just to point out I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with UAC turned off. I'm
not sure if this will work in other versions or with UAC on, I think so but perhaps someone will confirm this.
To turn off UAC, go to control panel, select 'User Accounts' then your account name, 'Change user account control settings' and select 'Never notify' and reboot. Next navigate
to 'Control panel / Folder options', click the 'View' tab and move the radio button to 'Show hidden files, folders and drives', then uncheck the 'Hide extensions for known file types' box, Apply, OK and close Control panel.
    1. It is easier to go to your windows folder, find the System32 folder, put your mouse cursor on it, hold the shift key, right click and select 'Open command prompt here'. That
way when the DOS window opens you only need to type "copy con lockdrive.cmd" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
    2. Type "manage-bde -lock #:" again without the quotes and replace the "#" with the letter of your bitlocker drive as Inge stated. If you have another drive to lock then repeat
this line with your other drive letter and press Enter.
    3. Hold 'Ctrl' on your keyboard and press the 'Z' key once, '^Z' will be displayed, press Enter on your keyboard and '1 file(s) copied' will be displayed.
    4. Type "exit" (no quotes) to close the DOS window.
    5. Navigate into this folder 'C:\Windows\System32' and look for the file 'lockdrive.cmd', right click it and select 'create shortcut' a new file called 'lockdrive.cmd shortcut'
will appear below it. Right click the shortcut file and select 'Cut'.
    6. Navigate to 'C:\Users\*YOUR USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs' right click in a blank area of the window where your Accessories and Administrive
Tools are (being sure not to highlight one of the other files) and select 'Paste'.
    7. Right click the ''lockdrive.cmd shortcut' and select 'Rename' and just call it 'Lockdrive.cmd' and press Enter, then close all windows.
    8. Click 'Start', select 'All Programs' and look for your 'lockdrive.cmd' file. Put your mouse on it, left click and hold the button down. Drag it down to the 'Back' selection which
was 'All Programs' and wait for the first Start Menu to appear, move your mouse up to a blank area and release the button. If done correctly you should now have 'lockfile.cmd' on your main Start menu. Click it to lock your drive.
    9. Navigate to 'Control panel / Folder options' and on the 'General' tab select 'Restore Defaults' and Apply. Select the 'View' tab and select 'Restore Defaults' and Apply.
    Click 'OK' and you’re done.
Thanks to Inge for this short and perfect work-around.

  • Last update locked my ipad with a password - how do I unlock without restoring?

My iPad was plugged in - NOT password protected, because I do not have children and my iPad stays at home.  Picked it up to use it yesterday and it is requiring a passcode, which I never set!  VERY frustrated with the security "FEATURES" of the last update.  On another frustrated note...Do not like that I cannot use the same passcode on my iphone either - it required a change and is "helping me" so I don't have a security breach, but it is taking away my rights as a consumer to have the same passcode for YEARS if I really wanted it!  Explain to me how I would teach my MIL with a brain injury to keep changing her passcode too???  Seriously - we should be able to turn this OFF!

I understand your frustration and your anger due to the fact the the update caused this situation, but unfortunately there is no way to bypass the Passcode without restoring the device.
If you are that diligent about the way that you use the iPad, I have to assume that you have a current backup as you should. After you restore the iPad, you should be able to restore from the backup becuse the backup should not contain the passcode, if in fact the update did cause this situation. After you restore from the backup and sync with iTunes - if you use iTunes - your iPad should be pretty much back to where it was.
I am not sure what you are talking about by not being able to use the same Passcode on your phone.

Take a look to the class CL_ABAP_GZIP
    open (top-)zip-archive

    add sub-zip-archive to top-zip-archive
    CALL METHOD lo_zip->add

  • How do I lock a folder in place on the desktop

On my desktop I have 1 folder that contain completed projects as well as multiple folders to manage current projects I'm working on. Occassionally I also have files on the desktop that I am working on for the day. Whenever I arrange by name (or any other criteria) the files and folders on my desktop move all around. My completed folder is now mixed in with files I'm working on and my current projects folders are all over the placed depending on what I named them.
I would like a way to pin certain folders to their place on the desktop (similar to how the hard drive icon is pinned), so when I arrange the desktop files by a certain criteria these "pinned" folders would not move.
**PLEASE KEEP YOUR DESKTOP EFFICIENCY TIPS TO YOURSELF. THAT IS NOT THE QUESTION I'M ASKING HERE.**

Take a look at Desktop Icon Manager (DIM).  There has been problems of one form or another with the desktop since the days of OS9.  DIM, also in one form or another, has been around since then to try to address these problems.

  • FW CS6 on Mac: how can I lock the docks with the canvas?

I like the way all of my docs migrate from screen to screen all together when I use Dreamweaver and I seem to recall Fireworks CS5 on a PC behaved the same way. I use a MacBook Pro with an extra display at home and at work and would really like all of my panels, tool, and properties palettes to remain attached to the canvas—unless I undock a set of functions.
Here's what I found in the Help section:
Note: Dreamweaver does not support docking and undocking Document windows. Use the Document window’s Minimize button to create floating windows (Windows), or choose Window > Tile Vertically to create side-by-side Document windows. Search “Tile Vertically” in Dreamweaver Help for more information on this topic. The workflow is slightly different for Macintosh users.
But... where IS that info for Macs?
    Anyone else have a workaround?
    Thanks!

Yeah, I think part of what you're noticing is the difference in UI between Adobe applications on Mac versus Windows. Macs have traditionally had the floating window approach, which allows for visualization and interaction with elements beneath—like the Desktop or other applications—whereas Windows have a more integrated, full-screen UI. I haven't used a Windows OS in a while, but I remember how jarring it was having first learned Dreamweaver on Windows, and then using that same app on the Mac.
I believe the Application Frame feature may have been developed to address that difference. Here's the excerpt from "Workspace basics" describing the feature:
The Application frame groups all the workspace elements in a single, integrated window that lets you treat the application as a single unit. When you move or resize the Application frame or any of its elements, all the elements within it respond to each other so none overlap. Panels don’t disappear when you switch applications or when you accidentally click out of the application. If you work with two or more applications, you can position each application side by side on the screen or on multiple monitors.
If you are using a Mac and prefer the traditional, free-form user interface, you can turn off the Application frame. In Adobe Illustrator®, for example, select Window > Application Frame to toggle it on or off. (In Flash, the Application frame is on permanently for Mac, and Dreamweaver for Mac does not use an Application frame.)
So is this solution working for you? I cannot think of any other way to dock all the panels and windows as a single unit.

i Would like to know how to lock my apps because I have things written down that I don't want anyone reading. Preferably how to lock the notes app. by the way iam running iOS 8.0.2 has below it says the wrong update am running.

No, you can't prevent people from trying to guess the code. However, it will take longer between each attempt, i.e. it will be disabled for 1 minute, 15, an hour... so it would take him a while to completely disable it.

Why can't you tell them that? Personally, I would never had over my iPad to someone who I suspected would snoop. And, if someone did, you can be sure I'd never let them touch it again.
