How do I make a custom interface 'block'?

Hi all,
I'm usually interfacing a lot of sensors via compactDAQ modules. I've made some subVis to handle tasks such as applying calibration data or filtering to their signals. These calibration data typically need to be set up or changed on the fly, so defining all of the sensor calibrations in NI MAX would be rather painful (as far as I can tell).
My calibration subVis typically have a few controls (a table, some bools etc) whose interface I would like to define once and for all so it could be plopped down in a single action, instead of having to create new controls for every input of the subVIs, all of which have to be moved and organized. It  would be highly preferable if this could result in a single block in the block diagram, with multiple outputs...

Hi P@Anand.
I'm looking for the best practice for making a set of controls that interface with a subVI.
I have a customised subVI which I intend to re-use in many applications. What I want is to create a set of front panel controls  that I can also re-use.
I've been researching a bit on my own since posting my question, and am now looking into using a cluster for this purpose. This means passing a cluster to a subVI which I understand has its own challenges.. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    your right.. i ment acrobat pro :-)
    my problem is that i use the PDF printer to export CAD drawings as PDF´s.
    As it is now, there are some pre-defined page sizes in the print settings, and i know i can add custom pages manually one at a time.
    What i want is to copy the list of my danish standard page sizes, and use them on my other versions of acrobat.
    Its like 70 different sizes, and i have them made manually on my current computer, but i hope its possible to copy the list to other computers.
    Maby its some script where i can define the sizes, and then copy to another computer. Im just not that much of a computer genius :-)
    Hope i got through this without to many spelling mistakes...

    We do agree with your assessment and have plans to improve all of these aspects. Unfortunately, it takes a long time and a lot of work to turn "working" software into "simple to use" software, but we are working on it, and it is a high priority for us to make it simpler to use and develop for and administer Coherence.

  • How do i make a customer service complaint.

    How do I make a complaint about a webchat operator phoning my home number to tell me off after I had filled in a survay about him. He was really rude and its really creepy to have him phone my home number to tell me off.
    There is no customer complaint no. I can find or option on any of the menus in the automated call.
    Bt must have a duty to provide a customer complaints department.
    Anyone I get through to on BT tell me they can't find it in their database. I have just been told by a BT operative to look it up in the yellow pages.

  • How do I make a custom brush image in a gradient color scheme in Photoshop Elements 12?

    I want to make a custom brush image in a gradient color scheme.  I know how to change the hue jitter, but I want to "paint" the image with a gradient between two colors.  For example, I have an image of an octopus that I have used to create a custom brush.  I want the top of the octopus to be hot pink and gradually fade into a deep orange at the end of the tentacles.  Everything I've looked up just colors the background.  Thanks in advance!

    Try the following:
    Open the octopus image
    Open a Gradient Map Adjustment layer above this. There are several preset gradients, but in my version of the program I don't see one with pink to orange.
    When you double click on the gradient bar in the Adjustments palette, this will open up the Gradient Editor, where you can tailor the gradient to your specifications with color and opacity stops. (see below)
    This will apply the gradient to the entire picture. However, the adjustment layer has a built-in mask (the white rectangle).
    Left click on this and paint with a black brush to hide the gradient outside of the octopus. If you go too far, you can correct with a white brush.
    Now, as to the Gradient map adjustment layer, here is how to configure it:

  • How do you make a custom button that is Invisible When not selected

    Im just recently switching over to using a mac for authoring. I really like all the features in DVD Studio more than what i was using on a PC for the past 6 years. Which was ulead DVD Workshop 2.
    The only problem im having (For Now) is that i cant make my custom buttons invisible. I made this little black shape thing in photoshop and i want to use it in DVDSP for selecting different tracks.
    I thought all i had to do was just save the black shape with a transparent background in photoshop as a .psd and import it. But that didnt work.
    When i change episodes it just stays black the whole time. I want something that will be invisible when it is not selected.
    please help
    I can send someone my little shape if they can make it a usable button that i can make invisible in dvdsp. I really need to see the layers done with a shape as a button to see how they were able to make it invisible.
    i tried a few tutorials but instead of being invisible all i got was a shape that was stuck white the whole time. this is even when i put the opacity to 0 on normal.
    I want to make this into a button
    http://img694.imageshack.us/i/custonbutton.png/

    Ok, what you want to do is also in the same tutorial. See the section on "Advanced Highlights" (again, avoid the sections on layered menus), You can create an overlay that does have two colors. The bad news is that there will be absolutely no anti-aliasing at all. This means your graphic will be extremely pixelated. This is just the way the DVD specs are set up, so there is no way around it.
    Given that I would highly recommend redesigning your overlay. Take a look at variety of DVDs from Hollywood. See what they are doing in their menus. You can do anything they are doing, but you will notice that the overlay is very simple because of the limited anti-aliasing of DVDs. In all the years that I've been watching DVDs I've only see one DVD use two colors in the overlay, and that was the Jim Carey "The Grinch who Stole Christmas."

  • How can I make a custom component focusable?

    Hi all,
    I'm using a custom made component that consists of a JLabel
    and a JTextField. I want to make this component focusable,
    and when it's in focus I want the JTextField to have the
    focus so that the user can start typing immediately.
    I've looked at the java tutorial
    (http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/misc/focus.html#focusable).
    When my component gets the focus I request the focus to the
    JTextField. The problem is: whenever i check if my custom
    component has the focus, it hasn't because JTextField has it
    (the focus, i mean :-) ) Which isn't strange i think, but
    how can i solve this problem?

    I want to make this component focusable, and when it's in focus I want the JTextField to have the focus
    The problem is: whenever i check if my custom component has the focus, it hasn't because JTextField has it (the focus, i mean :-) So whats the problem the textField has focus as desired.
    You don't need to make the containing panel focusable in order for the text field to receive focus. The FocusManager is smart enough to place focus on the first focusable component contained in the panel. If you make the panel focusable then you will need to use the tab key twice, once to move focus to the panel and a second time to move focus to the text field.

  • How do I make a custom page size in Acrobat X pro?

    I downloaded a gigantic trial version of Acrobat X pro to create a full PDF book cover. I was
    unable to figure out how to make the program do anything at all. The help file and forums did
    not give me the information I needed. Eventually I was able to use 4 other programs in
    combination to create a .doc version of the cover but now I need to turn it into a PDF.
    Can somebody please tell me how to, or how to find out how to, create a custom page size in
    Acrobat X Pro and import a Word document into that page size.
    Alternatively perhaps someone could tell me where I can download an earlier, hopefully more
    usable, version of Acrobat.

    As you have discovered, Acrobat is not a creation or editing tool. It is a program to create a final archive of a document from another application that is readable on most platforms. There have been several tools added to Acrobat to provide more functionality for forms and such, but it was never intended for the creation process.
    Now that you have created your cover in WORD, an appropriate place to create it, you would simply print the page to the Adobe PDF printer. You should change the printer in WORD before the conversion and check the page to be sure that it is still what you wanted. This check is needed for versions prior to OFFICE 2007 that used printer metrics by default. Since OFFICE 2007, printer metrics have been turned off by default.
    If the page does not come out correctly (like is 8.5X11 letter or an A-4 page), then enter the printer properties before printing and set a custom page size there to match your WORD document. I assume the WORD document has the desired size. The printer property change is like putting the correct paper in the printer before printing. Sometimes it seems to sense the application setting, and yet at other times is seems to need to be set.

  • How can I make a custom widget--JSlider2D?

    Hello
    I need to control two values x and y on a GUI. I am using two perpendicular JSliders to do that, but it looks ugly and is hard to use. I dreamed of makeing a 2D Slider(!) which basically would be a square of a circle with a nub in the middle. User can replace the nub and programmer gets back getValueX(), getValueY(), etc. Could someone please tell me how (or whether) I could do that?
    Thanks a lot,
    Mehrdad

    Just create a component that does that. You can extend JComponent and make your own paintComponent() method to paint however you want your component to look like.
    You might also add a custom MouseMotionListener to your component and in its mouseDragged() method you can update the x and y values.
    If you plan to use a layout manager that takes the components' preferred size into consideration you should make your component return a suitable value in its getPreferresSize() method.

  • How can I make a custom style look the same in both printed and online?

    My specs:
    RH 9.0.2.271
    Windows 7, 64-bit
    Word 2010
    The Background Info:
    So I created some custom css styles to try and mimic the look of a message box in our documentation. Here's the css code:
    .MsgBox {
        color: #000000;
        border-left-style: Solid;
        border-right-style: Solid;
        border-top-style: Solid;
        border-bottom-style: Solid;
        font-size: 10pt;
        background-color: #eeeeee;
        border-left-width: 4px;
        border-right-width: 4px;
        border-top-width: 4px;
        border-bottom-width: 4px;
        border-left-color: #cdcdcd;
        border-right-color: #cdcdcd;
        border-top-color: #cdcdcd;
        border-bottom-color: #cdcdcd;
        width: 350px;
        padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
        box-shadow: 10px 10px 5px #888888;
        margin-bottom: 7pt;
    .MsgBoxTitle {
        color: #000000;
        border-left-style: Solid;
        border-right-style: Solid;
        border-top-style: Solid;
        border-bottom-style: Solid;
        font-size: 10pt;
        background-color: #cdcdcd;
        border-left-width: 4px;
        border-right-width: 4px;
        border-top-width: 4px;
        border-bottom-width: 0px;
        border-top-color: #cdcdcd;
        border-bottom-color: #cdcdcd;
        border-left-color: #cdcdcd;
        border-right-color: #cdcdcd;
        width: 350px;
        padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
        box-shadow: 10px 10px 5px #888888;
    My HTML Code:
    <div class="MsgBoxTitle">
        PC-DMIS MESSAGE:
    </div>
    <div class="MsgBox">
        <p>Please do the following steps in the indicated order.</p>
        <p>1. Remove the current SH-1/2/3 stylus.</p>
        <p>2. Attach the SHSP (Stylus Holder Setting Piece).</p>
        <p>3. Jog the probe to a safe location with a clear line of approach
         to the port(s) being calibrated. </p>
        <p>4. Then click OK.</p>
        <p>After you click OK the machine will begin DCC measurement.</p>
    </div>
    The Expected Output:
    Here's how it renders in a browser (the title is MsgBoxTitle, the body is the MsgBox style). I'm happy with how it looks there, even if the box shadow doesn't always display:
    The Ugly Printed Output:
    And here's what it looks like in the printed output.
    Ugly. Are there any tricks to get the printable (doc) output to match the online? Ideally, on the printed output, I'd like to have all the white space in my pseudo message box removed so it looks just like the online.

    Hi Peter. Thanks for the reply.
    I assumed that if I used the project style sheet during the export, Word would convert the style so that it looked the same as in the HTML. Is that a bad assumption? I'm currently not mapping to any template equivalent for these message box styles. I did try it as one of my attempts, but I couldn't figure it out. It never seemed to take the style in the .dot.
    Anyway, if I use just 1 style, such as just the MsgBox, I obviously don't get the white paragraph between the title and message. That white paragraph comes from the first <p> tag in the MsgBox style. But I need to have the <p> tags in there because they're better for our localization process than line breaks.
    I did do some tweaks that made it look better. Basically I structured it so that the MsgBoxTitle div is now inside the MsgBox div. Something like this:
    <div class="MsgBox">
        <div class="MsgBoxTitle">PC-DMIS MESSAGE: </div>
        <p>Please do the following steps in the indicated order.</p>
        <p>1. Remove the current SH-1/2/3 stylus.</p>
        <p>2. Attach the SHSP (Stylus Holder Setting Piece).</p>
        <p>3. Jog the probe to a safe location with a clear line of approach
         to the port(s) being calibrated.</p>
        <p>4. Then click OK.</p>
        <p>After you click OK the machine will begin DCC measurement.</p>
    </div>
    And then I adjusted my styles borders, padding, and thickness. That helped it look more connected, but still doesn't look quite right:
    Would love to get rid of that white space after the title.
    If you have time, I would be interested in a more detailed example of how you did it.

  • How do I make a custom Forward button and Back button?

    I've got an almost completely custom theme and it's working great with one exception: The forward and back buttons (used to move between menu pages) are from the original theme I based mine on, and they are now white on white = invisible.
    I tried showing package contents and completely replacing the two images in the Forward button folder, but when I return to iDVD and reapply the theme, there is no change.
    Thanks,
    ck

    A further note: They seem to be the one button type that you can't select. Even in editing (non-preview) mode, if you click on them, they route you to the appropriate page. So there's no way (apparently) to select them and change their color.
    In case you're curious how I saw them to click them, I just took some lucky guesses. They appear while pressed on, and they also appear if you cursor to them in Preview mode using arrow keys or the virtual-remote window.

  • How do I make a custom shape using Javascript?

    I would like to create a trapezoid shape and be able to color it in, just like I'm able to do with the PathItems (e.g. rectangle, ellipse). I would like to be able to do this in Javascript.
    I was thinking it might have to do with PathPoints, but Adobe's Scripting Reference Guide does not make it clear.
    If anyone could give me some quick sample code on how to do this, I'd be much appreciative. Or just a description would be great.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

    Something like this?
    // TrapezPathCreate.jsx
    // http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1307731
    // regards pixxxelschubser
    var aDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var aPath = aDoc.pathItems.add();
    aPath.name = "Trapez";
    // create pairs of coordinates for every anchor point
    aPath.setEntirePath(Array([0,0],[50,100],[200,100],[400,0],[0,0]));
    aPath.close = true;
    aPath.filled= true;
    aPath.stroked= false;
    var itemColor = new CMYKColor();
    itemColor.cyan = 0;
    itemColor.magenta = 100;
    itemColor.yellow = 100;
    itemColor.black = 0;
    aPath.fillColor = itemColor;
    alert("done");
    or this?
    var aDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var Rect = aDoc.pathItems.rectangle(0, 0, 400, 400, false);
    Rect.stroked = true;
    Rect.filled = false;
