How do I make a different Mail account the default for sending new messages?

I have several email accounts in Mail. When I go to Preferences> Accounts I see them. The account on top of the list is the default one for sending mail. I want one of the lower ones instead. Can I select this or move it to the top position (if that is what gives it priority)?

Open Mail as usual and, at the sidebar, press the arrow next to "Inbox", so all your email accounts will show up under it. Simply hold the Command key and drag the email account you want to use by default to the first position. This will make it the default mail account to send emails

Open mail then mail-preference-composing and in the middle "Send new messages from" use the drop down menu to choose your prefered account.

I have two different e-mail accounts set up on my iphone. I want to be able to use the e-mail view that includes messages from all accounts/inboxes. When I am in that view and create a new message, my iphone will automatically select one of my accounts. It is unfortunately not the one I most often want to use. No I don't have that option. I can see the corresponding option for calendars so I understand where it should be - but it isn't there. It's as if the account set up by mobileiron is disregarded and the system only thinks I have one account. But still - the mobileiron account is listed right there....
If there isn't a simple solution that I had missed I guess this looks to be a bug, right? How would I report such....?

How do I make it so there is no vibration for a new message while in iMessage conversation

Hello all. I have an iPhone 5 and was experiencing battery problems. I reset all settings and this appears to have fixed the problem. However I am missing some of my old settings and I am wondering how to get them back. I can't quite remember (terrible I know, is there an app for that?) but I swear that before I reset when I was in an iMessage window (like looking at the screen, I could see people writing, there name at the top, you know what I mean)....and I got a message it wouldn't vibrate. Which I liked becuase I didnt need to be notified of something I was looking at. However if I had the phone locked or on an different app or something it would still vibrate. Do you understand?
Now it either always vibrates (locked, on facebook, or looking at the message window) or doesnt (if i turn vibration on)
I should note that this in in silent mode, or mute mode, whatever it is callled when you move that switch over.
I want to get it so it vibrates only when I am not in the imessage window, when I can see someone is typing and then a new message is sent from them I don't need to be notified.

Well if your on 10.5.8 like your signature says, then you have bigger problems to worry about.
10.5 isn't supported anymore, so you might as well attempt data recovery (if you dont' have a backup) and call Apple via phone for the 10.6.3 white retail disk.

At any point, I'll maybe have access to only 1/15th of the actual DNG's in my catalog because they're offline, so keeping full sized previews of archived files is extremely important for my workflow.

I use icloud email but (2 email accounts univ and icloud) and i need to have all my outgoing emails come "from" my university account, not my icloud. So how do i do that, note checking the default box for sending new messages only applies to new messages

I am using icloud email but i also have a university account. All my email is fowarded to my icloud account and what i need to do is make sure all of my email that i ship is from my university account and not from my icloud account. I know there is a box that allows the default for all new emails to originate from one account but how do i make sure that all my replies to email (i.e. they have been fowarded from university account to icloud) now go from my university account. please help anyone.

Sorry for the delayed response, yes i want to use my university account when replying to all emails. Note i just discovered something, when i forward my university email to my icloud account and than responded from either my imac of my macbook air (i.e. in icloud) it automatically goes to my university account in the "from" space (good news!!!). That is just what i wanted, . While that is the good news, the bad news is that my iphone and ipad still treat this email as being from icloud even though it is forwarded (redirected) from my university account. That is when i respond to an email (or for that matter create a new email in my icloud account) it automatically lists the icloud account as the "from" account and i have to go in and manually modify it. So i am 50% there to solving my problem (i.e. actually did nothing the systems just worked well) but i still need to figure out a way to make this happen on my ipad and iphone. Any help or suggestions, note the default button in the iphone and ipad for email work differently than the default in the composition menu of the imac or macair.

You can't - the iPad is essentially a single-user device. You could try providing feedback here to see if it makes it into a future iOS release http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html - you aren't the first person to enquire about this, and it's possibe that the more people who request it the more likely it is to appear.

This type of service is offered by IMAP email accounts such as the me address that is associated with your iCloud account.
Are you saying it isn't working or are you trying to add a third party address (ie gmail, yahoo etc etc) to your mail account and expecting it to work like an IMAP account.

I first accessed my iTunes account using my wife's laptop. I then bought my own laptop and began using that for my iTunes account, so I am fine. However, I bought her an iPod which is effectively redundant because she can't seem to access her iTunes account using her own laptop - it just defaults to my iTunes account. I have tried de-authorising etc, and have even uninstalled and re-installed iTunes on her laptop to try to change the default settings, but none of this has worked. I can't believe it is that difficult to do this. She now has an iTunes account and an iPod which she doesn't use.
All I need to do is switch the default iTunes account for her laptop form mine to hers. Pls can anyone help? Thks

i'm not quiet sure atm but should normally work like this:
connect to itunes store -> log out with ur account (upper right corner where ur apple id is displayed) -> sign in with ur wifes apple id -> activate computer (store->activate this computer)
normally it should work this way but ur wife wont be able to use apps or music within itunes library purchased with the other apple id

How do I permanently STOP the Bing Suggested Sites icon from being in the IE 9 toolbar for everyone and make it the default for all new users

Non of the other post on this subject were correctly answered and they are now old so here is a new thread for a question that a Microsoft Engineer should have answered a long time ago in one of the other threads.
I have IE 9 installed.
I am setting up my default profile which will be used for ALL users to configure their profile when they log on. All profiles are destroyed on system reboot. All PCs are frozen.
Every time I log in as a new user and open IE 9, the favorites bar shows up as I want it with NO BING Suggested Site crapware in site. Then about .5 secs after IE starts and the Favorites bar is shown, the EVIL "Bing Suggested Sites" button appears.
I can delete it and it seems to stay away until I delete the users profile folder etc and have them log in again. When the profile is recreated the Favorites folder does not have a "Suggested Sites" option in the c:\users\username\favorites\links"
folder. (I have deleted the hidden .ini files in the default folder) Nor does one exist in the "c:\users\default\favorites\links" folder from which the newly created user profile folder comes. But as soon as I start IE 9, one is created and placed
in the users favorites links folder. This MUST STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is UNACCEPTABLE. AND IT MUST BE STOPPED!!!!! Where in the Windows 7 x64 Enterprise OS is the location of this evil action and how do I PERMANENTLY delete it.

With my default profile IE does not ask how you want to set it up, I have already made those decisions. I have made all those decisions for my users. But as of recently I have started installing IE 9 and now this unacceptable BING Suggested Sites junk ware
keeps showing up. HOW DO I STOP IT. Do I have to put a line in my HOSTS file to send all request for Bing.com to 127.0.0.1 just to make sure that it can't be used. There by removing all possibility of my users ever being able to use Bing FOREVER.
I would rather not do that but unless a Microsoft representative will tell me how to keep that useless Bing Suggested Sites button from appearing on the Favorites tool bar I will have to. I would love to let my user decide if they want to use Bing and waist

How do i make my own wireless connection the default

Everytime my mb goes to sleep mode and then wakes up it reconnects to one of the other wireless networks in range instead of my own. Is there a way to make it to were my connection is the default?
Also is there a way to make it to where the macbook doesn't sleep or anything when i close the lid, so that i can keep downloading or whatever but have the lid closed?

Try this: Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network. Click on the advanced button. In the list of preferred networks, drag your network to the top of the list if it isn't there already.
You can keep your Macbook from going to sleep by adjusting the Energy Saver settings: Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Energy Saver. At the top of the pane, select either Battery or Power Adapter settings. Underneath "Put the computer to sleep when it is inactive for:" there is a slider; slide the blue dot all the way right to "Never."

How to make PS CC -- not CC2014 -- the default for 'Edit in' in Lr?

When I installed Ps CC2014 I had problems with it, and so uninstalled it. I might reinstall it in order to get familiar with it. But until certain panels have been converted to work in CC2014, CC will remain my 'go to' pixel editor. With that in mind, I would want Ps CC to remain the default version of Ps when I select 'Edit in' in Lr 5.5. However during the brief time I had CC 2014 installed, CC2014 replaced CC (which was still installed on my computer) as the version that Lr passed images to when I selected 'Edit in'. Is there some way that Lr can be 'made' to think CC is the version it should pass files to even if CC2014 is also installed on my computer?

That's what I was afraid of, hence I have removed CC2014 from my computer. There are a couple of panels I use which won't work in CC2014, hence I would continue to use CC in any event. But if both are installed and CC2014 is the default, then to use CC as an external editor, I would have to render the image, who I not?

With this new itunes I see you can download old song from other p.cs if they are listed in your itunes with a could next to them. How do I make it so I see the songs on my new itunes on a different computer?

When I first downloaded itunes 11 I saw all my old song that are on another computer listed in my itunes list on my laptop with a little cloud with an arrow in it next to the songs from my old itunes. When I updated to 11.1 the cloud icon stayed in the top part of the itunes list where you can click name, artist, all that to organize you itunes list but the songs from my old account were gone. I can't remember how, but some how I tuned the songs back on, if you will and all my old songs repaired with the clouds next to them. Well my boyfriend has the cloud smiple in his organize list thing, but no songs from his old itunes list of a different computer like me and he wants those songs back. I have been trying for hours to re-watch the itunes and icloud tutorials but because of my slow wi-fi I can't get the videos to load and they keep freezing my itunes so I can't even shut it down without restarting my laptop, so I need some help on remebering how to make the old songs show up in his itunes. Can anyone please help? By the way we both have Windows 7.

If you go to settings>music there should be a setting to show all music. Turn that off, and the cloud purchases should disappear. You may need to restart the phone to take efect
