How do I make a hands free call with the iphone 4s? I have a bluetooth car device and when I try to talk through it (as I did with my old phone) to call someone it does not work. so far only hte last person called is redialed.
That is a carrier-based service. So first you have to make sure your service contract includes that feature.
It usually also includes Call Hold. So you call the first party, put them on hold, call the second, then reactivate the first. But only if your carrier allows you to.

Why can't I record calls with the iPhone? Every other mobile can! That's quite pitty ...!Nonsense. There are many places where you are not allowed to take photos or video but those functions are included. Apple assumes no responsibility for them. Apple would not be responsible for managing the recordings on the phone either. It's most likely because Apple is located in California and in THAT particular state, both parties have to be informed of the recording. Most states do not require that. If Apple were located in another state (e.g. Alaska) there would be no restriction.
All the apps that record calls store those recordings in their servers and charge you a fee. It would be preferable to have the calls stored only on the phone so no one else could access them. The iPhone has the technological capability; we have just been restricted from having this functionality without paying a 3rd party. -

Making a call with the iphone headphones
I know that you can answer calls through your headphones that came with the iphone but is it possible to make a call through it using the microphone and saying a command to call someone?
What I meant was while Im listening to my ipod on my iphone, is it possible to use the button on the headset and make a voice call from my headphones? I know I can do voice calling from the phone itself but I was wondering if you could do it through your headphones like push the button and say call whoever in the microphone and it would do it.

How to configure Cisco ASA 5500 to work with the iPhone
We have Cisco ASA 5510 (latest firmware version), and apparently, according to Cisco website it is compatible with new iPhone 3G's IPSec client:

We've setup our first iPhone properly. It connects fine to the network, shows VPN connection as active. Gets a private IP address. But does not let any traffic go to the internal network. We thought it might be DNS problem, but it cannot connect to Exchange server even when using IP address instead of DNS. No luck either.
After checking ASA logs, we found that iPhone goes through Phase 1 authentication correctly. But then gives some kind of error, mentioning "Attribute 5".
Has anybody been successful configuring ASA5500 series (in particular 5510) to be used with iPhone?
I noticed that many people are having these problems.
Please do not post to this topic if you have ANY OTHER Cisco device.
Cisco specifies that iPhone is compatible only with Cisco ASA 5500 Security Appliances and PIX Firewalls. Neither Cisco IOS VPN routers nor the VPN 3000 Series Concentrators support the iPhone VPN capabilities.
Let's keep this topic only for users of ASA 5500 series and PIX Firewalls.
It would be extremely helpful for a large number of users if somebody posted a list of settings for ASA5500 or PIX firewall that DO work with iPhone 2.0

For iPhone you have to be using IPSec tab for configuration.
We tried to set up this config using the wizards, but it would not work.
Later it turned out that wizards by default set this setting:
"crypto isakmp nat-traversal 20"
equal to zero and there is no way to change it from the GUI.
Only after we changed it (increased the value from 0 to 20) through the command line the connection started working perfectly.

Do I have to turn on cellular data to make hands-free calls on the iPhone 6? If so, REALLY, APPLE???? I have never had a smart phone and ALL of my low-tech phones allowed me to make hands-free calls and I did not have to use data (which is NOT free) to do it. I know that I can ask Siri to make calls for me but how do I make hands-free calls when my data is turned off?
Siri does indeed require internet access to function, so yes, you would need to have cellular data turned on

I am having real trouble using my iPhone 4 S to make hands-free calls from the car. The combined earpiece and microphone I have always used without problem on my Nokia keeps getting silly results with Siri!
I just want to be able to make and receive calls using my Contacts List, and get Siri to recognise my voice when I ask for someone on the Contact list!
If I say I want to speak to 'Stephen Farley' it will come back with 'I don't see Stephen Bali in your contact list'!
Maybe I am doing something wrong?!
Also, will the 'voice regonition' work if Siri isn't working because it's out of contact with the internet?
I just need a simple connnection to my Contact List, without all the fancy options of Siri - which are just a pain!

II have one of those stereos bought from Ebay, no badge, no name, and with multitude of functions,and a mic attached to my visor. Once it is paired with Iphone, all my music and calls go through the car stereo.
for applications that do not direct Audio through BT such as CoPilot (GPS navigation) I connect the Iphone through headset socket and into the stereo AUX input and works great (all sounds, voice,calls) go through it. One disadvantage of this method is that I can't listen to the radio. Well you cannot have it all. Or perhaps there is a Radio application where it plays in the background while I still use my GPS application. -

MD Now Requires Hands-Free Calling--Best Bluetooth Speaker Phone for iP4
It's a good thing that, as of today, Maryland requires hands-free phone usage in vehicles, but I am in a rental car at the moment (possibly because of someone else's irresponsible cell phone usage--and I don't know how long), so I am looking for a portable bluetooth hands-free speaker phone that actually works with my iPhone 4 with IOS 4.1. I have had many people tell me lately that I sound terrible when calling from my car using my Parrot Mki9200.
So, what works best now with the iPhone 4 with IOS 4.1 that I can use in my rental and possibly later in my real car.
