  • How do you make a jpeg from a clip

How do you extract (or make) a jpeg from an iMovie clip. That is,the fairly new edition of iMovie?

You could just make a screen grab of the video playing, that is the easiest.
Open photos app, and play the video, pause where you want the image from.
Then hold the power and home button to grab a still image of the screen.
There is an app called videopix that can also grab full frame video grabs.

  • How do I make Smart Quotes in iMovie 11

I'm trying to make a title in iMovie 11 and don't see a way to make "smart" (typographers) quotes. Anyone know how?

You use the keyboard modifiers thusly:
    Open Double-quote: Option + Left Bracket ( [ )
    Close Double-quote: Option + Shift + Left Bracket ( [ )
Check out the smart quotes, in the third line in the screenshot.

  • How do i make a jpeg flag look likes its waving

i have a jpeg of a specific flag that i am trying to make it a loop. whats does it take to make the jpeg look like its waving in the wind? The only thing i have successfully done is put a ripple dissolve across the whole thing and it looks like... well, i put a ripple effect on the flag. any advice?

Library > Filters > Distortion Filters > Wave is the one you want if working in Motion. From the User manual:
    Wave
Distorts the object to simulate waves oscillating across it. The wave filter is not automatically animated, but you can animate the Offset parameter to animate the effect of waves causing the image to undulate.
    Parameters in the Inspector
Amplitude: Sets the amplitude of the waves. Values range from 0 to 100.
Wavelength: Sets the length of the waves. Values range from 1 to 100.
Offset: Sets the offset of the wave, with values ranging from –500 to 500.
Vertical: Toggles whether the waves run vertically or horizontally.
Repeat Edges: Toggles whether or not the edges of the object are repeated.
    Dashboard controls
The Dashboard contains the Amplitude, Wavelength, Offset, and Vertical controls.

  • How do I make a JPEG save as an EPS file?

    Hey everyone,
I am trying to convert a JPEG into an EPS file for a cloth banner a company is making for my club at school and I have absolutely no idea how to do that. Could anyone please help me?
    Thanks!

there are probably some GUI apps that will do this (likely Photoshop is one) but if all you need is to convert just one file you can use the terminal command "convert".
    the usage is pretty simple.
    convert path/to/sourcefile path/to/destination/file
the source file should have .jpg extension and the destination file .eps.
    enter
    man convert
    in terminal for more details.
to get a path to a file drag it to the terminal window. make sure that the spaces in the command are there as in the example above.

  • How do I export a jpeg from iMovie 11?

I must admit, I am new to Mac and am happy to have converted, so be gentle on me.   I have read a number of the archived post, haven't found any recent posts, but I am unable to "reveal in finder".   I have attempted both methods, from event as well as project.  The capture is always 4 secs, do I need to make other adjustments?  It doesn't seem to work for me as described in the older posts.

    Greetings Appleman,
I am a Geezer and totally baffled by some of these functions.  I first selected a clip, moved it into the "Project" window. Then selected the clip in iMovie project window, but when I "right click" I have no idea of where to find "Reveal in Finder."  it is not in the window that opens up with a right click.  (I get a whole list of functions from "Play, Play Selection, Loop Selection, -- Cut, Copy, Paste, etc., but nothing says "Reveal in Finder."  All I want to do is snatch a still photo out of my video.  Any suggestions?

  • How do I make my keynote or iMovie slide show (with music) into a DVD, without iDVD as I don't have it and you can no longer purchase from Apple.

I am new to Apple, since Oct '11.  ( iDVD did not come with this laptop).  I am making a slide show in keynote and can't download to iDVD to make it into a DVD that I can play on any home player. As far as I know, I need to make it into a quicktime file, then find some 3rd party software to convert to DVD. Has anyone had any luck with this.  I think I may just purchase an old copy of iLife from Amazon...

    Hi
And You've done the common steps when in trouble ?
    • Trash iMovie pref file etc.
Se my not all up-dated list.
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Delete iMovie pref file
    iMovie pref file resides.
    Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. (one or more of these)
    com.apple.iMovie.plist
    com.apple.iMovie3.plist
    com.apple.iMovie7.plist
    com.apple.iMovie8.plist
    com.apple.iMovie9.plist
    and find
    com.apple.iApps.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this/these file/s out on to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple’s Disk Utilities application)
    • Disconnect all external hard disks and try - FireWire, USB/2, AirPort or Net-work connected.
To work OK I prefere FireWire AND it must be Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - WILL NOT DO for video - neither for iMovie or FinalCut or iDVD any version ! This also includes any USB-memory sticks.
    • Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    • Turn off Mac and disconnect Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes - will at least re-set FW-port
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09 or 11)
    • Problems in iPhoto Library can affect iMovie to crash on start-up. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
    This You do by
    _ close iPhoto
    _ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
_ now select all five options presented
_ WAIT a long long time

    • Program miss-match. iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (will work under Leopard and Snow-Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iMovie’08 v. 7.1.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (will work under Leopard and Snow-Leopard)

From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

I run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac.

  • How can I make a jpeg smaller?

I have a jpeg that I need to post in Facebook but it is too wide.  I want to shrink the size by about 1/3 so that it fits into the space that Facebook allows.
I imported the jpeg into iphoto in the hope of doing it there (I don't have Illustrator or Photoshop) but it doesn't seem to have that capacity.  Is there some quick and easy way I can shrink the size by 1/3 so that it fits into the Facebook box?

Yes, you can do it in iPhoto.
Select your photo while viewing it in its event or an album and use the command "File > Export" from the main menu bar.
Then - in the Export panel - set the size to custom and specify the size you want to achieve.
Select a folder and a name for the exported image file.

  • How can I make a still photo from imovie

How can I make a still photo from imovie?

Let's assume you have iMovie 11 (Version 9). (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different.)
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
I have created a short video Tutorial on how to do this. There is one error in the Tutorial, where it says that Command-click is the same as right-click. I should have said Control-click instead.

I'm trying to make a slideshow in iMovie, but when I upload photos from my Aperture Library into the iMovie Photo Browser, some photos (305 out of 427) are missing. How do I get iMovie to upload all of them?

I have same problem. I could only see a fraction of my project photos if I browse the Aperture lbrary. It is the same problem when I sync the aperture photos to my iPhone or iPad. I still cannot solve it but I know a way to go around it for your iMovie to see the pictures so that you can work on your iMovie.
    Here is the work around:
Export the photos from your album to your hard disk and re-import into your iPhoto. Now you should be able to see those photos that you want to work on in iMovie when you browse your iPhot library.
