Hello Everyone, I am at a loss as to how to do this. I'm not a developer, just someone who updates simple things on my website. I thought I took care of this a couple of weeks ago, but whatever I did it does open the link in a new window while opening it in the window my site is in too, which defeats the purpose. I can't find how to correct this in Help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pamela

I should bring your attention to the fact that your user agent says you're using Firefox 3.6, not 3.0. I will remind you that Firefox 3.0 has been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems.
As for your problem, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. How To Make Links In A .PDF Open In A New Window

I am using Acrobat Pro 10 to create a fillable employment application. At the top of the main application, I want people to be able to click and be redirected to another .PDF file I have hosted on my site that they will need to fill out in addition. So, I have used the link tool, but this closes the main pdf application and opens up the new pdf in its place. This is very problematic, because it clears out all of their data in the previous main application. So, I need the link to open in a new window and not in the same one as the original form. Is this possible?
I have tried using the Java work around explained in this article: http://mythinkpond.wordpress.com/2009/11/04/opening-a-link-in-a-pdf-document-in-a-new-wind ow/
However, when I do this, and upload it to my site the link doesn't do anything. When you click above the word where the link should be, it doesn't show the finger pointer and doesn't do anything when clicked.

That makes sense. So I guess it looks like I have 2 options.
1. Put the JS short code in and have it open the link in a new window if the user opens it in adobe. If a google chrome user opens it in the default viewer, they wont be able to use the link at all.
2. Leave the link how it is, and it will be usable in both viewers, but will not open it in a new window.
I am sureprised that opening the link in a new window isn't just an option in Acrobat Pro. I wouldn't think you'd have to make a workaround like this.

When I try to open a link (which would automatically open in a new window), for example a larger image, or a link etc, it opens but will not load. It either refuses to load or, in the case of an image, says 'stopped'.

As I say, since I updated to 3.6.15 I am unable to open links off a webpage that should open in a new window, or even open enlarged photographs in a separate window. Either, in the case of the latter, I get the message "stopped" in the bottom of the browser window, or in the former case it either appears to begin to load the new page but then stalls. Sometimes I don't even get this, but end up with "(Untitled)" appearing in the tab label.

When I click images or links that should automatically open in a new window, instead a new blank window opens.

For some time now and after firefox has automatically been updated a few times, I click on images or links which are supposed to open in a new window automatically. A new window opens but it is blank with no toolbars, just an adress bar with nothnig in it.

mha007, Thank you. I walked through your suggested solutions and finally disabled all add-ons and restarted them one by one. The culprit seems to be ViewSourceWith 0.8.11. Interestingly when it is enabled I had to go to TaskManager to force Firefox to quit.
Maybe this information will help others. I don't know if the cache clearing etc helped but I would suggest that others start but Bringing up Firefox in Safe Mode (hold shift when you select the icon), disable all add-ons and then start them one by one.
Of course if you have ViewSourceWith maybe you should just disable it first rather than go through the tedium of restarting each add-on separately. To get to the add-ons when it won't open from the toolbar type about:addons in the address area.

Link List Explorer NOT Opening In A New Window

Hi All,
I am trying to force my KM linklist links to open in a new window and this is proving to be a hard feat!
I have navigated to System Admin --> System Config --> Knowledge Management --> Content Management --> Configuration --> Content Management --> User Interface --> Settings --> Resource Renderer Settings --> Link List Resource Renderer.
Within this area, I have changed the Target Window Type to "blank" and "fixed" amongst other options but it is not opening the new links in a blank window.
Instead, it opens the KM folder in a new window and when I click on a link within that folder, it opens in a new portal window complete with Portal framework.
All I want is for my links to open in a new blank window with no Portal framework.
Any ideas?

It's known bug. this issue fixed in 11.1.1.7.0 (coming soon).
bug 13852263 - ACTION LINKS - NAVIGATION TO BI REPORTS DOESN'T WORK ( OPEN IN NEW WINDOW)
for now : to uncheck the "Open in New Window" checkbox and go to the detail report in the same Window.
Note: this bug has been fixed by applying the patch 14003822 (u need to get the latest patch)

How do I make my form (list/menu) items open in the same window (self).

Hello, the kind, brilliant people on this forum have always been able to help me in the past, so I thought I'd give it a try today. Items in a form (list/menu) that I've created are opening in a blank window (pop-up) when clicked. I would like them to open in "self" mode so that pop up blockers on various computers don't become a challenge for site visitors. Can anyone please tell me how I could make that adjustment? I selected the entire form "red dotted line" around the list and changed the "target" in the properties menu to "self". Then I selected everything on the page and still not correct. I am inserting the code below. Any assistance to get me on the right track would be GREATLY appreciated!! BTW I also made the form a library item (just in case that fact is needed). Looks like it still isn't working. When I removed those items the drop down menu stopped working as well. I went ahead and posted yours as the correct answer. I'm convinced it's my skill level. i'm gonna do some javascript searches to see where the js code should go, it's very confusing to me. Having trouble making my links to other sites open in a new window

On iWeb, on my Links page, I have ticked the box to 'open links in a new window' s that viewers aren't directed away from my set, however, when I visit my site this ahsn't worked - any idea what else I need to do?

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - reboot, launch iWeb, reset the links in the Inspector pane and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

I have an application where I want to present the user with a form, have them enter their report parameters, and then press a go button. I would then like to display a progress bar. You want to retrieve two responses? Then you'll have to invoke two requests simultaneously. You can make this possible with a Javascript window.open call in the onclick attribute of the commandButton. E.g.

How can I fix an error where Firefox temporarily opens a blank new window every time I try to post a text reply on any YouTube video?

I'm not sure when it first started occurring, however, I recently noticed that ANY time I have tried lately to post a text reply to ANY video on YouTube, Firefox will open an "about:blank" screen for about 1-2 seconds, and close it. I will not get to make my reply and everything seemingly goes back to normal.
If I open the same video URL in I.E. 11.0, I have no difficulty whatsoever posting text replies to ANY videos, so something is going on with Firefox.
The thought had crossed my mind to uninstall/reinstall Firefox, and I know there's no harm in doing so, but I figured I'd come here first, in case someone who knows Firefox better than I, has an even simpler solution, or in case the uninstall/reinstall idea wouldn't have worked anyway. Please let me know what y'all think about this.

I just upgraded to 6.0 and links that want to open in a new window do not work. Right click and selecting open in new window does work.

Similarly clicking a link in email does not open a window. I can drag the link to Firefox and a new tab opens.
Also clicking Tools -> Add-ons does not open a tab as it used to.

Clicking a link in portal favorites opens in a new window?

I added few pages to my favorties and when i click on the the link in favorites, it is opening a dialog with "download" and save buttons. I donno why it is happening like that.

We can't solve it. Eighter with client-caching nor without caching.
On click on a favorite the ie-dialog ist coming out for open oder save the destination. When I choose "open" nothing happens.

Most people know how to use their browsers BACK button to return to a site. Or better yet, right click on links to open them inside new tabs or windows. This should almost always be a user's decision and not a web designer's decision.
If you have all links open in new windows/tabs, In no time at all, user's browser will be stuffed with them which is ugly and can diminish browser performance.
If you need to open a new window on SELECT links, use the Behaviors Panel, press the Plus sign (+) and select Open Browser Window. Repeat this for all links you want opened in new windows.
