How do I make a music link that plays on the open page?

I want to display a image of a violin and have a on-off and slider bar underneath that shows playing progress for a short violin tune.
As it is, I have a link to the mp3 file which, when clicked, opens another page and shows the slider bar and start/volume control. I would like it to stay on the same page that the user is viewing when he/she clicks on the violin.
Can you help me with possible link on how this should be done? Or, give me a run-down on the steps to do this correctly in Dreamweaver? Can this be done simply in Dreamweaver or does it need to be done in another application like Flash?

To bring all the different elements together the way you want, my choice would be to do this in Flash. Check the Adobe Flash Forum if you get stuck.

I have a newsletter and want to make a button on a page that when clicked, will open the browser and go to that site. I see how to convert objects to a button and enter the URL in its properties but when I convert to a PDF, the entire object is missing. When converting to PDF, I also make sure that hyperlinks and interactive elements are both checked in the General section. I dont know what else I need to do!

It is a colored square that was also grouped with a text box. I tried also ungrouping it and just putting the button effect on one or the other and had the same problem. When i look at the PDF, it has nothing there, whatever object i have the button effect applied to is totally deleted. I even tried clicking on the area where it was thinking maybe something was invisible and that didnt do anything either. There are no left over or hidden boxes there that could be covering things either. Im good about working cleanly and organized.
Ill try doing this with a new document tomorrow and see what happens

No, you do not want H.264 file at all. And if you do use a H.264 it will re-encoded as a MPEG-2 file, which means it will be double compressed, which always results in a loss in quality. Also be aware that you are working in SD resolution, which means 740x480 for NTSC video, not 1280x720.

Harald, if I understand you right, this is your scenario:
You have a page with a form and a report in it. When you click
on a row in the report, you want to be able to edit that row in
the form, but still within the page (not the form all by itself).
This is not supported in 3.0.9, but it is possible with some
extra coding. Ken Atkins gave a presentation on exactly this at
the last ODTUG convention, and again at the recent VOUG
convention. Its a bit too complicated to explain here, but if
you want, email me or look for his presentation on odtug.org or
voug.org websites (not sure if the voug ones are up yet, it was
last week).
Also, be wary, since its not supported, things like that tend to
break when new versions come out.

How can I make rectangular speech bubbles that adapt to the text inside them without the "arrow" that points towards where the bubble is coming from getting changed?

I have to make lots of speech bubbles (150+) that all have texts inside them which differ in length. I want the speech bubbles to look the same in terms of style, but I need different sizes of course for each text. This means that the rectangular part of the speech bubble should adapt in length and width to the text inside it, while the "arrow" pointing towards where the bubble is coming from (e.g. the person who speaks) should stay the same on every bubble. So is there a way or a workaround to make such "adapting" speech bubbles?

Here's another way I found:
1. Draw a speech bubble. Mine is a rectangle with rounded corners and a triangular pointer added with Pathfinder > Add
2. Drag out a frame the same size as the speech bubble. Select the speech bubble and Copy; then select the empty frame and choose Edit > Paste Into...
3. Alt-Drag the frame with the pasted speech bubble to make a copy, then crop one copy to leave only the top of the bubble showing, and crop the other copy to leave only the bottom.
4. Drag out a text frame and insert a table consisting of 1 column, 3 rows. Set the text frame to Autosize > Height Only.
5. Set the stroke/fill of the top and bottom rows to none, and style the middle row to match the speech bubble, (in my case a white fill and 2pt stroke; left and right).
6. Anchor (paste) a copy of the speech bubble top in the top table row, and a copy of the speech bubble bottom in the bottom row.
Getting the 3 parts to match up with is where you just have to work on it until you get it right. Use the positioning tools in Anchored Object options and the column width setting in Cell options to line everything up.
Enter your text in the middle row. (Hey, look at that...a valid application of Comic Sans!) With the Cell Height set to an "At Least" setting, the cell will expand to fit whatever text you enter, pushing the the bottom row down, with the text frame auto-sizing to keep everything in play...

I would like my students to listen to a story as they read it. Is there a way to embed the audio file and have it play through the entire book? I successfully embedded the audio file, but it stopped playing when I turned the page.

Unless you transfer the files from Setup Assistant, Migration Assistant creates a new user with the data.
To transfer the files to your first user, you have to log on this new user, and copy all your files to /Users/Shard folder. This is a folder where you can put the files you want to share between two or more users, and all users can read and write in it.
After copying the files, go to your first user, open /Users/Shared folder, and copy the files to your user folders. If you migrated applications, you must know that they are stored in a common folder (/Applications), so you don't have to transfer them. To open /Users/Shared folder, open Go menu (in the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type the folder

How do I make printed music look best?

I'm importing a page of music and am using it (with the same audio) to assist the viewer in following along with the (visable) music. It's just a short selection, less than 20 seconds. My problem is that the sheet music looks poor. It's blurry and seems to be low resolution.
Because I'm creating the sheet music in Sibelius I can export it in an assortment of different options (BMP, PNG, TIFF, EPS, or SVG) and different resolutions. However, the ones I've tried don't look up to snuff.
It seems that whatever I've chosen has not met expectations. Is there a magic formula? How many dots per inch should I use for the creation of the graphic? Should I create the video as 1080p, 720p, standard resolution? Any ideas are appreciated.

Tom, thanks for the quick reply. I can understand your confusion. There are two different types of material, one is a simple (taller than wide) page. The other is a longer page, possiblty four or five times as wide as it is tall.
What I'm trying to do visually is use the Shapes Generator in FCPX to place a line, circle, and/or arrow in time to the music as it plays on the page. The page on the tall ones will not move. The long ones will be using the Ken Burns effect to "move" along the score, also with Shapes pointing to things in the music (in time to the audio).
Does that make it more clear?
I've been trying PNG from Sibelius but saving it as only 300dpi. Should I save the file as 1080?

Basically I like the control over the compiling process that I get by using Ant - but I really want traces to come up immediately without having to switch contexts.
I have an ant file that successfully launches a swf in the flashplayer - but I don't know how to make the flex console start displaying the trace output. I assume that I will have to point it to the appropriate trace output file - but I am not sure how to have ant even address the console. Is this possible?

You can't do that. This is what the Pages User Guide, downloadable from your Pages Help menu, says:
Creating and Updating a Table of Contents
Each table of contents (TOC) you create using a Word Processing template lists only the content that follows it, up until the next table of contents. If you want a master table of contents for the entire document, it must be the only table of contents, and it must be at the beginning of the document.
You can do it manually though.
