How do I make a new folder on Pages in iCloud?

My Pages in iCloud has many documents which I uploaded one at a time.  How do I create new folders and move the documents into them?  I don't see an option to create new folders anywhere.

Pages can create a new folder from the Save.../Save As... dialog. By default there is a button in the toolbar with a  ▲. Click this button and the dialog expands. At the bottom, you will see a button labeled, “New Folder.” You should have an idea where you want this new folder to be placed.
There is no mechanism within Pages that will permit folder deletion. That is the purview of the Finder.
The simplest way to remove a folder is to drag it to the Trash (and empty the Trash). You should be absolutely certain that the folder contents are expendable or archived before you do this.
The alternative method is to control-click the folder destined for removal. A contextual menu will appear. Choose the “Move to Trash” menu item.

  • How can I create a new folder in iWork on iCloud?

I learned how to drag and drop individual documents onto the Pages panel of iWork on iCloud.  However, I would like to be able to organize these documents in folders.  I tried dragging a folder onto the Pages panel, but I get an error message saying "Folder Name" can't be uploaded because its file format isn't supported, even though this folder contains only Pages documents.  Is there any way to create folders in order to organize your documents on iCloud?

Tap and hold a file. When it starts to shake, drag it on top of another file. This will create your folder. By the way, you can't create any nested folders (folders inside of folders).

  • How can I make a new genius mix? Apple has made two automatically, but I would like one based on other genres within my iTunes library. I have tried updating my genius mixes to no avail.

How can I make a new genius mix? I do not want to make a genius playlist. Genius has already created two mixes but I would like another based on other genres within my extensive music library. I have tried updating Genius from Store>Update Genius but to no avail. Thank you!

Hi. The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.

  • How do I make a junk folder to replace the one I accidently deleted?

I was having trouble with an undeletable, "ghost" e-mail in one of my junk folders, and the folder itself was uneditable. In the process of following all the advice from my Mac users group (resets, rebuilds, user library, preferences, etc.) I accidently deleted the offending folder. How do I make a new one? The junk mail folders in my other accounts are working fine, but now any junk that comes in for the deleted folder "disappears" (and it's not in my user library folder.) Weird...

Well, halleluyah, my accidently deleted junk folder is back and empty!
Once I got an unwanted email that was addressed correctly with my real mailbox name, I manually labeled it junk and then the mailbox reappeared itself. (D'uh!)
So: if anyone else has an invisible junk email in an empty junk folder that says '1' email is in there and the "rebuild" command under "mailbox" drop down menu is greyed out, here's what finally worked:
Keep a (correctly addressed) junk email in your inbox. Delete the damaged junk folder. Close Mail. Shut down. Start up. Open Mail and select the junk email in the inbox. Label it as junk by using the drop down command on the emasil header bar. Ta Da! It will make a new junk folder with the e-mail address as a name and send itself there. You can then delete the junk email..I suggest using the drop down menu or right click the mouse.to do so.
If you don't have any junk emails to save, you'll end up having to do what I did...delete the junk folder and wait for a new email that can be labeled junk.
Hope this saves someone else some grief.

  • How do I create a new folder in bookmarks?

I followed the suggestions from post a year ago, but the answer I was directed to no longer works. This used to be easy until they changed the bookmark section on Firefox. Wondering why there does not seem to be a choice simply marked "New Folder" or if there is, where is it?

To create a new folder in Bookmarks: Click on "Bookmarks". Then click on "Bookmark this page". A small pop-up screen will have fields for "name" (of the page), "folder", and "tags". To the far right of the "folder" field are two downward arrows. Click on the one farthest to the right. This will show you '''all''' the existing folders, and an option to make a "NEW FOLDER".
Before you click on this, you may want to select an existing folder to put the NEW folder into. If so, click on the folder of choice, then click on the "NEW FOLDER" option. The new folder will appear at the bottom of the menu. You can name it now, or later. When all fields have been filled to your satisfaction, click on "DONE". I'm not sure how you'd do it without starting with a page you want to save, but you'll find a way, right?

I recently created a new folder on my MacBook, dragged some items into it, and found that the entire contents of my desktop appeared to be in the folder as well. This happens every time I make a new folder. Any suggestions?

Csound1 What Ive been trying to explain is that I have been running bootcamp, I open the app where the first screen is the introduction, i hit continue, the first time I select "download the latest windows support software fromm Apple" then I return and instead select "Install Windows 7." Then hit continue. The third screen is where I "Create a Partition for Windows" I set Windows to 80 gigs then hit INSTALL. As stated before Bootcamp cannot find the install drivers saying "The installer disc could not be found." My windows software is on a USB drive not a disc, I tried using a virtual disc reader to make it appear that the windows software was running on a disc, still no luck. What I would like to know is how to install windows on bootcamp.

  • Make a New Folder from the search field

Tried searching all over, can't find the answer to this simple question.
How can I use Automator to make a new folder with the same name as what I am searching for in Find Finder items?
Basically I am working with large image sequences that are all being rendered in one folder, but then need to be sorted based on their Prefixes before an underscore. I'd love to not have to copy what I'm searching for into the New Folder field, too.

I would particularly like to organize downloads by renaming them, and then they automatically get filed away in the correct folder.
You might achieve something similar by using AppleScript. The example script below, while not meant to be a definitive solution, might provide a guide for you to work with.
The script specifies paths to various existing folders, in this case Music Downloads and Movie Downloads. Once files passed to the script meet the required criteria ("if characters 1 through 5 of theName...") then the files get moved to their appropriate destination folders.
To run this script as written you would first need to create a Music Downloads and a Movie Downloads folder, making sure to specify the exact paths to these folders, and replacing "username" in their paths with your actual short name. You would also want to rename your files so that they meet the required criteria: music files might be renamed music_1, music_2, and so on, while movie files could be named movie_1, movie_2, etc.
The script below can be copied and then pasted into your AppleScript Script Editor to be saved as an application droplet. Once saved, you can drag and drop single or multiple renamed music or movie files, separately or in combination, onto the the saved droplet's icon. If all goes as expected, the music files will be moved to the Music Downloads folder while movie files get moved to the Movie Downloads folder.
The script was written so that a warning dialog is issued if files passed to it don't meet the renaming criteria. Also, if any duplicate files exist in any of the destination folders, a dialog will appear offering the option to a) replace the item, b) don't replace but continue moving non-duplcates, or c) quit altogether.
My preference would be for the AppleScript-only droplet approach. But if you'd like to use Automator and have the script available through a right-click contextual menu, you can create this single-action Automator workflow: *Run AppleScript* (from the Automator library). Simply remove the script from its "on open" command handler and insert the remaining code between the Run AppleScript action's default "on run" command handler. Then, from Automator's File menu choose "Save As Plug-in" > Plug-in for: Finder, with a name such as "Put Away" and you should be set.
    +The script:+
    *on open*
    *tell application "Finder"*
    *set theseItems to selection*
*repeat with i from 1 to the count of theseItems*
    try
*set thisItem to item i of theseItems as alias*
*set theName to name of thisItem*
    *if characters 1 through 5 of theName is {"m", "u", "s", "i", "c"} then*
*move thisItem to "Macintosh HD:Users:username:desktop:music downloads" -- Specify exact path; replace 'username' with your short name.*
    *else if characters 1 through 5 of theName is {"m", "o", "v", "i", "e"} then*
*move thisItem to "Macintosh HD:Users:username:desktop:movie downloads" -- Specify exact path; replace 'username' with your short name.*
    else
*display dialog "Only items which meet the criteria can be moved." & return & return & "The item " & (ASCII character 34) & theName & (ASCII character 34) & " cannot be moved" with icon caution buttons {"OK"} default button "OK"*
    *end if*
    *on error*
    *tell me to activate*
*display dialog "An item named " & (ASCII character 34) & theName & (ASCII character 34) & " already exists in its destination folder. Would you like to replace it with the one you are moving?" & return & return & "Replacing the existing item will overwrite its current contents." with icon caution buttons {"Quit", "Don't Replace And Continue", "Replace Item"} cancel button "Quit" default button "Don't Replace And Continue"*
*if button returned of result is "Replace Item" then*
    *tell application "Finder"*
    *if characters 1 through 5 of theName is {"m", "u", "s", "i", "c"} then*
*move thisItem to "Macintosh HD:Users:username:desktop:music downloads" replacing yes -- Specify path and replace 'username' as above.*
    *else if characters 1 through 5 of theName is {"m", "o", "v", "i", "e"} then*
*move thisItem to "Macintosh HD:Users:username:desktop:movie downloads" replacing yes -- Specify path and replace 'username' as above.*
    *end if*
    *end tell*
    *end if*
    *end try*
    *end repeat*
    *end tell*
    *end open*
The above script worked for me in testing. Good luck.

One you start up the new one for the first time, Setup Assistant starts and offers you the option of migrating your old Mac to your new Mac with Time Machine, among other choices, as the source. You can also use Migration Assistant (in the Utilities Folder) to do the same thing.
