How do i make a new unrelated tab open next to my current tab? i can't find an extension that does this

what i was referring to would be while on a tab that isnt at the end i think of something i want to look up. i hit cntrl t and instead of the new tab opening next to the current one it opens all the way at the end. i was wondering if there was a way to make it open next to the current one

In finder I have set new finder windows to open my home folder, however it is actually opening the Users folder. So if I press down, it will select the next user in the list rather than selecting the first folder in my home directory.
This doesn't happen for any other folders. e.g. If I set it to open my documents folder and I press down, the first document in the folder will be selected.
Any idea how I can get this to work properly?

Double check in Finder preferences that you actually have set it to your home folder because your entire description is consistent with it being set to the Users folder. I don't see how it can be set to 'home' and open any folder other than that one.

This worked fine on my old Mac (OS X 10.8.5). I selected a JPG & went through these steps: Open with > Other > Adobe Photoshop CS4 > click on “Always Open With”. After that, double-clicking on any JPG opened it in Photoshop. Same for TIFFs etc. On my new Mac (OS X 10.9.2), this works only for each individual file. I am in & out of Photoshop all day long & really need to be able to open photos by double-clicking on them. Help, please.

Your problem seems to have nothing really to do with Photoshop but be an OS issue.
Have you tried repairing permissions yet? (I’m not on Mac OS 10.9, but permission issues seem like a possible culprit.)

New tabs are advertised in Firefox 5.0 as being set to open next the the current tab by default. Mine, however, do not do this. They open to the right of the last tab, necessitating a lot of tab-scrolling, and a minor waste of time.
I have not installed the extension that forces the tab behaviour I'm currently witnessing.
Is there a kind soul out there with any suggestions for how I can get my new tabs to appear next to the tab I'm working on?

Tabs that are "related" to the current tab, like the same domain, open to the right of the current tab. Other links that are from other domains open at the right end of the tab strip.
The pref for that actions is '''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent'''.
To have them all open to the right of the current tab would need an add-on, if that action even exists in an add-on.

There is not a built-in setting for opening new "unrelated" tabs anywhere except at the end of the tab bar.
Various add-on authors have tackled this request over the years. It's not really clear to me which of these extensions still work, but you might check the reviews and see what you think. (I haven't tried these myself)

If you are logged into your old game center account on your device, follow these steps:
1.) go to settings
2.) scroll all the way down until you see the game center tab and click on it
3.) you should see an option to change your profile name; click inside the box
4.) type in your desired profile name and then it should either give you an option to save or if you exit out it should save by itself. To check, just repeat the steps up until #3 but don't click the box. You should see your new game center name.

System Preferences -> Accounts -> unlock the padlock -> click the + button at the bottom. All accounts that are for regular use should be non-admin accounts. Have one admin account that is used for admin related tasks only.
To install one application so that it is for one user only, you can try to install it in that user's home holder. Depending on the application, it might not work, though. In any case, you can limit users' access to applications by using Parental Controls.

The two user tips both describe a sequence of steps that should get your library from the point where it threatens to wipe data from your device to where it is syncing normally, while recovering as much information as possible. It may still be necessary to wipe and reload the device but this should only take place once all the data that can be recovered has been recovered.
Doing step 1 of 8 and then complaining things aren't the way you want them to be yet strikes me as premature...
Since you appear to have all your media content, and we are discussing an iPod classic, not an iOS device, the main worries are already taken care of. What's left is ratings, playcounts, playlist membership and checked status. Since your device holds only part of your library at best you could only recover the missing data for the content that is on the device using third party tools.
Recreating the previous checked/unchecked status of every track in your library from where you are now may not be that easy. Syncing with selected playlists has many advantages, one of which would have been that you would have a named playlist that could have been retrieved by 3rd party software if you had used this method.
You haven't explained what caused your problem in the first place, but if you have a Previous iTunes Libraries folder holding old copies of your iTunes database (generated with each iTunes update) then it would be possible to restore the most recent of these and then update the library with any changes in your media folder.
BTW Apple doesn't offer free support for this kind of issue with iTunes.
