How do I make a PAL movie ?

It seems as if the iPhone 4 outputs movies at 30 fps, (and can't be changed) - whereas my bridge camera can do 25 fps. Since for UK I need the end result to be in PAL @ 25 fps, how best to achieve this ?
My iMovie project, set for PAL/25 fps just slows the iPhone material down, which does not look good for street scenes where people are walking around.
Alternately if I only use iPhone footage I can have a 30 fps project, but apparently only as an NTSC one, which when made into a DVD using Toast 11, does not run well in my UK DVD player.

You need to make sure you author an NTSC DVD.
Most PAL DVD players can play NTSC DVDs, and most tvs can now play NTSC signals.
I say "most", as most do, but some do not.
It may be that either your TV or your DVD player is converting NTSC to PAL on the fly (there is an option in many DVD players to convert rather then play native).
I would suggest you try to play the DVD on your computer.
If your computer does not show this pattern or effect then it is your DVD - TV set up.
If the DVD player on your computer shows these patterns, then your DVD encoding software is introducing them in the encode to Standard definition.
You can export the video as HD from the iPad and iPhone; and this has to be converted to SD to make a DVD.
You might be seeing a bad downscale, rather then a frame rate issue.

I just got through a run through of your issue using Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 and Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 64 bit and my TV DVD player.
Whether it was Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 or Premiere Elements 11 with or without menu markers on the project's Timeline, the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc produced played back the same on my TV DVD Player.
Results...
No disc menus and with or without scene markers on the Timeline
Timeline - color matte - jpg 1, jpg 2, jpg3, jpg 4, jp5
Hitting Play, played back was from the color matte to the jp5 and then back to the DVD player logo, not the color matte.
If I applied a disc menu (just main menu page, no scene markers on the Timeline)
Timeline - color matte - jpg1, jpg2, jpg3, jpg4, jp5
The main menu would automatically appear. When I hit Play (only option since no scene markers/no Scene Selection button on the main menu), the playback would start at the color matte, continue to jpg5, and then return to the main menu page, not the DVD player logo nor the color matte.
Again, it did not matter if the DVD-VIDEO described above was created in version 8.0/8.0.1 or 11, same results.
I did not explore fully TV DVD settings to determine if answers could be found on the TV DVD player side of things. I have not found them.
Could you elaborate on what you wrote
At the start I chose to use a single slide from the Elements 11 menu selection.
Are you saying that whatever you did there was consistent with you getting what you wanted when you did that but used version 8.0/8.0.1 instead of 11? From what you wrote, I am wondering if what you did was to apply just the main menu of a disc menu to the project to get what you wanted just like I did in my road testing of the issue tonight.

I am making a website based in flash actionscript 3.0 i have a button nested in its own movie clip, because I have the button expanding to be able to read it i have figured out the only way to do this is by creating it as a movie clipa nd inside the movie clip creating it as a button

i have named the symbol blog and have name the frame of where the blog page is going to be "blogframe" this line of code at the bottom is where i run into trouble the output window in Flash is saying "The blog button was clicked" just like i want it to. no errors are accouring why than is the playhead not going to frame "blogframe"? if the button is working when i click it the code is right i belive the problem here is it does not want the playhead to go to the frame i want it to. contained in a rectangular mask. I've got the photo moving okay,
but have not been able to make a mask layer make the 'hole' that I
want to contain the image as it moves.
How can I make a mask that will contain this animation? I see
there is an Adobe tutorial on just the opposite - making a mask
move while the image stays still, but that technique does not help
me do the opposite.

How can I in Imovie 10 make from 1 movie 2 movies.
I would like to split the movie into two movies including all the foto and audio .

One way is to select all the clips in the timeline that you want to be in one of the movies and copy them. Open a new project and paste into the timeline. Go back to the original project and delete the selected clips. Then share the two projects.

How can I make unfinished tasks move to the next day in Reminders (as they did prior to Yosemite)?

With Yosemite's updates, Reminders doesn't wrap unfinished tasks to the next day. Previously, if I didn't check off a task on one day, it wrapped to the next day. Now, they just stay on the original day, causing me to not see that I haven't finished something! If I look at them in Scheduled view, unfinished tasks list under today (this is the view like that of iPad and iPhone Reminders). When looking at tasks in the one-day-at-a-time view, unfinished tasks from previous days disappear. How do I make them appear without having to change all the dates each day? This is an "update" that creates a problem rather than fixes one.

How can I make slides into movies to show on DVDs?

I have just scanned about a thousand of my 91 year old Dad's slides and have been trying to transfer them to discs, so that they can be easily played on a DVD player so that he doesn't have to go through that oldfashioned slide show procedure with the projector.
I scanned them, edited them using Photostudio and then dragged them into iMovie. 99 seemed to be the maximum number of photos I could get to burn onto a DVD. (Using Roxio Toast)
After a lot of trial and error, I thought I had done it successfully, but now find they don't work even as a slide show (clicking on from one to the other with the DVD remote), let alone as movies. I had arranged them into categories and made movies of about 50 each, with transitions.
The first major problem became apparent after the first few were done, when I realised that iMovie tends to prefer NTSC to PAL and sometimes reverts to NTSC of it's own accord. (I'm in Australia, where PAL is the standard)
I gave up on trying to select music to go with the photos, as when I tried to select the movie to burn, the music would not be there.
I found that about 10 seconds duration was best for each photo, and tried selecting all to add the same Ken Burns transition to each one. I thought by keeping each disc to only a few 'slide shows' of about 15 minutes duration each I had finally got it right, but apparently it won't play on Dad's DVD player.
I would like step-by-step instructions on exactly how I should go about this project, as it seems I will have to do it all again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

It would really help if the machine you are using has iDVD. If it did you would use iMove to create slideshows then drag them into iDVD, customize the DVD with a them, music, etc. then burn the DVD.
You can also do all the slideshow (99 images each) right within iDVD, then burn the DVD.
Macs are great, but you need the right software, and iDVD is what you need to make DVDs.
There is a hack to be able to burn a DVd with iDVD using an external or non-supported burner.

I have 10 small one minute long i-movies. I want to make them into one single i-movie with 10 chapters. How can I do that?
When I try to import (or drag in) my other i-movies I get this error:
+The file could not be imported: The file “xxx” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -43+
It seems like it should be so simple but I can't figure it out! Please help!

It does 'merge' clips, that is the main purpose of an editor, but it can not merge projects.. that easy.
going into concept of iMovie: a project file contains clips AND what you have done with it, edits, titles, music... in a special format, you can edit your project, when you open it later..

iMvers5 does not support two/many projects open simultanously (main advantage of vers6) .. but you can copy your clip in project 1, close it, and paste it into project 2 .. (etc) ..

Exporting problem: How can I make a PAL DVD with NTSC footage?

Hi everyone,
I need some help as I've been trying to burn a DVD for a couple of days now but it still isn't working. Here is my situation:
I shot a lot of standard definition DV with my Canon GL-2 (NTSC, bought in America) that I imported into the trial version of Premiere 5.5.
I edited the footage and set out to make a DVD with the footage that will play on PAL televisions as I live in Australia now and it's all PAL over here.
I exported the footage and put it onto Windows DVD Maker because the trial version of Premiere doesn't let you use Encore.
The footage looked great on Premiere and on the little preview that you get through Windows DVD Maker, but when I burnt the DVD and tried playing it on my TV it looked really bad.
The big problem was the color. Everything was much too red, particularly people's faces.
I assume the problem lies in my export settings, and I was hoping someome who has done this before could help me out. I tried a variety of settings, but they all looked bad and I'd prefer not to waste any more money on DVDs that look like hell.
Is there anyone out there who can tell me how I can get the DVD to look like it does on my computer? What setting would I need to apply? I have been all over the internet, looking at a lot of tutorials and forums, but havent found an answer yet.

My DVD player is playing the DVDs so that's OK, the real problem is that they look so bad. I just bought a whole mess of DVDs because I thought I would just experiment while I was waiting to see if anyone could help me out, and the results have been frustrating. I tried it with all PAL settings and the first DVD I made was much better. That one didnt have all of the sections, just one of the chapters (I wanted to check quickly whether the setting I had was a good one, so I just put a short 7 minute clip on). Encouraged, I tried burning the whole disc using the same settings, but it came out crappy again. Much too red. This is really frustrating me. My computer is new, so I can't see why there would be any problem with the DVD burner, but if two DVDs with the same export settings are coming out differently, I'm thinking it might have to be a problem with either the DVD burner or the DVDs?
Can anybody suggest anything? I'm dying here.

Hi, I do business on my computer and I set up some smart mailboxes for some mail I get daily. However, the mail that goes into these smart mailboxes, doesn't seem to move there, now I have two copies of that mail. I want these files to MOVE OUT OF MY INBOX into these smart mailboxes, HOW do I do that? Or is that not the purpose of the smart mailboxes?

Smart mailboxes are not separate folders that can store files, they are indexes to files that are stored elsewhere. The same mail item can appear in a dozen smart boxes, if it matches the criteria, but only in one normal mailboxes.
Make some normal mailboxes and set up rules to sort your incoming mail to them.

How can I make my AVCHD mov. files work in premier pro?

I used Panasonic HDC-SD60 for a short film for work. This has over about 40 clips with around 3 hours of footage However when I import the .mov files from the media browser the audio seems fine but the footage is in a sort of slow mo, and out of sync. I want to edit and do post-production using adobe premier pro, and after effects. However the footage seems to be working in final cut X. There is no lag with playback on quicktime either. What's making this happen? I've read about variable frame rates, it's seems most common in iPhones and tablets? Is that something that the panasonic do as well? Is there a fix? Or should I jump ship and make do with a slightly more limited features of Final Cut?

You can do it if you remove 2 <p> and replace it with just 1 <p> for both img and text. But, this is not recommended.
On a phone dimension, if you test using an actual phone, you'll notice you're better off having image & description after each other rather than having them side by side. This will make it 'easy on the eye' - especially if the description is longer than the img height, your alignment will break.
If you want to make it look nicer, I'll recommend that you align everything to screen center on phone resolution.
