How do I make a phone call from my mac with yosemite?

How do I make a phone call from my MacBook Pro on the Yosemite operating system?

The following quotation is from Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity
There is more information in the link, including supported hardware and that you must have Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls set to on on the iPhone.
Phone calls
With Continuity, you can make and receive cellular phone calls from your iPad, iPod touch, or Mac when your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network.
To make and receive phone calls, here's what you need:
Sign in to the same iCloud account on all your devices, including your Mac.
Your iPhone and your iPad or iPod touch need to use iOS 8 or later. Your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
All devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
All devices must be signed in to FaceTime using the same iCloud account. This means any device that shares your Apple ID will get your phone calls. Look below for instructions on how to turn off iPhone cellular calls.
Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off. Go to Settings > Phone. If you see Wi-Fi Calling, turn it off.
Make a call
To make a phone call on your Mac, iPad or iPod touch tap or click a phone number in Contacts, Calendar, or Safari.

  • How do I make a phone call from iPad?

I set up my iPhone 5S personal hotspot, then link to it on the iPad (both running iOS 8). I can access the internet from the iPad, but cannot make a FaceTime phone call. Did I misunderstand the Keynote address that this would be possible with iOS 8?

    Joe,
I hope you can help as I have the same issue.  First the basics: my iPhone 5 and iPad Air both have iOS 8 installed (there are still three family devices on the same apple id/icloud account that are not yet on iOS 8).  Both devices list the same phone number in Messages and FaceTime and both those apps use the same iCloud account.  Both devices are on the same wifi network.
But when I get a call on my iPhone, the iPad most definitely does not give me the option to respond.  And nothing happens when I try to tap on a contact on the iPad.  :-( :-(
I went through the links above and note a couple odd things.  For instance, the user guide says:
"Disable iPhone Cellular Calls.  On your iPhone, go to Settings > FaceTime, then turn off iPhone Cellular Calls"
When I go to my iPhone's Settings->FaceTime, there is no option to "turn off iPhone Cellular Calls".  What are they talking about?
In the third link, the instructions for making phone calls have a fourth step:
         4. Wi-Fi Calling needs to be off.
What does that mean?  Where do I look to make sure it's off?
As an aside, I'm writing this from my 2010 MBP running Yosemite beta 3 and there appears to be no connection between it and my nearby iPhone either.  My MBP is on the same wifi network as the iPhone and both the Mac's FaceTime and Messages have the same phone # set as on the iPhone.  But when I go into the address book and look up a contact, no "phone" icon/button shows up next to the contact's phone number.  When  a call comes into the iPhone, nothing happens on the mac.

I cannot make or receive calls from my Mac using Iphone from my home wifi network BUT i can do it while I'm using my office's wifi connection. what to do?

Are you saying that your house has both a home wifi network and your office's wifi network?
Or are you using the Mac and Phone at both work and home?
This is the Mac Pro desktop forum so are you lugging the Mac Pro desktop to work?

  • How can I make a PDF file from each folders with layers, where each page is a each folder?

How can I make a PDF file from each folders with layers, where each page is a each folder?

I found an answer to my own question. A work around of sorts.
Download Photoshop Elements 6 for Macintosh. With PSE6 I made a slide show with 550 images 1920x1200, without thumbs. I ran into one problem making the slide show. My images contained 4 images which had not ben created by Photoshop and could not be included in the slide show. Opening the images in Photoshop CS4 and re-saving them still did not make then acceptable. Not a big deal. I probably could have fixed the four images by stripping all EXIF data before opening them in Photoshop. BTW, PSE6 made the slide show in demo mode.
I hope the bug in Photoshop CS4 will be fixed in Photoshop CS5.

Hi there Dave, aka @dewanio , welcome back
I saw that you are looking to print off a configuration page.
The printer itself will print a test page however, the model depends on how it will print. Let me know which printer you have and I will get back to you!
    Thanks!

No, the feature works at home by going through your iPhone to make the call.
There are Apps for the iPad which allow this: Skype, etc.

    Hi Bo S.,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you cannot make an outgoing call using your iPad. Included below are the instructions for using Continuity to make calls from your iPad. If you are set up correctly and still are unable to make a call after following the information in the article, please let me know at what point in the process the failure happens and what happens at that point.

  • How do I delete individual phone calls from the recent tab on my 3GS?

    Hi there all,
My first post online in an Apple forum. God I wish I switched from my HTC pile of %$*&! to an iPhone earlier, what a great phone.
I have gone online and read the manual as to trying to find the answer but I can't. So maybe fellow users can assist me?
In the recent calls tab on Ver 3.1 How do I delete individual calls without deleting the entire history of all the other calls?
Say I have ten phone calls on my screen in the recent tab. I want to delete the one from Bob Claus and leave the rest of the history of all other callers there?
How does one do this please?
Many thanks in advance for your assistance and advice.

    Welcome to the discussions,
this is not supported at this time. If you want this feature, you can leave your suggestion directly here http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • Cannot make Continuity phone calls from Mac OS X Yosemite beta 10.10.3

Hi, I don't remember which beta update it was, but perhaps one or two after the initial beta, Continuity is not working for me any longer. I always receive a "is unavailable" error when trying to make audio calls. I can still send SMS messages from my Mac.  I'm curious if other owners are experiencing typical behavior from this beta version?  I'm running v10.10.3.  Thanks,

Thanks for the reminder.  So in regards to the official version, I solved the problem.  For whatever reason, the “iPhone Cellular Calls" option became unchecked.  This is found under the FaceTime app, go to FaceTime > Preferences and turn on “iPhone Cellular Calls".  Back in business again...

  • Can I iniate phone calls from my Mac?

On my Microsoft PC with Excel (Works actually), I used to be able click on a cell to make a call.  This was very useful if I was making a lot of calls to busy people.  When a the phone call was answered, I could see to whom I was talking, with useful information (reason for call/ history/ colleagues' names...).
I now have Excel (Office for Mac 2011) and would like any system linked to that.
    Thanks in advance, raybry

  • How does one fax a pdf document from a Mac in Yosemite?

I have a telephone land line connected to a cable modem, and an ethernet cable from my Mac to the cable modem.
I would like to fax a simple PDF document. How do I do it?
I began by following this set of instructions, but was never able to get beyond Step 1:
Open the document you want to fax, then choose File > Print.
Choose Fax PDF from the PDF pop-up menu.
Choose your fax machine from the Printer pop-up menu.
Enter the fax number by doing one of the following:If your phone system requires you to dial a prefix for an outside line, type it in the Dialing Prefix field.
Type the fax number in the To field.
If you see a Contacts button to the right of the To field, click it to select a number.
To paste a number into the To field when the Edit > Paste command isn’t available, hold down the Control key as you click in the To field, then choose Paste from the menu that appears.
If you want to include a cover page, select “Use cover page,” then enter a subject and message.
To change your options, use the print options pop-up menu (the pop-up menu within the separator bar). For example, to control how your modem behaves when faxing, choose Fax Modem. You can choose whether to dial with touch tones or pulse tones, whether to listen to the modem as it dials, and whether to wait for a steady dial tone before dialing.
    Click Fax.
Problem I have is when I click either "Printer" or "Page Setup," I get this message:
"The Page Setup dialog box is provided by the operating system. To ensure that you can use the full print capabilities of Acrobat, please set all print options from the Application print dialog box. Do you want to continue?"
In short, I never see anything that reads "Fax PDF."
    Thanks
