How do I make a playlist to resync my ipod?

a couple weeks ago i was adding songs onto my ipod and i added too many *not enough room on my nano*, and my ipod added a new playlist to sync with *with only some songs on it*. i didnt like that idea so i deleted it. then my ipod was wiped clean, with no songs at all. i posted my problem here and eventually i got my songs back on by syncing it to an ALL playlist *a playlist with all my songs on it.* i deleted that playlist a couple days later *this time by accident, and i couldnt remember how i did it before, and i couldnt find the post i read how to do it* so i played around and made another playlist and just dragged my songs over, and clicked the "Automatically update all playlists" button. and my ipod seemed to be back to normal. but today it just deleted like 30 songs because they had moved off of my "Recently Added" playlist, and were not on my ALL playlist, because i never added them to it. its so annoying how i cant just get my ipod back to normal.
-- should i try to sync it with another playlist again? *if yes, how do i do that?
-- or should i just restore it to factory settings? *if yes, how & how do i back up itunes.
this has been going on for weeks now and im really getting frustrated, and i went to the apple store and the guy had no idea what i was talking about. i know this is lengthy, but PLEASE HELP ME!! thanks soooo much.

Why not just make a playlist with the songs you want on your iPod?
You can then make other playlists that have only songs from that playlist (if you want to have playlists).
Then tell iTunes to only update those playlists (onto the iPod).
To do this, connect the iPod to the computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences and click the iPod tab. Click the Music tab under that. Chose Automatically Update Selected Playlists and chose those playlists. Click OK.
<hr>
You can also uncheck the songs you don't want on the iPod (uncheck them in the iTunes library). Then go into the iPod Music Preferences (see above) and then check "Only Update Checked Songs" and click OK. You won't need a playlist.
<hr>
You can also set the iPod to manually update, so you just choose the songs and playlists you want on the iPod...
Managing Your Songs Manually
<hr>
You could just delete some songs from iTunes so that your library is smaller than your iPod. Then everything would be back to normal.
Also, there is no need to restore your iPod. If you did, you wouldn't have to backup your iTunes Music Library because a restore only affects the content on the iPod, not your computer. Of course, it is always a good idea to backup your music.

  • How can I make a playlist play on my iPod in random order?

I have made a playlist on my computer in iTunes. The songs are now in alphabetical order by song title, and when they play on my iPod they play in that same alphabetical order.
Is there a way that I can make the songs in the playlist play in some other order? Preferably, just a random order?
Or, is there a way that I can arrange them in iTunes that is not in alphabetical order and have them stay in that non-alphabetical order?
    Thanks!

Just go to Settings, Shuffle, then turn it to Songs. The songs will stay in the same order in the playlist, but they'll switch it up.

How can I make a playlist unchangable?

Right-click on it and choose "Copy to Play Order"
The songs can no longer be re-arranged (assuming that's what you meant). I think songs can still be added and deleted.

  • How do I make a playlist of my podcasts in iOS7??

I like to listen to podcasts more than music. How can I make a playlist of all my podcast downloads in iOS7? And how can I do a random shuffle of the podcasts that I have not yet listened to? In the old operating system I was able to do this under iTunes after I removed the apple podcast app (based on advise from another posting). Now I am at a loss and regretting iOS7 upgrade.

Update - So I have found that I can make a random podcats playlist in iTunes on my computer and the playlist shows in the podcast app under "My Stations".
HOWEVER, the random order sort functionality is still not available on the iPhone Podcast app as far as I can tell. Really annoyiong. Still hoping Apple can find it in their hearts to better support Podcasting.
You would think that since the term PODcasting came about because of the first generation iPOD that Apple would care about maintaining this functionality with the iPhone!!???

I sync'ed my iPod and lost my playlists on the iPod and Genius appears.  How do I get the playlists back on my iPod?

All you can do is restore from backup if yu have one. If you backed up to iTunes make sure that autosyncing is turned off. Otherwise when you connect the iPod to the computer the backup with you data might be overwritten. To turn off go to iTunes>Preferences>Devicesand check the box that says "Prevent iPods...".

how can I transfer my playlists from my old ipod to the new one

Export playlists from iOS - http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1113751
A playlist is, of course, just a listing of music tracks, or did you want to copy the music too?  You do not transfer that from iPod to iPod, you synch the iPod to the same library used with the first one.

  • How do I make a playlist play UNchecked songs?

When creating a new smart playlist there's a checkbox option called "Match only checked items".
This means you can make a playlist that will include unchecked items.
Now how do I get them to play?
In particular I use the Genre field in conjunction with the Grouping field to identify Christmas songs. After all a Christmas song can be Rock, Funk, Soul, Pop, Folk, etc. whatever. I keep these songs unchecked so that they don't turn up in my smart playlists the rest of the year when I'm making a playlist of e.g. R&B.
However, I also have a smart playlist called Christmas that collects all these unchecked songs. Now how do I get it to play those songs?
    Thanks.

You dug up an old apple account from years ago to respond to Grant Greene's 13 month old post?
I've been asking this question for years, because SOMETIMES I just make a playlist of a mix of checked and unchecked songs so that I can listen to ALL the songs in that playlist without checking them, ..
    and valiant66 wrote,
"Besides, the checkmarks were put there to control what syncs with your iPod, not what you listen to."
which is incorrect. The option Sync only checked songs was put there for for additional control when syncing, not the only control
As noted, unchecking songs does more than simply not sync them.
And even when unchecked, you need to select the option to not sync checked songs.

  • I want to create a playlist on an old iPod Nano (I think it's from the second generation), but the computer it was originally linked to via iTunes died years ago.  How can I make a playlist out of existing songs on the iPod?

    Hello there,
I have an old iPod nano which I think is from the second generation (model number A1199 if that helps) with software at the latest version it can accept, 1.1.3.  I wish to make a playlist out of the songs currently on the iPod, but I can't see any easy way to do that from the iPod itself.  The next logical thought is to do it through iTunes, but the iTunes that was originally synced to the iPod died several years ago now, so I can't access that to make a playlist through (it's a very old iPod).  I do have iTunes currently on this computer, but that's synced with my iPhone and stores different songs which I don't want to be mixed with those from the old iPod (due to the mostly nostalgic nature of the iPod songs).  Is there any way I can either create a new playlist from the iPod itself, or through iTunes without having to sync?  Also note that most of the songs on the old iPod were uploaded to iTunes from CDs and so aren't connected with any iTunes Login.
Thanks for any help you can give.  Also, I sorta need to create this playlist ASAP so any advice you could give would be much appreciated

The old iTunes library was lost with the old PC.  However, it all that music and content is still on your iPod there are many ways you can extract this content from the iPod and import it back into iTunes.
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the new PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • How do I make Video playlists?

I searched for this one and found it to be no help, when I upload videos to my ipod they just go under movies, could someone give me a step by step?
    Thanks!

Make a playlist just like you would for music. Call it whatever "Cartoons" manually drag all the video files you want into this folder. You can now access these files throught the playlist function and also through the video menu (however in the video menu, all your movies will be listed here). I have mine set up for Pop Videos. Rock Videos etc. to keep from having to sort through a huge list. Don't mix music and videos together.

  • How do I make sure that my second-hand iPod is not a stolen product?

My husband recently recieved an iPod shuffle from a friend of his. His friend told him he could have it since the friend didn't have a computer to download songs from or charge the iPod with. He states that he thought the iPod already had songs pre-recorded on it, and even if he used someone else's computer to get the songs, it's too much trouble. My husband had lent him some money to pay a utility bill and he was using this iPod that he just happened to have laying around to pay my husband back. I don't trust my husband's friend. How can I make sure that he isn't trying to push a stolen iPod off onto my husband? We haven't used it yet. My husband doesn't have much use for the shuffle, but I would love it, if only I could find out whether it was stolen or not. I don't want to take it to the police and start a big fight or get his friend in trouble, but if it is stolen I want to know so I can send it back to Apple or who ever owns it.

    Hi pyrausagi,
You sound like a very honest and sensible person, who is taking very reasonable precautions against becoming a second victim of theft. Others on these forums have been less cautious and have lost their recent purchases.
My suggestion would be to make sure the person offering the iPod shuffle is easily identifyable. Make sure he/she has a real address and you know what it is. Get a picture of the person and make sure they know you have it. If they are not above board I'm fairly sure they won't allow this.
There are a number of online databases of stolen merchandise. Look them up and check the serial number of the iPod against these databases.
Apple will not tell you if the item is stolen. Their phone agents that work with the public do not have that kind of information.
Note that doing all this will not guarantee you don't get a stolen iPod. Only purchasing one new (or refurbished) from Apple or an authorized reseller can do that. It does, however, give you a better chance.
Best of luck. Enjoy whatever iPod you get.

  • How do i remove music and a resync my ipod shuffle

how do i remove music and resync my ipod shuffle with new music

You can't transfer music from an iPod to a PC.  Apple do not provide that facility.  It can be done with third party software though.  There are a variety of these available though so search google for 'ipod to itunes'.
