How do I make a ruler using a ruler already in the image?
I have around 5,000 photographed artworks that I need to get exact measurements on, but I need to base the measurements off of a ruler that is in the photo next to the artwork, and the ruler does not start at the edge of the artwork.
The camera was moved from shot to shot, so the size of the ruler is not consistent, neither is the placement of the artwork.
Is there an easy way for me to get the measurements from the ruler on the photograph and apply it to the artwork?
All you need is simple arithmetic.
Choose any major ruler inch-mark close to the top edge of the graphic and place a guide there. (I put my horizontal guide on the ruler's 67" mark.) Move horizontal ruler origin to that guide.
Do the same toward the bottom of the image. (I put my bottom guide on the ruler's 40" mark.) Move the bottom guide slightly then returning it to its original position, to see how many PIXELS are between your guides. (Top guide would be 0, and bottom guide would be the number of pixels between guides. -- I get 1511.4 pixels for my 40" mark on the ruler.) My guides are 27" apart according to the ruler.
Now divide the number of pixels between guides (1511.4) by the number of inches it represents (27"). This is your pixels-per-inch measurement for the ruler. (55.98 pixels per ruler-inch)
Now do the same guide placement for the top and bottom of the image, count the number of pixels by moving the bottom guide a small amount and again returning it to its original position. (I get 1567.1 pixels)
Now divide the number of pixels the image height is (1567.1) by the pixels-per-inch measurement you got before (55.98), and this will be the height of the original image in inches. 1567.1/55.98 = 27.99 inches tall.

How can I make a rule to mark all messages sent to Mail Trash as Read?
When I look at some emails on my phone, I can see from the title that I don't need to read the email so I delete it without opening it. When I go to my Macbook Pro and open mail, the number of unread messages in my Trash shows next to the name. It drives me nuts. Can I just set a rule to mark all messages sent to trash as read? If that isn't possible, I'd take just making the number not show beside the Trash folder.Just in the case that I actually do need to go back to them for some reason. I have some OCD tendencies which is also why the number beside the folder drives me nuts.

How do you make PP CS5 use more allocated physical memory???
As you know, you can go to Preferences > Memory and change the amount of RAM reserved for other applications.
Now, I have 8 GB of RAM installed (Windows 7), and I have set my “RAM reserved for other applications” option to 1.5 GB. That leaves 6.5 GB of memory for Adobe AE, Pr, Encore and Media Encoder.
Here’s the problem: every time when I’m rendering or exporting in Premiere, I can see through Task Manager that Premiere uses only 1.5 or 2.0 GB of the physical memory, not the 6.5 GB that I’ve allocated. I know the rest is reserved for other applications, but none of them are running at the moment. So, how can I make PP CS5 use more of all the physical memory that’s left?Memory management in CS5 is clever enough to use an amount of memory that minimizes the use of the page file and maximizes buffers, However that depends on the material in the project, the effects and transitions used, the export format and the hardware in use.
There is no sense in using large amounts of memory, when other components cause waiting before the contents of memory can be offloaded. Just as it makes no sense to use a Ferrari in traffic jams. -

Currently, I'm using
table.setAutoCreateRowSorter(true);to allow the user to sort the table.
However, I want to be able to load something based on the selected row's index. The problem is that when the table is rearranged, the change appears to only be local, in other words, the actual table isn't changing.
For instance:
index 0 "A"
index 1 "B"
index 2 "C"
Sorted in reverse gives me
"C"
"B"
"A"
But C is still index 2 (instead of 0).

How do I make attachments I receive in mail appear at the top of my messages? Sometimes they are imbedded all the way at the bottom of an on going discussion and I don't even realize that there is an attachment.
If someone sends you an attachment, it's going to show up where they attached it in their message to you.
Messages with attachments show a paper clip icon in two places, in the middle column of the Mail window, next to the senders name, and next to the sender's name at the top of the message itself.
One way to make messages with attachments show more clearly is to create a Mail Rule, like this:
By setting a colored background to the messages that contain attachments, they'll stand out pretty clearly in the message list.
Note that there are several different types of attachments in the dropdown menu (where you see Document and PDF above). Keep pressing the plus sign to add different attachment types to your rule so that all will stand out on your list of messages. -

We won't be able to put the address from a formula into the same cell that you enter the customer's name. We can put the address in the cell under the customers name.
First let's take James advice and concatenate the address in the address table.
Here is the formula in G2

It shows this way because after I clicked on B2 and typed [&"] (no brackets) I typed option-return
This gives you your new line. Then I typed the closing ". I repeated this for the rest of the address.
Next we want to bring this to your order sheet. I prefer using the two formulas OFFSET and MATCH instead of VLOOKUP.
base tells OFFSETwhere to start counting from. Click A1.
row-offset is for the row. we will use MATCH() -1 to give us the row.
What MATCH does is give you the row number where something is found and you can specify an exact match. I usually construct the MATCH formula first and then cut and paste it into OFFSET. MATCH looks like this: MATCH(A2,Table 1::A,0). A2 is what we are looking for, Table 1A::A is where we are looking (the entire column A), and 0 means we want an exact match. Can you see it inside the OFFSET formula? Notice that we had to subtract 1 from its result.
column-offset tells OFFSET which column A=0 so we want 6.
we ignore "rows", "colomns" we don't need them.
If this seems like too much, just break it down into small pieces.

Sync your music from your computer to your iPad. Then delete the music from your iPhone.

The filter you can use is Desaturate with Amount=100 in Image Control.
If you want to apply it to a fixed area within your clip, put a copy of the clip in V2 on top of the priginal (supposing your clip is in V1), apply Desaturate and use Crop in Motion tab of the viewer to define the edges of the rectangle; you can also use Edge Feather to smooth the borders.
If the portion you want black&white is actually a selected person or object in the clip then you must apply Chroma Keyer or 4/8 Point Matte to isolate that portion before applying Desaturate.

You can add as many users as you want! Just lather, rinse repeat. That is how I share my itunes
directory with the ones I want to share it with.
That's the simplest way. ACL permissions overrule posix permissions. -
