How do I make a self contain project?

I'm doing a huge digitization project that involves digitising interviews. My project is full of Bins with the relevant captured footage inside, how can I take one of these bins and either copy it or make it a self contained project so I can take it and import it into a differant project on a differant computer? I would also like to be able to take captured footage from a project on one hard drive and input it onto another project on another hard drive (so that the space taken up by the captured footage id freed up).
Any help would be much apperciated!

sorry mate, didn't look deep enough, just thought it would be the same in X as it would be previoues versions?

MEDIA MANAGER.  Highlight all the footage, then use the MEDIA MANAGER (right click) to either MOVE the footage, or COPY the footage to another location. Opt for COPY...so that you have the media for the current project, and a copy of that on the destination of your choice.

  • Make Movie Self-Contained option

I edited some video at home and wanted to bring it to work so I can bring it into DVD SP. I selected File>Export QT Movie and chose Current Settings, it was captured as DV NTSC. I also checked make movie self-contained.
    1. Is the idea behind this so I will end up with one file that will not need to reference any of the media or project files on the computer it was captured, so it can just be taken with me?
    2. I tried several times to copy the 8GB QT file to an external drive, and close to the end of the process I receive the following error:
Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (Error Code -1309).
It then continues copying for a few seconds and just stops and nothing ends up on the external drive. I tried rebooting and unplugging the drive and tried again with the same results. Any ideas why it is doing this? Is this a Tiger issue or an issue with my settings in FCP? I even unchecked Make Movie Self-Contained and it still had the same problem when I tried to copy it.
    Thanks!!!

If the windows system recognized the drive when connected, and you weren't running a special app like MacDrive on the Windows system, then the drive isn't formatted as Mac OS extended (aka HFS+). It's more likely that it's formatted as FAT 32 since you've used it before to read/write files to and from your Mac. A FAT 32 drive when connected to a Mac will limit file size to 2gb.

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

  • Final Cut Express wont make make a self contained movie

Until recently I have always been able to export my movies from final cut express HD without any problems. They save as final cut express movie files. Now when I come to export a movie, I click on " make self contained movie" and what I get is a quicktime movie that is split into 3 parts, one named whatever I had told it to save as and the other 2 with the same name but -av1 or -av2 after it. If either of these is deleted the original wont play but they wont open on their own. There is sufficient hard drive space and they are all saved in the same folder. There appears to be a 2GB maximum file size as the first movie is 2 GB the second is 2 GB and the third is whatever is left over. Anything smaller than 4 GB just saves as a 2GB plus whatever is lreft over! They will play if original video clips are deleted so they are independent but wont play if one of the 3 is missing. Please help this is driving me scatty

Is the drive you aresaving to formatted to Mac OS Extended?
Sounds like it could be Mac Standard.
Also check in Prefernces that the file size export limit is not set to 2 gig.

You can also try to remove them from the images folder and the  My videos folder, because this is where the Gallery will look for pictures and videos, and put them in another folder then reorganize them in sub folders within your new folder

  • What setting do I use to make a self contained video file, not a DVD?

I'm trying to use compressor to create video files to use on a friends Windows PC computer to be displayed from there, but I'm not sure what settings to use. I keep trying different things but I can't seem to get the audio to work. I read another response that the video and audio are saved separately but is there any way of merging them into a "self contained" video file?

SD? HD? Do you need uncompressed (full res)? Can his computer play Quicktime movies? Can his computer play H.264? What format did you shoot, capture, and edit in? What program will the PC use as a player?
The reason there are so many options as presets is because there is no best option. There are many needs for compression. Give more details about your workflow and output needs.

  • PLZ HELP.. How can i make dvd from FCP project..

    Can someone plz help..
I have FCPPRHD and DVD Pro..
I got lost trying to make a dvd out of fcp project
Can someone plz help in easy 123.. steps how to make a dvd for my client to view..
    Thnx ever so much
    awaitng ur reply

I don't want to sound too harsh, but you really need to read the manual and do the tutorials.
You shoot, capture and edit in FCP. You export that to MPEG2 using compressor and you import the resulting video and audio files into DVDSP. You add a menu and set up buttons to get to the footage, and you set up navigation so that your client can get back to the menu at any time. You build and format that (i.e. burn the disc).
That's the process, but it is very much more detailed than any of us could write here.... it's all in the manual and tutorials

  • How do I create a self-contained video podcast for download?

I have a series of videos from a conference I taped years ago that I want to make availanble to people as a digital download. I have purchased some training coruses from places like Ripple that send you an e-mail with a link to the download the course material. Clicking on it opens up iTiunes and downloads the entire training course as a Podcast (video). So it is not hosted on iTunes and is self-contianed to download all "eppisodes."
How is this done? How is this created so I can post it on a server and have people download it? Auto-instal to iTunes would be nice if easily acheivable.
    Thanks.

This page explains how to create a podcast:
    http://rfwilmut.net/pc
It's written with audio podcasts in mind, but there's little difference in making a video podcast. Your video files must be .mp4, .m4v or .mov, not .wma or .swf (Flash).
In the 'enclosure' tag the 'type attribute must be as follows for the different file types:
    .mp4
    video/mp4
    .m4v
    video/x-m4v
    .mov
    video/quicktime
Most podcast creation programs or service will handle that for you, so it's probably only relevant if you are handwriting the feed.

  • How do I create a self-contained WIn 8.1 Install that has recovery and WinRE available without external USB or network needed?

     Hello.
I am looking to create a fresh installation of windows 8.1 (Or soon Windows 8.1 Update 1) *WITH* a recovery partition on the same drive thatit is being installed to.  Kind of like how the setup on Surface Pro/Surface Pro 2 is (6 partitions,if memory
serves: one containing Boot, system, UEFI, WinRE , OS, UEFI, and RECOVERY).   That means that I can refresh/reset my machine without using any other media (USB et al) and I can use the OS to reboot into my UEFI for my motherboard.
    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Kind regards

  • How do you make java self execute?

Taking a course in java and all of the programs have to be started from the command window by typing java NameOfProgram.
I am to the point where we are usingparts of the Java API so we have JPanel, JTextField ect. The programs look nice and cool but..,how do I get the program to load from an icon in Windows instead of from the command line in the command window.?

checked the tutorial stuff and now understand why
it's not in any of my books. Makes no sense at all
at this stage. I can't believe that you guys really
think Java is simple.Well, "simple" needs a bit of qualification.
As a language, it's less complex than, say, C++, to be sure.
But "Java" as a general term encompasses a lot. There's the language, which is relatively simple as general-purpose programming languages go (though getting more complex with each release). There's the core API, which includes somewhere around 6500 classes. Then there's the JVM and DLLs that go with it to form the runtime environment. Then there's how you package and deploy a Java program--it could be as an applet, a standalone app as a bunch of classes, a standalone app as a jar file, a web application, a web service, etc. ...
I don't think creating an executable jar is that complex. It's basically just a zip file with a specific structure and a couple of extra files. But if you're just getting started, I could see why it might seem so. If there are certain particular pieces that are giving you trouble, then feel free to ask. If you're just completley baffled about the whole concept, then, yeah, maybe getting more comfortable with some of the fundamentals first would be better.
It just seems that there aught to be an easy way to
do this instead of a major operation.I guess it depends on what you consider "easy" and what "major operation" you're speaking of. I imagine most IDEs (Eclipse, IntelliJ, JBuilder, etc.) will provide a wizard for building an executable jar out of your classes, though I generally recommend that beginners stay away from IDEs, as it can be almost as daunting to learn the IDE as to learn Java for a newcomer, and difficult to tell where the boundary between the two lies.
    Good luck.

  • How do I make an I-DVD Project not start automatically?

When making a DVD, I export from I-movie into I-dvd. I configure the project and save. After I burn the dvd and put it in a DVD player it automatically starts playing without going to the chapter menu. Any idea how to correct? Thanks

Enter the Map   mode and drag the item that is in the Auto Play bin in the upper seft hand corner of the window.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality final product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How can i make sure ejb container starts before web server

When starting the application server which one starts first?
Our system requires ejb container to start first.
Currently when i test it, the web container starts before ejb sometimes.
Is there any way to force the ejb container to start up before the web container starts?

What exactly is the dependency you have in your application? The Java EE spec does not
impose any requirements on the order in which the different modules within an .ear are
    instantiated.

  • How to test if a QT movie is Self-contained?

I have had difficulties in DVD SP because some movies produced in FCE were (inadvertently) created with the box "Make Movie Self-contained" unchecked. I had lost some of my files on my Scratch Disc (render files I think) on which the movies depended and so they would not open and DVD SP itself refused to launch. I recovered from that by devious methods.
However, I now want to confirm or otherwise that each of my movie files is Self-contained, and if not, to re-create them in FCE (if I still have the Capture Scratch for their FCE projects). How can I confirm that please?
    Two possible tests:
    1. Open the movie and do Window -> Show Movie Properties. Select "Video Track" and the "Resources" tab. If the only resource listed is the movie itself, that means the movie is Self-Contained (because it is not listed as relying on any part of FCE's Scratch Disc);
    2. Close the movie. Dismount my (external) FCE Scratch Disc and try to reopen the movie. If it opens, it is Self-Contained (again, because it cannot possibly be reliant on FCE's Scratch Disc).
Is each of these tests definitive and reliable?
    Thanks.

If your render files are definitely on the external drive only, then method 2 is reliable. Depending on the file method 1 may not be. QuickTime still treats it as a complete movie file.
