How do I make an audio recording?

Is this a standard feature or an app I need to download to be able to record, save and send audio files?

You can download a 3rd party app but I don't think you have sound recorder built in.  This is from searching other forums for the Turbo.  The icon you may see in your apps if any, is for voice commands or voice searching.  You can send audio in short clips via the messaging app where you create the sound at that point and attach.

    Hi Ted
You can make Audio Recordings using a free app. called Sound Recorder 2.1, but the files are saved in QuickTime and are a little hard to organize and manage.

Take a look at Recorder 5 for $15 it may have the features that your looking for.

Also note that the iMac's Line-In Jack is Line Level and if you wish to use a PC or non-amplified mic
your going to need a Griffin iMic or MXL iBooster.

  • How do I make a voice record on the iMac?

I want to add a voice recording to a Keynote slide show.  How do I proceed?

You can make an audio recording in the QuickTime X player - File>New Audio Recording and if necessary use the down-pointing triangle on the right to select the microphone or other source.
However as to adding audio to a Keynote presentation the best place to ask would be in the Keynote Forum.

  • How do I make a quality recording of streaming music (and get into iTunes)?

I'd like to make a recording of some streaming music.  I called Apple Care and the agent suggested using Quick Time.  Yes, I can make an audio recording, but it included a lot of background noise. (I could even hear myself tapping on my computer when I listened to the playback.)  Next, I tried using Soundflower because in the "Internal Audio"section of this page, I got the impression that I wouldn't be using my "live" mic on my MacBook Air, but it did.  Again, I could hear background noise.
Is there a way to make a better recording of streamed music from the internet...without being a technical wiz?  I am not.  Thanks for your help!

If you do a general web search you will find multiple answers.  iTunes does not do what you want to do, nor any Apple software as far as I am aware.  Possibly what you are doing is strictly speaking skirting legality (if the stream producer doesn't simply make a simple way to download) which makes providing  an answer on Apple's forum (where according to terms of use we have to remain legal) complicated.

then you're not using GB08, you're using GB2 (this is the 08 forum). always best to post in the forum for the version you're actually using because the answers are different depending upon version. nevertheless, read this for your solution:

  • When I make a audio recording, I miss the breathing before the first note using metronome click

When I make a audio recording, using count in metronome click, I miss the breathing before the first tone. I hear very abrupt the first tone. I like some environment before, the acoustic of the hall

So... if i understand what you are trying to achieve...
When recording sing a single short note (To actually start the recording and then wait a bar before you start actually singing your music.. You can then go back and edit out the single note leaving the ambience... and your breathing intact and recorded.

Close the QT X player without saving the recording. If you have already saved the recording, then locate the saved file and trash it in the normal manner. If you are referring to a temporary or saved file entry that shows up in the "Open Recent" list, the system will automatically reclaim the space as part of the routine system clean up if/when the file is no longer available. If you simply wish to immediately remove it from your "Open Recent" list before the system removes it, then use the "Clear Menu" option to manually clear the "Open Recent" list.

  • How do you make MP3 audio files?

I'm running for public office, and a local newspaper invited candidates to submit statements, along with MP3 audio files for display on its website.
So how does one make an MP3 audio file? Is this something I can do with my MacBook Pro and Leopard alone, or do I need to obtain a special software program?
    Thanks.

    Hi David!
As Francine mentioned, you will want to use the audio production software that came with your Mac, called Garageband. This will let you record speech, and even layer in music, etc. And when everything is set as you like it, the sound file can be exported in a variety of formats. It will provide a great basic audio recording solution for strictly voice and talking, but you can take things one step further and layer in a music track as an intro or outro if desired for a little more flair, edit out mistakes, etc. A great program that comes right with your Mac. There are nice basic tutorials on the Apple website which give an introduction to Garageband. Good luck David!

  • How can I copy an audio recording in Skype?

I have an audio recording of one of my contacts on Skype.
Can you tell me if there is a way to copy this recording to my hard drive and if so how?
Can I do it with MP3 Skype Recorder 4.11 and if so how?  Where would it be recorded to if I can do it this way?
Any help with this will be really appreciated
    HB

I already have a Skype recorder for any incoming or outgoing Skype or telephone calls.  I use MP3 Skype Recorder for that.   What I'm trying to achieve is different.
I have an existing voicemail message in Skype itself from one of my Skype contacts.  It is this voicemail message that I want to save to my hard drive somewhere so there is no chance of me losing it in Skype itself.
I right clicked on the recording and there is an option in the context menu to 'Copy Message.' I clicked on this but I don't know where to save it to on my hard drive so I can play it whenever I want from there as a file.
I would also like to know if there is any way to change this voicemail message to another file format to play on my hard drive.
Can anybody help me with this scenario please?
    Thanks
    HB

  • HOW DO I SET MY AUDIO RECORDING PROGRAM

I AM USING BEHRINGERS UF0202 TO TRANSFER MY CASSETTES TO ITUNES.  IT SAYS TO SET MY AUDIO RECORDING PROGRAM TO RECORD FROM THE USB PORT.  HOW DO I DO THIS?

Are you are using an audio interface?
Are you recording external instruments... you will need to explain what kind of audio, virtual instruments, loops, recorded audio through an interface?
If you're recording through an audio interface (or the computer's audio input) Logic's plugins cannot stop peaks as Software is -after- the the hardware input. If you're getting peaks recording through hardware you will need to bring down input levels.

  • How do I make the audio files on my site download?

    Hi
In my site there are links to some audio files. When click the links in chrome or firefox, the audio files start playing straight away. In opera the files download. Internet explorer opens the files in windows media player. How can I make it so that when they are clicked they always download, instead of playing inside the browser?
The only answer that I can find, so far, is zip files. I am reluctant to use that method because zip files compress and compression can do funny things to files.
    Can anyone suggest anything?
    Thanks
    Torhorhilau

I am reluctant to use that method because zip files compress and compression can do funny things to files.
Fear not. The zip compression is not a 'lossy' method, it's a simple statistical compression method (when three or more bytes are found adjacent in the file, they are replaced by two bytes, one indicating the repeating value, and the other indicating how many repeats), so the files will decompress exactly like they were before. A good example of a lossy compression would be when you create a jpg image.
Alternatively, you could force a download with a little server-side scripting. Google "force download". You would need some proficiency in server scripting to use this method, however.

  • How do i download a audio recording from email without using dropbox

I received an e-mail with an audio recording from my yoga teacher.  On my PC I was able to click on the "address" and download it directly to my docs.
But I'd like to have it on my Mac Air notebook so I can have it with me when I travel.
However, when I click on the "address" to download it takes me to a dropbox sign-up page.  I'd rather not sign up with dropbox.
    Any iseas? Thanks. vee913

Right click on the attachment and look at the options.

  • How do I make my audio better when recording videos?

what is the best way to enhance audio on videos I make with my iPhone 4?

          Thanks, Bobby
         All good advice.
I went and checked out the link you provided, and started salivating immediately. But $200 is too much for me right now. Looked at the lav (what does that mean?) mic adjacent to it-- lovely, very portable, and almost affordable. I registered, and created a wish list. I think my wedding anniversary or something must be coming up soon...
I was thinking about my barely-there audio today, and just for the fun of it checked my volume button. I NEVER turn it down. Never. But it was, by about half. Does this have any effect on recording, or just ringing? (Can you tell I'm almost totally techno-ignorant?)
Something else occurred to me too. When I was shooting, twice so far (and I am cringing writing this), I was talking really low the whole time. Last night, cuz my hubby was asleep in the next room; this morning, because I didn't want to scare the birds I was videoing away...   uh.....   Well, DUH.
Actually, I have already bought one of those little capsule mics, found it on Amazon. IT WON'T FIT ON MY PHONE WHILE THE CASE IS ON. And I am scared to death to take the case off! The thing's made out of glass, for cripes sake, and I am a CLUTZ.
Thanks again!! I'll be coming up with plenty more stupid questions for quite a while, I'm sure

  • How to CHOP up an audio recording?

I have a soft synth going to a audio bus in logic and what I want to do is on one track
have a few varying sound effects that I created all on one track for me then to open, chop up, rename and then have 8+ samples for the work.
In other words, I record, play the desired FX, then pause, make changes on the device, continue recording then when finished, chop them up, get rid of silence, and maybe batch process so instead of 10 takes on one track with varying sounds, I end up with 10 samples (indiviual). FWIW, I still can't figure out how to really edit the one sample. Used to sound forge and nuendo, so beg your pardon.
    Thanks

Sadly sample editing is not one of Logic's strong features. Have you tried the Apple Loops utility or Soundtrack Pro?
Another app I like for editing is the new Peak Express and it's only $40
The first thing to do is bounce the effected track, and then bring the bounced file back in to a new track.
Next step is chopping it up.
To make individual samples from a region use the "strip silence" function. This will create a bunch of separate regions. You could also create the separate regions manually with "split at playhead", "split by locators" or by using the scissors tool.
Once you have it all cut, select the regions and use the " convert to new audio files" command. This is found under the Audio tab, or by right clicking on them.
    Your other question:
Check to see if the files are 32 bit? If so convert them to 24 bit.

  • How do I make two audio clips from different mics sound the same in premiere?

I have a video I am working on. we used two different mic and camera options. One is a lavaliere mic that was too hot and picked up a lot of fuzz, and the other was an on board mic that was just a little echoey from the office walls. I found that some clips were better on different versions. so I want to put the two different sets next to each other in video and make the sound be the exact same. That way no one notices the differences in audio.
    Any help is appreciated.

Hi. Although not perfect, I'd add an audio mixer effect and adjust the highs, mids & lows on both of them to help their audio, respectively, sound more similar. Often when I shoot, my Boom mike (backup) is much fuller sounding than the lavs. are. Lavs are inherently lacking in the low end, and the boom is often too hot on the low end. So I would add Audio Mixer effect, and lower the low end on the boom slightly, and highten the low and mids just a bit on the lavs. Even taking a little highs off the lavs makes it sound a bit more like the boom.
As far as echo is concerned, you probably can't do to much about that unless you have an external graphic equalizer/limiter. Lot's of times I just add  some music in the background, which helps a lot to hide echo from the mics.
Finally if you tape/record/film in a location that has lots of background noise like, background people, cars or rain or wind or general white noise "hiss", then you should record a minute or two of the location without any dialogue. This is is known as "Wala" recording. You can add a little of this to your whole track, or just on the mike track that doesn't seem to pick up the ambient sound, thus making it sound more like your other mike.
    I hope this helps.
