I have reverted to FF3.6 until this issue is solved. I do NOT like the new UI.

Then in the middle of the page is a page crease.
These two elements make it look much more like a book.

Those books were not made using iBooks Author.
iBA books (hybrid epub) will not provide that style/look.
You'll need to create a standard epub if you want that type of navigation/presenation to the suer. Apple's Pages (also Indesign, etc.) will output the epub format that will provide the exact look in your example/screenshot.

I don't like the new layout. How can I make it look like it did before this unwanted update?

I don't want to just reinstall the older version, since I'll be constantly refusing update requests and will lose any new security updates. I just want to have the layout I had before FF changed it without informing me in advance. Otherwise I will switch to a different browser. I'm a patient man, so I will give FF 24 hours to correct this unwanted annoyance before switching over to the competition.

How can I make Firefox look like the new updated toolbar?

I installed Firefox 4 on a new computer running Windows XP, but I still have the old look and layout of Firefox. I want to use the new look with the all in one drop down menu bar.
This is a fresh install of Firefox 4 with no previous version installed. Below is what mine looks like.

During installation of the NI-VISA 2.01 driver I get an error that tells me that my file (NICVISA.DPT) doesnt look like a tar archive. How can I make it look like a tar archive or is that not the solution to the problem?

I am trying to install the NI-VISA 2.01 driver I downloaded from the NI website on a HP-UX 10.2 platform, but it keeps giving me the following error:
tar: /var/spool/sw/NICVISA.DPT: This doesnt look like a tar archive.
I also get errors telling me that files can't be loaded because their missing from source media. What could be causing this? Some of the files are msgrt4.txt,ni7seg24.bdf,ni7seg26, etc... Can these needed files be downloaded anywhere or is the problem linked to the tar archive scenario..

The files were corrupt. Originally I had downloaded the driver files to my PC and used FTP to transfer them to my UNIX machine.
Your tech support rep. suggested I download the driver files via ftp.ni.com to my UNIX machine vs. the PC...this worked great. I am now communicating with my instrument

I have a simple shape...a rectangle filled with a solid color. It is a separator bar on a poster. I want the top of the bar to have highlight and the bottom of the bar to be darkened. (As if I brought it into PS and applied an emboss filter)
I tried using a gradient and got ok results. Is there a better way to do this?

If you count me, now two people want to know how to emboss a simple shape or path in Ai. I already know how to do it in both Photoshop and Fireworks, both a piece of pie, but I (we) must be overlooking something astonishingly obvious in Illustrator.
Why not do it in Photoshop? Because the background from Ps comes along for the ride - even if it's transparent in Ps. And, unless I flatten the embossed path in Fw (converting it to bitmap from vector), the emboss doesn't paste into Ai, and then the background comes along...

How do I make itunes look for my media files on the external hardrive

I've moved as far as I can tell all my music, videos etc. to an external drive but even though I've set itunes to look for it there in edit-preferences-advanced it still won't go there. In my list everything has the exclamation next to it and when I try to "get info" it says the original can't be found and I have to "find" it. I obviously can't do that for thousands of songs. I just updated the software on both my ipod and itunes and still nothing. I also reset my ipod and it still won't pick it up. My media files are under I:\My Music\iTunes Music\iTunes Music
Any ideas?

As implied above, iTunes struggles if you move the content around by hand. Changing the location under Edit > Preferences > Advanced tells iTunes where to put new content, not where to look for the old stuff. That said, if you move the library files and the media at the same time, keeping the relative paths from the library to the media unchanged then iTunes usually manages to work everything out.
If you copied the iTunes folder over already, then the steps above should sort you out. If not it might be time to get your library sorted out propery.
The path you mention, I:\My Music\iTunes Music\iTunes Music, looks like it has one too many levels and is the older name for the media folder. Ideally you want your library files at the root of the drive, e.g. I:\iTunes and the media folder inside that at I:\iTunes\iTunes Media. Again, ideally, your folder structure should look like the one on the right in this detatil copied from one of my older posts:
If you have upgraded from version 8 (or earlier) to iTunes 9 (or later) at some point, then your media folder (everything inside the red outline) may still be called iTunes Music instead of iTunes Media. The extra Music folder inside the media folder is used if you have allowed iTunes to Upgrade to iTunes Media Organization (iTunes 9) or used File > Library > Organize Library > Reorganize files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (iTunes 10). Depending on your choices for Keep iTunes Media folder organized and Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library plus a little bug in which one build changed the name of the file storing the choice of layout it is quite easy for some of your files to be organized according to one layout and some the other.
If everything is set out like that then iTunes should be able to find things by itself, but if it needs a hand my script FindTracks should be able to relink any files that iTunes can't locate.

How do I get my contacts to have pictures next to them in the contacts menu like Steve's? I can't figure this one out...

SO all my ppictures need to be synced form the computer? I just remember in the original iPhone keynote and also in the June one as he scrolled through his contacts there were pictures next to each person. Even for the contacts I have loaded form the PC (synced with pics from pc) this does not hold true. I do know that the ones synced from the pc do show the smaller icon when called but not in the contact list as does Steve's.

Actually, all you need is a photo to assign on your phone. Just select the photo in the phone you wish to assign to a contact. Then tap photo to get the icon menu. Hit the icon on the bottom far left that has a arrow poitning right. Then select "Assign to Contact" then choose the contact you want. It will then let you move and scale the photo. Click set photo when you're happy. It will then assign and save it to that contact.
There's also another way to do it. Simply go to the contact you want click the edit button then click the add photo area, that then gives you the option to take a photo for the contact or to choose an existing photo to use.

How can I create a folder or personalized mailbox to the mail feature on the iPad...... I have my email with verizon.....there is nowhere to press a plus sign to create a folder or mailbox for work related emails, personal emails, expense emails or such.....can anyone help me!!!!

You can only create additional mailboxes if your email account is an IMAP account. You tell this by tapping on your account in the mailboxes window - and in the window that shows your inbox, sent folder, trash folder, etc - there will be an Edit button at the top of that window. If there is no edit button - you do not have an IMAP account and you can't create new mailboxes. If the Edit button is there - tap on it and the tap New Mailbox at the bottom of the window.

The ipad 1 is not supported by apples latest software updates. The processor just cannot handle the newest ios. Im sure there are various third party apps in the app store to give you more of a look alike ios7 but the first generation ipad cannot be updated due to performance issues.

I am looking to add an effect in Adobe Premiere Pro CC to make it look like the actors are watching TV in the dark. Just a soft pulsating, bluish-white light that may vary throughout. Does anyone know how to do this? I've tried scouring the internet but haven't found much. I'm a beginner for sure, but trying to learn!

In the effects panel type "light" in the search box. This will bring up all the lighting effects in Pr. Adjusr/Lighting or Stylize/Strobe might work for you. There are a lot of adjustments you can key in until you find what suits your needs.
